why?

usually dual boot requires a larger system

It requires a device with a big amount of internal storage and it also requires a recovery capable of multiboot, we don't have either of those.

You need a kernel which allows dual boot. Second rom could be on sd card so memory is not a problem. But we don't have that custom kernel

Internal 2 External memory

Greetings,
I have been busy with this for 4-5 days now and nothing works.
i just resetted everything and started from scratch.
can anyone explain me how i change internal to external memory i gotten a :
64 GB Mobile Ultra microSDXC card Class 10 (30MB/s) SanDisk
And my firmware is:
4.2.2
My Phone is:
Samsung galaxy s4 GT-I9505
Hope someone can help this noob out.
Need my phone to be ready befor end of the weekend (holliday)
So all the help is welcome.
Installed:
Clockwork installed now
Superuser rights.
only need help how to install the external to internal memory now.
Im not quite sure what youre getting at but ill give it a shot. Theres no way to swap the internal to external memory. Apps and their data get stored on the internal storage. By default theres only a couple things you can have saved to the external memory card. There is an app called folder mount that allows you to save apps/data on the memory card though.

Thats what im tryng now.
Tobad clockwork is not working again
you know a good 1 thats works for GT-I9505?
Thats a mod, i generally refer to conventional means of doing stuff. Anyway ive never used that and it doesnt store everything on the sd. Apps still get saved to internal storage while data/resources get saved to external. Like I said I would check out folder mount. See if that suits your needs.

Once you install a custom recovery yoj cant boot to stock recovery because its overwritten by the custom version. Thats a mega thread for everything i9500 and i9505. I would try reflashing the recovery to see if it fixes it. If not you might have to odin back to stock. This is also the verizon specific forum for the s4 so posting in your devices specific forum would probably get you more help.

Thanks for all the help ill reinstall the offical firmware hope that helps the solution.
ill try the folder mount hope it works becoas my phone is full fast when i download a couple of games.
Not a problem. Glad i could point you in the right direction. If you made any backups you might want to move those to external storage. They are fairly large. I have a couple 1 gig+ games and several smaller ones and still have 5 or 6 gigs left.

Well the main problem was when i install a couple of games the main memory is full way to fast
thats why i wanted and hoped the swap would help the problem.
tho i just made more problems and consumed to mutch time :silly:
i think i just have to stick around on the problem and hope samsung will fix of have a solution to this in time.
i did not make any backups. so i just have to start frome scratch tomorrow.
thanks for all the help again and gl helping others.
You could also try the app Folder Mount in the Play Store here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.fmount&hl=en this will allow you to put the "data" folders associated with larger apps on the SD card. If you are looking to swap internal to external memory the other suggested thread will help you do that. There are pro's and cons to it and when you factory reset or change ROM's you need to do it all over again.

Kernels...

Okay, so as a new Android user, I've so far experienced my first phone, annoying stock apps/ROMs, the joys and hazards of rooting and installing custom ROMs, and experimenting with advanced settings and utilities.
Now, I think, I am ready for kernels.
I bought an OTG cable, and I cannot get my exFAT drive to show up. My coworker says it's because I have a stock kernel.
Does anyone know what kernel I need?
I'm using a VZW GS4 with CM 10.1 RC2 rooted.
Also, providing me with links where I can learn this ish would be awesome. Thanks!

I couldn't get CM recovery to recognize my 64gb exfat card. Id'ld goomanager from playstore & used it to install TWRP which recognized my card, no problem. Nandroid backup & then flashed Hyperdrive. Happy as a Skylark!

Personally I would just recommend re-formatting your card to Fat32 as it's super easy (literally takes like 60 seconds), and you won't run into any problems where your phone won't read it.
Here is a reasonably easy guide on it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773735
Otherwise you need a kernel that will recognize Exfat, which now there are alot more than there used to be due to the source code being released.
Out of all the custom kernels for the S4 I would recommend KT747 most highly. It is without doubt the most popular kernel for the S4 and has enough features to keep you busy for weeks. Plus it's always being updated. If you do not want to reformat your card to Fat32 this kernel will read it. Here is the thread for it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294083
I would highly highly recommend installing TWRP recovery instead of CWMR as it's much easier to use and just a better recovery in my opinion. It doesn't have a problem with Exfat either. To install it just download the app Goomanager from the play store. Open it, grant it root privileges , then hit menu, then "installopenrecoveryscript" it will automatically install TWRP recovery over CWMR.
Good luck.

