They are more tablet (Asus), but they still work on most phones anyway with ICS. Add if you have any!

Nice, it was surprisingly thorough and well organized.
Also your google doc is completely open to anybody editing? Not sure you want that. Change the share settings to read only.
@David
My guess is he wanted it open. He invited others to share.

So is this only for Apps in the Market (Google play) or can we add apps that we have saved on our comp? i have Better Keyboard 8.xx and Lock key, but not sure if I'm allowed to post. Can someone verify before I get myself in trouble?

Why aren't they on the market? I suppose you could, as long as you don't post paid apps. Just have to be weary I suppose, the list isn't forcing you to download anything.
Thanks for the list. That was me that you were "cell chatting" with.

Added aCar and Kairosoft games
I'd add BeWeather & Widgets Pro to the list of weather widgets.

You can add them...or at least the name and I'll find the links for them if you'd like.

Nice!!!
I read that CM10 does not have the feature that made CM7 really stand above all other roms. App permissions management. If this is true, I'd like to know why such a terrific feature was not brought over to the newer versions. I really liked that I could take away the ability for apps to "automatically start at boot."
Is there something built in to ICS / JB that negates the need for this feature to be in CyanogenMod?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed light on this.
Bump
After 95 views 0 replies I'm giving my thread a bump to the top.
It was never really stable in the first place, and caused FCs.
However, there are root apps that allow permissions management anyways, so if youu really want that feature just download one of those suckers

Thanks for the reply. It's a shame they took it out, even if it made some apps unstable. I'll look in the play store for something similar.

It was perfectly stable. The apps that FCed were just horribly programmed. Actually, what are Exceptions for ?

Somebody on the CM-Forum claimed to know that Google forced CM to drop permission management, otherwise they would have closed GooglePlay for CM devices.
There are 2 apps you could try ( look em up in the forum):
-LBE privacy guard
-Pdroid
I used Pdroid for quite some time and I quite liked it, because it spoofes app permissions. so no more FCs.
However, Pdroid corrupted my contacts and calendar while syncing with SyncMate. So I don't use it anymore.

If that is true, it's a real shame. I didn't know google used strong-arm tactics like that.
Finally!!
It's been over a year since I posted this question and it looks like I'm getting my wish.

Just rooted my phone...and I love being able to use the WiFi tether! A few questions:
1) Which of the bloatware should I remove and will it noticeably improve the performance of my phone?
2) How do I get rid of the WiFi notifications that always pop up and tell me there's WiFi nearby?
3) How do I get Sense 4.0 on this phone and what are the advantages/disadvantages of it?
Please keep in mind that I am an extreme noob and it was pretty incredible that I was actually able to root. In fact, I had to get help from a friend on it!
1) It will remove any background apps you don't need. Read up on which ones can be safe to remove.
2) While in Wi-Fi settings press menu then choose Advancedyou will see the option "Notify Me", deselect/uncheck it.
3) By flashing a Sense 4.0 rom and matching boot.img. There are a few good ones and really just as many bugs as any Sense 3.6 rom nowadays, so no need to worry on that.
If you need help, I'm only a quick PM away. I might not reply right away but I will gladly be of help.
EDIT:
Regarding your first question; flash a custom rom and not worry about bloatware.
Thanks, Snuzzo...much appreciated. Regarding #2, it was indeed unchecked. It says "Notify me, When launching apps, notify me when Wi-Fi is available"...not sure that's what I'm going for. Per your other recommendation, I'd assume flashing a custom ROM would help that.
Is there a good Sense 4.0 rom you'd recommend? Seems like I've seen that some don't jive with bluetooth...I use bluetooth a lot in my car. Also, what would you say are the benefits of 4.0 over 3.6?
I have tried them all, and so far I like Nils the best http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757357

Not being a real hardcore end user, I can't tell the difference. Worst one to ask in that respect. Checkout Hawknest's. Him and myself have been working on Eclipticrez for months now.
Quick clarification...the WiFi notification I'm getting is the one that shows up in the notifications bar at the top of the screen. Unchecking "Notify me" only keeps it from taking over my whole screen. I have unlimited data, so I'm uninterested in WiFi.
Flash NilsP rom and you wont have that problem anymore and everything works!
Ha--touche! I'll have to check that out.

