Has anyone else ever done this and can't reroot? Regaw method doesn't work either. No root method seems to work.

Is your bootloader unlocked? If you're running into trouble unlocking using regawmod method, try going to HTC dev site and doing the unlock bootloader process that way manually. I was running into the same thing until yesterday when I did that method. If you get unlock, just install twrp recovery using goomanager app (settings, then run/install openscript) and then flash supersu

Go here and click on select your device then go to All other supported models follow the instructions and you'll have an unlocked bootloader. Then you have to flash twrp recovery, and after that flash the rom of your choice

Yeah I eventually got it. Regawmod wouldn't reboot the phone into bootloader although it said it did. I manually put it in to bootloader,
then it would continue, only to stop at installing root. I copied the root file to sd, then went into recovery and installed that way.
PITA!

Can I just root my phone without unlocking the bootloader? If so, how do I go about doing that?
Thanks.
Not perm root. You have to flash a custom recovery to flash the root package. I believe you can temp root however.

Darn that sucks. Well thank you.
S off maybe? Since on s off you need to be locked and dont need to use htcdev and after you can change the dirtyracun logo to locked again

Yes. Use the DirtyRacun tool for the Dinc4G at unlimited.io. Be sure to follow the directions *exactly*. This process does not unlock the bootloader.
Somebody tell me what "unlock the bootloader" means. I only know about s-on and S-off.

Unlock bootloader is for flashing roms and kernels, without significant changes to the phone itself, s off gives you full acces to the phone, soffed you can flash radios bootimages bootloaders, and manipulate everything, also meaning a risk of completely bricking

Including completely and permanently bricking your phone
Worth it, but be careful.

ok - just wanted to make sure i was following correctly.
s-off is a step past simply unlocking the bootloader. doing either will allow you to flash roms / kernels / custom recovery? s-off will also make it a bit easier to brick your phone if you don't follow directions.
i rooted my original inc... s-off seemed to be the way to go on that phone which i did with no problems... maybe that made me braver than i should be
S-off is the way to go. Just stick with ROMs/kernels/radios for this phone. Flashing files for other phones will usually brick your phone.

motochopper would work. I don't have time to write it up, but you could use revone to unlock/s-off then use motochopper to root. Once you have root you could use Rom Manager or Goo to install a recovery.

Hello,
I am fairly sure you need root to use revone to S-off you device.
If you are able to get you bootloader unlocked(this you need a computer, maybe a library or school). You can use an app(link below) to flash a custom recovery to your phone then flash a root tool zip(link below) and give yourself root. You just have to get your bootloader unlocked.

That's a negative ghostrider. You can revone a virgin phone. It's my root process so I don't have to HTCDev unlock.
1. revone
2. install recovery
3. profit

Hello,
I'm not too sure what kind of file it is, but it isn't an app. I would probably say it is some type of bin file(could be totally wrong). I think your best bet to get root is google revone then read about it.
If you don't own a computer your find a public computer you can get adb and fastboot working on and use revone to unlock your phone. Then use fastboot to install a new recovery.
After all that you can get root, but the bottom line is you need a computer with adb and fastboot.
Hope that helps.

You say you're in college!?! There should be computers on campus, at the library, or a friend even. Download the files you need onto your phone, take a data cable with you and bam. Should not take more that 10 min.
Now that we have working recovery thx Bin4ry we can root our XZU with chainfires SuperSU.
1. Backup your TA partition
2. Unlock your bootloader
3. Flash via fastboot Bin4rys 510 Kernel with recovery CLICK
4. Download Chainfires SuperSU 1.55 CLICK
5. Boot into recovery and flash SuperSU.zip after flash select NO
6. Reboot and enjoy your rooted XZU with 510 firmware.
Here we come ! It can't be easy than this guys !
So this requires unlocked bootloader..
Currently I'm on rooted 510 using 475 kernel workaround. IF I want to try this method "without" unlocking my bootloader, can I backup TA partition on my current setup, unlock the bootloader (via flashtool, so my unlocked bootloader isn't registered by Sony, I guess?), flash recovery, flash superSU, relock bootloader via backup TA, and live happily ever after?
Just a thought, I'm already rooted anyway
Oh, and considering I'm going to use this method on future firmwares, can I use backup TA on my current 510 setup to relock the bootloader on the newer firmwares?
Should mention a step 0, to backup your TA partition.

Yeah, if you want to lose the XR DRM do this otherwise use a root method which doesn't require unlocking bootloader.

I can confirm that I have also rooted with this process. I have unlocked boot loader, then I just enable USB debugging and let the program run and done.
Only one concern, when using some programs, my buttons are now in Chinese. Does anyone know how to change this option?

You need to turn it off either by holding the power button until it shuts off or use the reset button before flashing.

I have an HTC One M7 that is bootloader unlocked through HTCDev, I was trying to flash a GPE ROM over CleanROM 5.1. While in TWRP before flashing the new rom I wiped data and internal storage together on accident. I have no OS, only TWRP. My pc will not pick up my phone so that I can sideload or push the zip file to my phone. All that I can do is go into TWRP. Please Help