A strange thing about cwm recognizing exfat is that when I re-loki'd cwm 6.0.3.2 touch and made my own flashable zip it finally recognized my exfat card and allowed me to make back ups, etc. I don't remember if I made any other changes or not, I made a lot of flashable recoveries yesterday (see here ) also I cant get it to work on any other version of cwm. Im on stock mdk kernel.

Like I said, your best bet is to just reformat your card to fat32 and then you don't have to worry about it, and you won't need a custom kernel or different recovery just to be able to use the card. In that link I gave there is basically a one click tool to reformat to fat32. It's incredibly easy.

Guys,
This isn't an internal SD card. I bought on OTG cable. I have a thumbdrive I want to move files between on and off my phone with (Basically a music and movie repository).
I cannot get the drive to mount on my phone. I was told it's because of the kernel. It's currently formatted exFAT.

No I use twrp so Im good. I was just stating that ive got exfat to mount using cwm using the stock kernel recently, but I thought op was talking about an external sd. Plus I dont want to have to transfer everything to my pc to reformat for no reason/benefit.

OP have you tried to download an app that would allow you to mount it? Also did you try using twrp's usb otg mount option in the mount menu?

Out of curiosity, how did you get it working? That thread states in the beginning that the USB storage doesn't work..? I had been under the impression that these (high-end Samsung) devices had OTG enabled since I have been explicitly testing for this due to some developments I'm working on...

[Q] need help!

Hello guys,i have strontium 64GB MicroSD,i want to use it on moto e,Motorala's forum confirmed that device can run larger cards than 32 GB but needs to be formatted!, but actually i don't want to format it in fat32 file system(due to it's 4gb restriction, and also i can't as it's 64GB using windows ) and due to licence restrictions exfat, ntfs support is not available in Android's kernel, So guys is their any other way to support such file systems?
I heard cyanogenmod's kernel supports exfat,ntfs..but it's not available on moto e...guys please help!

Actually i mean that after formatting to ext4, Android doesn't read it as external SD.I have installed Minitool partition in my PC. [emoji6],All i need is custom kernel for stock rom with exfat or ntfs support...
I think you are confusing two issues here. First is the inability of the moto E to recognize exfat SD cards because Motorola didn't pay the license fee like other companies. For instance the first notification you get if you put a 200 GB SD card into a Blackberry DTEK 50/60 series phone is that MicrosfotExfatforBlackberry (which is the driver that allows the phone to recognize high capacity cards) is downloading and installing.
The second issue is moving applications to an SD card. That ability was severely restricted by Google with the advent of android 4.
Your best option to deal with the second issue is to go to settings-applications and move whichever apps allow you to move them on an individual basis.
Remember that as capable as the E is, it is still a budget phone and won't have the same features a flagship like the DTEK 60 or Pixel does.

[Q] Help With Dual Boot Galaxy P3113

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Model P3113. I rooted it yesterday. I did install the ClockworkMod Recovery but, Did not install the firmware yet. I am very interested in keeping my stock firmware on the internal and running cm-10-20121106-NIGHTLY-p3113 on the sd or external. I found this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1866675 but, I do not know where to begin other than make the new partitions on the sd card. I'm sorry I'm very new. This is the first device that I've played around with. Thank you in advance for any and all help.
I explored CWMR and found that I can mount my sd card and when I do it shows the partitions I made. Would I be able to flash a custom rom to the external while I was mounted to it?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Free mobile app
I cannot figure out how to edit my rom for dual boot. I'm using Baked Black Bean 6 and want that on the external so I can have the stock rom on the internal. The partitions are made on the sd card. I was able to run convert.sh through cygwin on Windows 7 and everything said it failed but was complete. After it was finished i flashed it in recovery and when i rebooted I think it flashed the internal because it stayed on the boot animation. The convert process did fail. Any help?? Thanks.

Rom on stock slot. Need help.

Hello I recent decided to try another custom rom. And I seem to have a problem. How to I give all or most of my internal storage to the rom installed via SS? Here is a screen shot. Seems my internal storage is split in 2 I want to feed my three gig some of that unneeded eight gig that's just sitting there... Do I need an unlocked boot loader in order to have that option?
bumping
I don't understand your question...
Our phones have 16gb,4gb is reserved for the system,4gb for apps and 8gb for other stuff.
And we can't change that...

Yes,it should.
Maybe you have a few backups of the roms or something else takes up memory,I suggest that you format it...