Menu-->Settings-->Wi-Fi
then
Menu-->Advanced
Uncheck - "Notify Me"
Check - "Never auto turn on Wi-Fi"
And to add...
Props to Snuzzo. Someone who is clearly above the simple in and outs of this phone, who is capable of doing things WAY over most of our heads, taking time to respond to some beginner questions. +1 to him, and a lesson for the rest of you who would just scream "Use the search!!!"

Yeah, I have searched before and came up with the same answer. The notification still comes up in my status bar at the top of the screen. That's why I was wondering if there was another way to do it... I guess that was my question. I figured I might be able to remove a system file or something now that I have rooted.

Also, if you choose to try a ROM that doesn't remove it, sometimes someone has a file you can flash that will remove it, such as for the ViperRez ROM. You might even ask if that file works on stock rooted if you're not ready to flash a ROM yet. Here's a link to the one made for ViperRez, you can ask in/search the thread to see if it would work on another ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786277&highlight=viperrez
But really, you might as well flash a custom ROM. I'm running ViperRez and I like it a lot but I'm not able to connect my phone as a portable player to my car and I'm not able to get my contacts into my car either. I was able to do both on stock and on a GB ROM I was running. Am going to reflash it and see if it works, or try to get it set up on stock first then reflash. Other than that I really like the ROM.
I was thinking of trying out iRezone, that seems like it might be good too.
If after you flash a custom ROM you still have that wifi icon showing just check the ROM thread and see if someone posted a fix.
Hi all,
Note: This is only for jellybean roms.
First of all, check this link here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2079807&highlight=note
I have not tried this yet but if you read first post, it states it works with Original note.
I am going to try it when I have spare time mean while if anyone trys, let us know it works or not.
Cool-- talking someone else into risking their phone.
I tried install and run it. Looks like it works at setting but do not know how to activate it.
I guess nothing really risky since it is all through play store. At least nothing weird happen to my note. still trying to find how to use it.
Should put in title or at least first post that this is for Jelly Bean ROMs only.

I enabled apps and rebooted but no changes for me. I was expecting multi window icon in app like Note 10.1. Still not sure how to use it...
this is a multi-window manager
it manages the multi-window feature in tw based roms with that feature, nothing more nothing less.
there for it wont work on? thats right, roms without multi-window

Ouch.... I was excited bit for moment. Thanks for your answer Jamie.
Uninstalling from my note. :crying:
OK bare with me here,
When you pull up recent apps (holding down the home button) long press the app you want and move it to the top window. Then do the same with the app you want on the bottom.
It would be so much more convenient rather than the current method of holding down the back button. Then scrolling apps and setting them, etc.
I don't know if its possible but I thought I would share my idea and maybe get some of these great debs something to mess around with!
What do you guys think?

I gotta say i dig it. I am currently not a multiwindow user at all because of its implementation is "too many steps" at the moment.
wow yea that's a great way to implement mw, makes it so much faster to use.
Only issue is if you try to swipe left or right to close apps, you might enable this mode by accident. I think it's a great idea tho, if a dev can whip that up somehow it would be neat
oh and we need mwc that was on the Note II, make every app available in mw
Using the module "mw apps manager" in xposed installer, I have access to all the apps in multi window. I just hate all the steps currently to get what I want.
BTW, this note has so much potential.

It's available and working (assuming you've rooted, of course, and requires Xposed Framework to be installed): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bjbinc.mwmphone&hl=en

Why wait? Root is fun! Plus, with Xposed you don't even need ROMs to do most things. It's more work / trial and error, but you can change so much with the various modules. Go on, look down at your phone. Look at him, sitting there, silently begging to be rooted. To have his full power unleashed. Make your phone happy. Root the **** out of the little guy.

Haha well I've gotta exchange this one, . He's been bad on signal and he's (gasps) CHINESE!
I want a Korean one lol
This is great for convenience, but what about discoverability? There's no way you'd ever know this was there unless you read about it. That's fine for us power users, but for a regular user I think Samsung's solution might work better.
I'm not a developer by any means, I'm just wondering how hard this would be.
Long pressing the app thumbnail in recents gives you a context pop-up menu with two options. 'App info' and 'remove from list'.
It would be awesome to add just two more contexts to that menu. 'Add to top multiview window' and 'add to bottom multiview window' or something along those lines.
I would be willing to pay for someone to make this happen!
Multiwindow has been out since roughly the launch of the s3, so about 2 years... Its time to tweak it for convenience.
Sent from my SM-N900V using xda app-developers app
The funny thing is I was thinking about that same method for multi-window last week. That would be a much more convenient method or addition for those who want to use both or keep the current method.
