Hi! Im finally bringing this up to the general community after a month of suffering from this thing my Sony S Tablet is experiencing through. My Sony S Tablet randomly touches itself on the screen, to be more specific the lower function buttons ( Back key, Home Key, and Recently used app Key). Its really annoying when im browsing the net either stock browser/dolphin HD or watch videos on Gallery/Quickpic the tab touches the back button or home button and repeatedly does that and wont stop until i lock the tab or even turns it off. Its getting more worst as each day passes by. I think i noticed this one after doing this one:

Then you are very, very, very, very lucky. LOL One of the only regions left that we can root (as Sony removed 3.2.1 from servers when 4.0.3 ICS R1A/R2A came out.
You are on 11000 version so flash this:
0035
http://www.mediafire.com/?cti11ejoxpxx4cm
This will give you 3.2 (newer than 11000) kernel 10 (don't worry about the k10 issue, not relevant with 3.2)
Then flash this:
0042 (under kernel 10 3.2.1 : ) )
http://www.4shared.com/zip/03dah__B/signed-nbx03_001-ota-0042001.html
or
http://www.4shared.com/zip/8nuDXOQZ/signed-nbx03_001-ota-0042001.html
There are the files to install:
Move to SD card (not possible without SD)
Insert SD card
Turn off tab
Hold VOL DOWN BUTTON
Turn on tab, while still holding VOL DOWN
TAHDAH recovery menu. Flash as above
NB vol up, down are up, down and use power to select, install update from SD card, choose update from zip.

Same as above to you if you are US. You may or may not need to flash 0035 if you are allready 0035. If you are not US tab then please post your model and I will look.

When i first recieved this one all was well. but only when i tried rooting/upgrading it for the first time and it became worst when i successfully upgraded from HC to ICS 4.0.3 RC5
I tried:
1. Factory reset via Recovery Mode
2. Factory reset via settings
3. Erasing everything on the external storage
4. Changing into "Medium" the touch and hold delay
but still the problem persists. Anyone got any clue regarding whats happening on my Sony S Tablet? I also got queries
1. Could this be a problem with virus? i tried clearing up the external storage but its still there
2. How could i revert back to the original ROM i was in when i first recieved it? i dont care if its HC as long as the annoying problem disappears
3. What if i lost my Original receipt of my Tab could i still avail its warranty if i finally decided to send it back to the service team?
4. And is there any cure to this madness my tab is into?
5. Anyone knows whats the specific name my tablet is experiencing? Google cant be my bestfriend if i wont give him specific items to be searched
Any forms of help, suggestions and advices are warmly appreciated. Thanks!
Do you have a screen protector installed? Had the same problem about one week after installing the protector. The problem disappeared after some air escaped after rubbing the screen protector. Looks like there was some sort of static interference with the touch screen. Haven't had this problem again since. Good luck!

Tried removing the screenprotector but the problem still persists
anybody has ideas how to fix this one? called the service crew today and they only suggested reformatting the tablet, which obviously didnt solve the problem
Sell it. Get a nexus 7.

Probably from Heating
Touch screen recognizes touch from heating. I had the same problem too, and here is what I noticed:
when the battery level goes to ~<20%, the problem starts. charged it to full, and it was gone. checked 2 times. Doesn't cause problem when fully charged.
when the battery level goes down, the tablet slightly overheats at the bottom. I think that is what causing it. Try charging it to full and report it here if the problem still persists
Have that issue also. Don't think it's too common actually. The reps. at my local Sony Center just laughed at me, and said they never heard such thing before.. Never noticed if it's battery related, but will look for it, next time it occurs. That'll mean it's a hardware defect that can't be solved without changing to a new unit.. =(
Batery is probably at the same location.
If thats the case i be worried, sony has bad reputation when it comes to batery's if they become hot verry rapidly they can explode.
Sony vaio team is the one that made this tablet and the xperia tablet s.
my batery is in top near camera can become warm, i defiantly put my tablet upside down next time it becomes warm to see if i can re produce this, if thats the case others probably have same issue also.

