Msm_hsic_host wakelock - AT&T LG Optimus G

This wakelock is the bane of my existence. It follows me regardless OF whatever ROM or kernel I try. I've read all the threads I can find on it and it seems to be a problem with the Nexus 4 also. Franco's kernel seems to have resolved the issue. I know most of our kernels are based off of Faux's. So my question is a multi parter. Has Faux implemented the fix in his kernel as well? Is there something specific to the E970 that causes this? Or, is there something I'm doing wrong? Disabling background data, using Greenify , freezing apps, etc etc, have had no success for me.

That bug was resolved last year. It shouldn't apply to aosp roms built recently with the att JB radio or the hybrid modems by morrislee

I still see it as a pretty aggressive wake lock. If memory serves, it used to be worse though. This is on 9/23 pacman. Minimal use today, mostly in LTE coverage.

Just want to say that I've always seen this wakelock too. I'm running houstonn's 9/24 Carbon ROM with included kernel, but was also seeing it on CM 10.2.

My understanding of this is that the HSIC is the interface to many of the phone's sensors and other devices. The kernel interface implements those wakelocks for their operation, and different kernels seem to use them more than others, as we have probably all experienced. I've only used the stock ICS and JB kernels and I get fewer of these now on JB than I did on ICS for example, without changing anything else.
Ultimately though it depends on the apps you use and their use of the hardware features of the phone. The more they use those devices, the more of these wakelocks we'll see, and we can't get rid of them entirely.

Question about updated My Verizon app

I just noticed the My Verizon app was updated in the market and has a newly designed data usage meter. It still won't work on the Thunderbolt (at least the market version) but it looks like it also shows how much data was used from tethering. Is this what the update was or is it something completely different?? Here is a picture of the new app from the market.

Looking at the image and reading the description in the market seems to imply that's a wifi meter.

The patched (it was not leaked) app may cause undesirable effects for thunderbolt user and a Verizon developer reached out to xda, then I about it. Please don't post it to xda, my patch details were left because they are technically legal. Doesn't mean it is safe.

This is the .apk I used (http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/2265-port-s-voice-from-galaxy-s-iii/). It didn't work well though. Every time I said anything it would say network error. Anyone got one working?

I followed the instructions here http://bit.ly/M88mvg and flashed the ZIP with my recovery. S Voice really isn't needed now that the JB source has been released. It's only a matter of time before we have a working JB ROM and in turn have 100% working Google Now
So JB has a much better, stable working S Voice?

No. JB has a much better, more stable working Google Now Which blows S Voice out of the water
Good to know. I found a good .apk for S Voice that was modded I suppose. It's cool to have, but I do imagine Google Now being better.

Have you tried CPU Sleeper?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745516
I used to have similar problems that you are currently having, but they stopped after installing that app. It does an awesome job of preserving battery life when the phone is on standby. I also used Titanium backup to freeze some apps that I dont use. The list can be found here:

I am running the Rogers stock rom (rooted) + CPU Sleeper. Feel free to PM me if you need more info or have any questions.
Been playing around more it seems to be the root causing it.. what root are you using?

I hear this is semi-antiquated advice (I say semi because I'm not entirely sure that it doesn't help)
but have you tried to charge your battery all the way up and calibrate it?
Also...it seems that you have a voice mail. You should certainly check that, don't want to keep anyone hanging lol

Here is a link to the app I use (although there are others ofc):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...xLDEsImNvbS5uZW1hLmJhdHRlcnljYWxpYnJhdGlvbiJd
Charge to 100% and while still plugged, open the app grant root and calibrate. Then you want to use your phone until its at around 5% battery and charge it all the way back up to 100% before using it and then you should be good. If not, then we can look into other alternatives ^^

Need for Speed Most Wanted

Does anyone have this app working 100% on an AOSP-based ROM and if so please describe your setup or steps you took to get there (ROM, kernel, dev options etc)?
I hate knowing the only way I can play this awesome game is by flashing a Sense ROM.

Well I can get it to install and play the first race just fine if I choose not to restore my data from TIBU. Sometimes I can play a few races more too. After a reboot though it will load up all the way to the point to where the next race should be then it chokes and completely freezes the phone making me hold the power button to reboot.
I've tried it on Deck's kernel, komodo (current), and whatever one comes with a CMX nightly download. I've tried multiple combinations of performance/dev options to no avail. I've tried swapping mount points and I've tried moving the app to SD/internal.
Nothing but a Sense ROM makes it playable 100% and I hate Sense.

Thicklizard, I flashed your newest kernel and removed NFS Most Wanted + data and then freshly installed the app again. This time it froze right as it was about to finish loading the first race.

I've got it working 100% now. I flashed the latest cmx nightly and the only dev option enabled is SD card debugging.
I have no clue if it would work if I went back to an older ROM. Maybe it was a user error of some sort?
