im confused, as u can see in screenshots below if i press the 'move' option it said 'this app will be moved to phone storage'. and if i press ok and wait it moving. the app actually moved to my sd card. shouldnt it be 'this app will be moved to sd card'?
Sent from my HTC Desire X using xda app-developers app
this is important, because i wanna buy sony device soon, and most of them complain they cant move their app to sd. who knows, maybe they didnt know if it says 'this app will be moved to phone storage' actually move the app to sd card? the same case as desire x?

The apps will be moved to the phone's internal storage, so they will not be affected if the phone is connected to the PC

what i meant is that, if you are on jellybean desire x, go to any third party app info such as XDA in sense>app drawer>manage apps>and find XDA app, and theres 'move' option if its not grayed out. then if you press it, it says 'this app will be moved to phone storage', and if i press ok, then the app actually moved to my sd card instead of Phone storage. im confused....

I understand what you mean ! But I guess its actually moved to SD card ! If you see android secure through recovery you'll find all the moved apps in your SD card !

OK so basically I went from gingebread to jellybean by going to ICS in between. Whilst on ICS I noticed that the internal SD card wouldn't mount and in recovery it showed all of the file folders that there should have been but nothing in them. Now I'm on jellybean its the same. Is there any way to get it back to normal without going to stock?

check in file explorers for EMMC that will be your ext sd, if it shows up that way, look for an app on xda called RemountSD that will make your ext sd be shown as ext sd instead of emmc

I just get this.
OK what's happened is that the two files that I put on the external SD card are in download and nothing is in the external SD card file. I just need my internals back.

Update: I can't take a screenshot of notifications but that other screenshot I took, in notifications under the screenshot it says SD card is currently in use and shows a USB symbol although my phone is charging from a wall socket.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Try...from that screen press favourites, hopefully your get this (screenshot)
then press the phone icon and hopefully your get (2nd screenshot)
from there hopefully your find all your stored ext sd files in the emmc folder. If that is the case the i would recommend finding the RemountSD apk on xda, it saves alot of confusion finding your files

Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
from there press the phone icon and you should get my 2nd screenshot appear (root folders etc) the emmc folder should be in there aswell
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
This is what I get. There was 2 lines more but thy were nothing.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Only thing i can suggest is if its nothing is in your extSD folder in that area then as a long shot, try fi ding and using the RemountSD app, do a search on the xda forum, it should be easy to find, once its installed tell it to remount and hopefully that will solve your problem and everything will be found on ext sd
this is the link to the app, hope that helps

Thanks for the help but the apo didn't do anything because I think the locations are wrong. I'll try reverting back to stock gingerbread or ICS later...

No probs, hopefully someone will be able to help out more, i've not used any JB roms yet, if your looking for something custom but close to ICS the neutrino rom is quite good, comes with the remountsd aswell, i've not had any probs so far over the last month or 2 using it

Can you access it from recovery, mounts and storage and back them up to a pc. Not practical but at least you might salvage your pics.
Also I used ICS SD binder with no problems, you have to change the file path from emmc to extSdCard though otherwise it won't find it.

Apparently all it needed was a factory reset/wipe data.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Edit I was wrong. Basically I wiped and rebooted into f1 pure gnex rom. Went into camera and behold my 500 pictures were there but all blank. I then rebooted again and they all disappeared.

I'm working on a port, and I got it booting up everything working great.
Except I cannot access my SD card at all. I can't take screenshots or use apps that need the SD card either.
And my SD card is not full. I still have 2 gigs left.
Also, when I press storage in settings, the app crashes.
Any help? And I ported the ROM from the MyTouch4G Slide to the MyTouch4G.
Or have I missed some SD card file or something...
Anyways thanks if you could help

So I lost all my pictures during the update process. I thought it was going to be similar to flashing a ROM where the DCIM folder is untouched.
Is there anyway to recover photos lost?
**** ME.
How did you update?

The computer. The OTA update kept freezing. I'm religious about backing up....lost about month of pictures.
The instructions on the website state if you use the computer method you will lose all data. I looked at it earlier because the thing is moving so slow.

4.3 puts pics in a different folder, you didn't lose them. I cant remember the names of folders, but if you search you will find them. then use file explorer to copy them do the new default folder. SDCARD vs SDCARD0 i think

I thought it was weird that 6.6gb were used in "other" after the update. I can't find them exploring the phone. Any idea where they're hidden?

So when you open your gallery there is nothing? When connecting via usb to computer it's empty. Going from 4.1. To 4.3 changegs the way the root folder is shown. It would show up as sdcard0.

Then I would assume they are gone. If they got moved they'd still be showing up in some gallery app or computer.

You can try to find some file recovery software and see if that finds anything.
I'll give that a go when I go home. Its just I lost a lot of pictures with sentimental value to me :-/

What do you want to save there? If it is system files, you will need to root your phone. Else just save everything under /sdcard/...
Its for the apps guess i will have to root
Sent from my HTC Desire X using xda app-developers app
Yeah. Then, if you're rooted, you can use apps like Link2sd. Or, before you root, you can check if some of the apps support direct moving to sd. Some do. But not all of them...
Tryed moving them but it never works so guess I have to root going to be a fun task be a new phone soon I bet

From what I have read (though your English is barely understandable (commas man, commas!)), all of your apps filled /data partition. Which means, you should move apps to /sdcard from Settings
Sorry I'm dyslexic. All my apps are on the sd card so not sure what is taking up the space