I have the Same Problem. I can't use it anymore.
Still waiting A Response from sony support.
Any clue how To Solve this?
Even with full batery, the tablet is crazy.
-bump- the problem returned... anyone else experiences the same thing?
Still present after JB update. This time though, it is more aggressive than before.. :S

anyone tried sending it back to sony or has found some answers to this annoying presses?
I have had Mine to service at Sony Center twice. They replaced The mainboard both times and The screen The second time. Definately not hardware related.. Will send it back a third time tomorrow and Ask for a refund. Will be cheaper for Sony, as the mainboard probably costs almost as much as The device it self..

You go search to internet and search for the previous OTA firmware of STS (Sony Tablet S)... for examples 4.0.3 Release 1a (signed-nbx03_001-ota-120803002).
- Download it (in zip file)
- put it into your sd card (in zip file)
- switch off your STS
- switch it back on while holding button 'ON' and Volume + button (hold together)
- Once the Sony logo appear, release the button 'ON' but not the volume +
- Once the blue screen appear with menus then release the volume + button
- Choose 'Update via sd card' ( scroll with volume - & select by pushing 'ON' button )
- Once choose then wait until it reboot.
- tadaaaa...finish...you are now downgrade from 4.0.3 Release 5a...and the screen touch by itself will no longer appear.
pssst : STS will ask for update to 4.0.3 Release 5a..... i don't think you would since previously we having the issue.
Good day.

Yesterday I could connect as usual. Today I cannot. My Prime sees the router and shows Good or Excellent but, as soon as I press Connect the icon goes to poor and constantly tries connecting. I've rebooted the router many times and have done a Factory reset with no luck. I cannot figure what the heck happened. Any help sure appreciated.

That sucks
- unlocked?
- jb update?
- root?
- tried another router?
Had pretty much the exact same issue 2 hours ago. All I did was reboot the prime.
Sure does suck.
- unlocked? .....No. I never could get the Asus unlocker to work. I do have a serial.
- jb update?.....No haven't attempted that.
- root?.....Yes but, no CWM
- tried another router?.....I haven't. My wife's tablet, laptop and both our phones connect.
Mine jus cycles saying Obtaining IP, Authentication problem.
Weird that it says Good or Excellent signal strentgh until I try to connect. Then, it instantly goes to Poor.
Geez...
Thanks to both of you for replying.

I would go ahead with the jb update... would allow a change in software with a gleaming chance of keeping root.
Yeah, that makes sense. Seems I'd have nothing to lose. Is there "1" method that folks are
using? I'll search for the instructions.
Thank you again

You could try deleting the saved connection and re-creating it. Has there been a recent firmware update on the router?
"You could try deleting the saved connection and re-creating it. Has there been a recent firmware update on the router?"
You know, I've long pressed on the connect and select "Forget" but the router still shows, and
of course says "Excellent" signal. If I press again it wants my password. Been doing this cycle
over and over. Not sure if there has been an update over the past few days as it is a router/modem
from Brighthouse. Still, my phone, my wife's TF101, and phone connect.

Well, this hasn't happened with my Prime, but I have seen it happen with another device - specifically one of my two Roku boxes. After a firmware update to my router, one of the two Roku's every once in a while will act just like your prime is even though every other wireless device (even the other Roku) does work. And, the one with the problems is much closer to the router than the one that works fine. Both Roku's have the same firmware even. Sometimes wireless just seems like its far from being an exact science.
I have found with my prime that it seems to help if I set it to either "g only" or "N Only" and not mixed mode. But that just seems to give me better reception - doesn't make any difference to establishing a connection in the first place.
Just getting little sicker each day. Definately not built for this. I went through every page and tab of my BHN Moto Surfboard router and could not see any where to select or change b, g, or n. I've even messaged (twice) this Josh person who has great youtube videos on how he was able to put the official Jellybean rom on his Prime. I was hoping for a fee, he would do mine but sadly, no response.
Sometimes I wonder if the heart ache is worth it all. MANY thanks to those that have tried to help.
John
Hey John,
If you didn't unlock your Prime this should work.
Download the right(US, WW, etc.) JB firmware(v.10.4.2.15) from the Asus site.
Copy it to a micro-SD card. Place it in your Prime and with the standard FileManager copy it to the root of your internal SD.
Reboot your Prime. You must see a yellow triangle in the lower right corner. That is the message to update to JB.
Hope it works.

