I was wondering can I install a rom kexec on the stock slot with Safestrap?

Mostly ur RAZR will brick coz my Frnd did the same and bricked anyway he fixed it by flashing stock

Yes. A lot of people do it.

What kexec roms are compatible with stock slot using safestrap?
CM builds after 8/30 works.
All other ROMs that use the CM source should also work.
Its better you decide what ROM you need and see the specific thread.

Just curious, as I've seen this request before, why would you want to overwrite you're stock? Instead of leaving it unused as a safety? Keeps you from having to rsd back in the event of a... catastrophic failure. Haha.

Because I like roms better then stock and Safestrap does not provide enough space on other slots.

There are already some custom rom working on ics. See miui, unofficial cm9 and aokp and clean aosp. there are on droidhive.
Only the gsm don't have much
I agree. Wait for Kexec, bypass for custom kernels (that's how I understand it). If he gets that up and running, errr when he gets that up and running, we will probably have JB roms floating around. Give it time, and you will receive all (hopefully) the custom roms that you can handle.
Yes we finally have a developer who is building Paranoid Android for our razrs
It is still in very early stages but here is the link https://plus.google.com/u/0/114621734845479453273/posts/j6qVdCCigMS
Press thanks if you are interested in seeing paranoid on our razrs
And post below if u are willing to test
and do +1 the dev on his g+
Hmu if you need testers

It's not ready yet for the RAZR... More test builds coming soon.

I'll certainly do my best to test if needed. Please PM me if I am needed lol.

New builds have been uploaded for testing.
Flash at your own risk and be safe about it. No promises that these will boot..

I had flashed recent build and it was smooth sailing except for a screen rotation glitch.
Hey guys, just some things I've been curious about lately. I just updated to MI1 and rooted it. Is there any way to download safestrap and install custom ROMS such as CM 10.1? Can maybe give me the link to a YouTube video showing me how to flash roms with safestrap? Someone please confirm (or deny) affirmatively whether or not I can flash specifically CM and if not, what about any other ROM? I would probably prefer the stock 4.3 ROM over anything

you can not use cm roms or any 4.3 has to be 4.2
But 10.1 is 4.2.2
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You can only use stock kernel with safe strap and cm has there own kernel so it won't work
What about AOKP or the stock 4.3 ROM?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
TW only. Stock kernel only.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
Are there any AOSP based ROMS that allow use of the stock kernel? If not, are there plans to show custom kernels in SS?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It is impossible for an AOSP rom to be based on the stock kernel. There is a list of safestrap compatible roms in the general section, I would suggest Eclipse as it has AOSP styling.
Kexec support is being worked on which will enable custom kernels, but its going to take a long time.

Wow, I only like AOSP based ROMS. Is there any way at all to flash CM or AOKP onto my rooted S4?

Why is it that I could flash with MDK and not with newer versions? Something with kernels?

That's because the bootloader in the S4 is locked, and will not boot an unsigned recovery (i.e. an official one from Samsung.)
There's a bug in the MDK bootloader that allows bypassing that check, which allows a custom recovery to be installed and booted.
That custom recovery then allows you to install whatever ROM you like.
Releases after MDK have that bug fixed so there's no way to use a custom recovery. Safestrap allows you to start a custom recovery by using the standard kernel to get Safestrap loaded and started up. Since it's not running on the bare metal of the phone, Safestrap can't overwrite the bootloader or kernel, so you can only use ROMs that work with the standard kernel.
Eventually, if kexec gets working, Safestrap will be able to host nonstandard kernels, making many more ROMs possible.
That is sweet because I really want to try CM or AOKP. I will probably like AOKP better but who knows. Can I expect this update allowing for custom kernels soon?

Who knows? That's why I said "if kexec gets going". If the devs can't figure out how to boot a custom kernel, Touchwiz-based ROMs are it.
Oh okay. Thanks a lot though hopefully kexec does get going cause I'm not a big fan at all of touchwhkz
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Since this Rom will be dual booted (my main touchwiz primary Rom and this secondary AOSP rom), I want to find a fun AOSP Rom to mess around with. Can anyone suggest a 4.4. (Kitkat) rom that is packed with features in it. I remember hearing some rooms have multi window support? Anything like that would be awesome.

Because of what the guy above stated, you need to try out ROMs for yourself to figure out what is best for YOU, also there have been many many threads asking this exact thing and they always get locked. I'll give you one option for aosp.......Vanir ROM.

Why do AOSP ROMs not work with Safestrap?

Because the bootloadet is looking for the stock legit firmware signature., without unlock we can't change the stock I'd OR tell it don't look for stock Id anymore. This is simpliest explanation.

Well, until kexec gets figured out, safestrap only allows us to use the stock kernel... which only lets us run touchwiz. If we could run other kernels, AOSP wouldn't be out of reach.