Don't you have to unzip the initial download which yields yet another zip file and put that on your memory stick?

oops...
does the fact that I cannot get a connection on my Prime (yet?) matter?
State of the Prime
I downloaded and followed your instructions, placing the zip within the zip on my micro
and then using File Mgr, moved the zipped US_epad_user_10_4_2_15_UpdateLauncher file
to the root of my internal storage and rebooted. I did not get a yellow triangle but a blue one
in the notification area which said there is an update/. I clicked it and got the Green Droid with a
progress bar. When all that finished I ended up at an ASUS screen with the "powered by Nvidia Tegra in
the bottom right. It has been at least twenty minutes and has stayed on this screen.
I'm going to reboot again and if nothing changes, reboot holding power and vol down, followed by vol up.

Maybe you can use this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909820
My problem is that I'm stuck on a pretty much black screen. I cannot even turn off the Prime.
The only way is to drain the battery. When I hold vol down and power, it clears and vibrates
but, comes right back to that same Asus screen. It's on right now.
lame update:
I was able to turn it off by holding vol up and power.
Sucks that just being able to turn it off is a good thing.
Your not unlocked I would send it in for warranty
I'd have to wonder at this point, if I'm void. I've had it since it came out. Plus, it
seems I bricked it. Trying flash the jb rom. As I say, it will not boot.
as if...LOL
the only way I can power off is, to hold vol up after I feel it buzz/vibrate
Wondering if removing the jb zip off of the internal root would do anything?
edit:
dumb ass me obviously because I cannot boot, I can't even get to the internal root.
does anyone think a rectangular device would fly, like a Frisbee?

Had same problem, this worked for me:
You Need:
PhoenixSuit
1) Install PhoenixSuit
2) Disconnect USB
3) Shut down tablet (Hold power for 10 sec)
4) Press and hold Home-button
5) Connecting USB (keep holding down Home button)
6) Press Power button 10-15 timer (While still holding down Home)
Now 1 of 2 thing happen
If 1: PhoenixSuit pops up and askes, want to reset? - Press yes.
If 2: Nothing.
7) Download stock Ainol firmware
8) Try to update tablet via PhoenixSuit (PhoenixSuit will say that i cant connect to tablet, but ask you to do step 1-6)
9) Do steps 1-6, and it should work this time. (well, did for me)
Hope this helps, else i got nothing

Relax guys. I need a bit of advice from you experts around. Onda unfortunately isn't available in my country and they say it's not being imported anymore due to problems.
So this is where I end up.
I need help choosing Ainol Novo 9 Spark or Ainol Novo 10 Eternal (known as Captain with 2GB ram and 1200x800 display)
I like the Novo 9 Spark but I read it has wifi problems ( which im not sure is hardware or software) and low speaker volume and it's retina display eats a lot of battery, doesn't support all apps and isn't good for 3D gaming.
Where as Eternal (Captain) has no WiFi problems until now (supports 150mbps), a better battery life (11000 Mah) and as its 1200x800 display it is much faster and has a decent volume. But it has a cheap poor performance CPU ATM 7029 and poor GPU GC 1000. As its new it lacks custom roms and stock repacks too ..
Which one should I go for?
I'll be buying either one this week.

To buy or not to buy
Properly the wrong post for this, but short:
- Do you like to "play around" with your tablet (setting up, installing new firmware, clocking ...)
- Expect to surf internet, read stuff and watch movies alot? (where the Retina display realy comes to life)
My experience is, that stock Ainol 9 suckes; terrible software/firmware.
An update to "Rom by x-calibur sdk 3.2 Yandex 0718" transformed my Novo 9 to not only a usable tablet, but acually a pretty good one.
Games it plays, see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175446 - All games i have tried works.
Hardware is fine, not the best, not the worst - (but then again, cant expect top-end hardware in a cheap-end tablets); all in all i find it more than adequate.
Especialy the Retina display realy does af difference, crisp clear, but comes at a cost, more work fore the CPU = shorter battery time and less speed - I find it worth it, still get 7-8 hours gaming at max brightness.
Worst Things:
- Wifi antenna is not the best, with at desent router/accespoint you get ok signal (40-60 %), but if you have a big house and low wifi signal in some parts of your house, this might not be the tablet for you. - Its a Hardware problem, so no easy fix, its possible to replace the antenna, but its not a big enough problem fore me to start disasembeling my tablet.
- Play store wont recognize tablet properly - Basicly i cant download anything i have to pay fore, amazon app store works, but just not the same - I get by with downloading apk and donating.
I have no experience with the Novo 10.

Sorry for my english. I got a Ainol Spark 9 updated to 4.2.2 with TWRP recovery. It turns off suddenly and when I try to turn on appears boot loop. I tried to update via PhoenixSuit pressing home button, conecting USB cable to PC and pressing 10 times nothing happens, Phoenix does not recognize the tablet.
Any suggestion? there is any way to hard reset the tablet pressing buttons?

When the tablet is completely off
1. Hold the Volume down button
2. Press and hold the power button. You will see a battery appear and a hear a beep shortly after. Release after about 15 seconds.
3. The device will now boot into boot loader with ability to hard reset.

hi All,
my SPARK 9, AINOL NOVO tablet started freezing repeatedly, and kept displaying that apps downloaded from google playstore were no longer compatible and stopped working. soft factory resets did not solve the problem as the apps kept misbehaving as before. i had to force close it after another episode of freezing by pressing down the power button. after this, the tablet did not come on again.
the tablet now shows the following symptoms:
1. not recognized by PC or phoenix software
2. does not display battery charging icon when connected to charger but tablet becomes warm after some time.
3. i have read that in order for phoenix software to recognize the tablet, one must use a screwdriver to bridge certain pins, but before proceeding , the pin configuration of the chipset in the tablet should be identified -as my tablet is also AINOL, but the spark 9-so i am posting the chipset pictures, pls if this procedure will work with the spark 9 kindly assist. i have tried to upload the pictures of the motherboard showing the two NAND FLASH chips on board, but the link does not display paths on my laptop but rather a URL.
there are 2 flash NAND's on the motherboard with these serial numbers"

i have downloaded this rom: Novo9-Spark-LX-20130422v1-1, i hope to flash it to the tablet once phoenix can recognize the tablet.

Does anyone else use Viper Audio with this rom? I find that the audio driver frequently stops processing when I stop playing music and then come back and play again. It will start processing again if I reboot the phone or even kill the Viper gui process. I've tried installing it as a user or system app but hasn't seemed to matter. Anyway, just curious if anyone else was having the same kind of results.
Hi everyone, hoping you all can help me with a problem I'm having with my phone. First, some specs:
ROM: Danvdh GPE 9/30
I am one of those lucky MDK users, I got the phone in May 2013 and rooted early
I had been running the NC5 modem for a while now with no issue. The problem started after I flashed the NG6 modem (from Surge1223's thread) in TWRP. Just fyi, here are the steps I took to flash the modem. Within TWRP, I flashed the zip file, cleared Dalvik/cache, then rebooted.
Almost immediately I started getting random reboots. It rebooted twice, then seemed to settle down, so I decided to wait a day or so to see what my phone would do. Sadly enough, it started rebooting again, so I gave up last night and reflashed the NC5 modem in TWRP using the same method as before. The phone was fine after that, until this afternoon. About an hour ago, my phone froze, and rebooted, but the screen cut off at the Samsung custom padlock boot screen. It seems to be off at this point, but I can't power on the phone without pulling the battery. After pulling and replacing the battery, the phone powers on by itself, but again cuts off at the Samsung boot screen, about 3-4 seconds into the boot process. I've tried booting into TWRP and download mode, with the screen turning off and the device seemingly freezing after 3-4 seconds. I'm at a loss as to what to do at this point.
I'm at work right now, but when I get home, I will see if Odin3 can make some sort of contact with the phone. Any help in the meantime would be greatly appreciated!
Sounds like you may have a bad dl. Re download. Turn phone off. Then boot into TWRP and reflash the modem zip. Not the non-halos.zip.

I would love to, but I can't.
I put a video up on Youtube showing what the phone is doing right now. I don't have 10 posts yet, so I can't post links, but if you go to youtube.com then add "/watch?v=3ey5xD9LodY" at the end of the URL, you can see what the phone is doing.
It is the only thing the phone will do. I've tried doing a hard reset by holding the power button, but nothing happens. All I can do is pull the battery and start this process again. If I hold the correct button combos, I can begin to boot into TWRP or download mode, but the phone cuts off/freezes like clockwork after 3 seconds.
I tried to get Odin3 to recognize the phone, but my desktop doesn't recognize that anything is plugged in when I connect my phone to it, so Odin3 by extension doesn't see anything.
Did you install the Samsung apps on your computer? You need them for the computer to recognize your phone.
To hard boot into recovery you need to hold power button and volume up at the same time, then let go of power button once blue writing appears on upper corner of phone.

I'm sure I have. I've been able to send adb commands to the phone in the past. Now however, my PC doesn't even see that a device has been connected to it (nothing shows up in the device manager, not even an unrecognized device).
The phone will no longer charge when I plug it into an AC adapter either (or at least the LED no longer lights up indicating it's charging).
I have tried booting into recovery several times. Each time, it will begin to boot into TWRP, the blue text, "RECOVERY BOOTING...", will display, then immediately afterwards, the screen will cut off and the phone will freeze, just like in the Youtube video I posted.
I'm afraid the thing is bricked...
So, I was talking to a friend about what's been going on with my phone. During the conversation, I started goofing around and smacking the back of the phone like 4-year-old me would an NES to try and make it work (ah, good times...). Believe it or not (and I did not touch the power button while doing this), the phone powered up and successfully booted!!!
It showed only 2% battery life, so I connected it to the AC adapter, but then a few seconds later the phone died again.
This occurrence leads me to believe there is something wrong with the battery, and leads me to another question. Can the S4 (or any other smartphone) run solely on USB power?
My roommate has a Galaxy SIII, I read the SIII battery can be used in the S4, so I will test the phone out with his battery when he gets back tomorrow, and update you then.

Have you tried a different USB cable/transformer? It sounds like you might just have a charging issue. Not enough juice to get it started.
Allowing a battery to cool down will give it more usable power, which as it heats back up will deplete again. This sounds like your situation... Power off for a few, restart it has enough to begin booting, then depleted again.
The phone cannot run on USB alone it needs the battery to sustain it's operation.
I have tried 3 USB cables, 2 AC adapters, and 2 PCs.
When this started on Friday, my phone was hooked up to my PC at work and showing about 50% battery, but it's possible something went wrong with the battery and it's stopped delivering any significant amount of power or accepting a charge.
So it turns out it wasn't the rom or new modem that was the problem, my battery has decided to kick the bucket. I tried my roommate's battery in my phone and it booted right up as if nothing was ever wrong! Strange that an OEM battery would just die like that, but I suppose that does happen from time to time. Thanks for the help!

I use it, and I've never had any issues with it. I would recommend reinstalling, but you've probably tried that already. Are you using the latest version of the app?

Yeah, I have tried reinstalling it, and I am using the latest version of the app. The fact that you haven't had any issues is encouraging. I'll continue to troubleshoot and see what I can find.
I keep getting this (in CWM touch)
Flashing Google Play Edition
Android 4.4.4
Enjoy!
format() expects 5 args, got 4
E: Error in /storage/sdcard1/danvdh-GE-4.4.4-09-30-2014-VZW.zip
(status 7)
installation aborted
Is it just a bad DL?
EDIT: Tried a new DL, same issue. I want to get this fixed asap
Is cm11 theme manager included in this rom?

It is not.
Hi there! Long time reader, first time poster (TL;DR below...but it should be a quick read anyways )
So I've been using this S2 of mine for almost 4 years now, haven't had any trouble (other than a couple of battery swaps). For the past 6 months or so I've been using CM 12.1 nightlies without issue.
The events:
- The other day, my phone froze (I wasn't using it when it froze, it was when I went to use it that I noticed...it was on the wifi selection screen if it matters), so I held the power button to shut it down, and when I powered it back up, it just froze at the Samsung boot screen (with the usual yellow triangle).
- At this point, I was able to reboot into download mode at will, but any attempt to boot to recovery just led to the freeze at the Samsung boot screen. Also, the phone would automatically reboot itself at this point any time I inserted the battery (I was of course putting the battery in and out trying everything I could).
- I would have reflashed from Odin at this point, but since I was away for a few days I just kept trying to reboot into recovery, to no avail. On one of these attempts (power+vol up+ home) it showed the Samsung boot screen, and then immediately shut down and I haven't been able to get anything onto the screen since
I'm now home, and I can't seem to fix it. If I plug the phone into a charger, the top half or so of the phone gets warm, and it also seems to get warm if it isn't plugged in and I try to power it up. I was thinking maybe the phone was maybe doing the same thing as before and just not showing anything on screen, but I blindly do the steps to get it into download mode, and Odin doesn't recognize anything (drivers are definitely installed). I have also tried other batteries, no luck.
Any ideas of what I might try? I'm willing to do anything. For the record nothing happened to the phone at all when this all happened (no dropping or water damage or anything, just my attempts at booting into recovery). Maybe I should try a jig? I'm also open to opening the phone if there's something I can do, though I don't have experience with this.
Thanks so much for any suggestions!
TL;DR: phone froze (running CM 12.1 nightly), held power to shut it down, and then consistently froze at the boot screen on any attempts to power it on. After a few attempts at booting into recovery (the phone would only freeze or enter download mode) the screen suddenly shut off and I haven't seen anything on it since no matter what I try. I can't think of anything that happened to the phone I'm open to any and all suggestions! Thanks
One sentence amongst your description stands out like a 'sore thumb'.....
That the device heats up towards the top when you attempt to charge it.......
Until you try a jig I can't be certain, but that heating coupled with a dead/unresponsive screen along with a lack of recovery and/or download modes (download mode is 'hardwired' into the device, and NOTHING should be able to corrupt it) are the primary symptoms of a failed motherboard.......
That is my opinion based on my experience in these forums and personal experience with a (now dead) S2 (one of two that I own).........
Get the jig just to be sure, but I'd be surprised if it had any effect.....sorry to be typing something you don't want to read, but you said it yourself, the device is 4 years old....it's been in service roughly twice as long as most smartphones, and they don't last forever....

Thanks dude! It's nice to have some idea of what happened. I am indeed very happy my phone has lasted me this long, and my friend is gonna give me an extra S2 she has anyways it seems so it's all good!
I'll try the jig and update here with the result (I ordered one online...will arrive in January sometime)...just in case anyone is curious.

Yeah....be good to know the results.....If only to confirm or refute what I've suggested.....

Sorry it took me a while...the jig was in the post haha. It didn't do anything at all (no response when I plugged it in) so I think it's safe to say you were bang-on and the motherboard failed! Happily using a new S2 (with CM13.0 now ) on behalf of my friend though.
Thanks again.
Sounds familiar. Happened to me also due to failed cyanogenmod update (CM13). Only thing that works is download mode, so i'm not given up hope yet.
I can't post a link but google ''Apply Update Failure samsung galaxy s II'' there's a thread about this on the cyanogenmod forum.

oh mine was just straight up dead...no download mode or anything visible on the screen (and nothing to do with CM13 either)
hope you get yours sorted out! have you tried reflashing anything via Odin while in download mode?
Its hard to tell you and hard to accept. You can almost give up the hope, your NAND Chip is just what we call " wear-out ". In the most cases no write is possible anymore, the funny part is -> sometimes read is still fine. If that is the case: The system is booting and working, but saving just nothing. The NAND is frozen to its state before it broke.
At our local store, customers come to us with issues like " Factory Reset impossible ", "Can't delete my Files" "Can't create files". All these Devices have inaccessible NAND's and inaccessible Recovery. Only Bootloader is working, but as the NAND is broken, flashing doesn't change anything.
