Hoping someone can tell me how to save my data. I was running custom recovery TWRP and switched to CWM after the phone would randomly hang on reboots. After flashing back now in TWRP I couldn't get anything to work. Everything would fail. Long story short I have now did the ODIN back with the odin file that doesn't wipe data. Problem is the phone just hangs at Samsung splash screen. I can get to stock recovery and I can get into ODIN, I feel like if I wipe my device it will be back up and running. There anyway to get my daughters pics off the phone before wiping. thanks in advance and I feel like I already know that there is no way but was holding out hope....
If there is some way for you to get a custom recovery back, which I believe there is if you have the old ME5 through ODIN, you should be able to mount USB storage from Recovery and transfer them to a computer

After soft bricking for the 20th time I gotta ask how anyone ever recovers with a backup without first having to use Odin to flash back to stock? I can boot to the stock recovery, I have clockwork installed, I click reinstall packages hoping to get into clockwork but it never works when I need it to. I miss AmonRA...something doesn't work I can just enable usb in recovery, put the file I need on the sd so I can just flash it.
Ya, ok, I'm just venting but still I would like to know how this gets done, or if everyone just uses odin and then flashes their backup,
Hello all,
I want to give my friend my Galaxy Note. Due to this, I attempted to do a factory reset from the settings menu, but it would reboot to TWRP instead and get locked in a boot screen. I tried flashing a third-party ROM (CM), but stupidly forgot to wipe the device since I thought I had done it before, resulting in it hanging at the boot animation. Could someone point me to the right direction on how to restore the device to Stock using a tool like Odin? Thanks.
P.S. Does anyone know how to get into TWRP? I can't seem to find a key combination, I have to do it from the TWRP application (yet I can't access the application).
UPDATE: I have managed to get into TWRP, however restoring fails, as it goes back to the TWRP logo. Wipe also does not work.
Solved, what I did was flash a recovery via Odin, which resulted in an error. Kies detected it since it had an error, so it was able to be restored.
Selling my galaxy S4 which is running cm12.1 rom and the guy who bought it wants me to keep it on cm and keep the bootloader on the mdk build.
for some reason i thought it would be a good idea to go into the phone, go to backup and recovery area and do a factory reset. the phone rebooted, and now its just looping at the TWRP screen. it just flashes it every few seconds, doesn't seem to be rebooting the phone, just recovery. if i pull the battery and throw it back in, phone will try and boot back into recovery and I have the same issue.
is there a way to reflash TWRP via odin? or even clockwork mod? just need something to get into recovery with or how else can i fix this? I really want to avoid doing an odin flash back to stock MDK, then rerooting and then reflashing a cm12.1 rom.
Hi all
I hope that I am posting in the correct place
I need help with my Galaxy S3 SGH-T999
Recently the phone died on me, it was stock rom and with the updates through some of the apps, the phone stopped working correctly. I don't use the phone for making calls, etc, but need it for pictures and a few other apps. The phone is from T-mobile.
I tried to reset the phone and that worked until all the updates were back on and then back to the same problem.
So I decided to put on a custom rom on the phone.
I have tried the following roms:
cm-14.1-20161225-NIGHTLY-d2tmo
I9300XXUGNB6_I9300OJVGNB3_I9300XXUGNA8_HOME
RevolutionaryS5-V3
Slim-d2tmo-6.0.1.alpha.0.1-UNOFFICIAL-20160516-1346
I first installed CWM recovery and then transferred the roms over to the external sd car (also the internal card), went to boot manager (vol up) and installed the files.
It looked like the installation worked but when selecting reboot, the phone would not come back on.
I then loaded up Kies and reset the phone back to factory defaults and only then does the phone load back up after reboot.
Every time I try the custom rom - I run into the same problem
At first I thought the phone was bricked and found info about the jtag and then found something about using an SD card with the following image installed on it - tmobile-T999_4.3_debrick
With the SD card in the phone I can boot to either menus and also able to get the phone to boot to the slim-d2tmo rom. But when I pull the SD card, the phone won't boot. Nothing, no power, nada
I am not sure what I did wrong, followed the direction on the site and thought I did it correctly.
Not sure if I deleted some file, or partition needed or what. I would greatly appreciate some help with this.
Also I would like a custom rom that is stable and fast. I don't need all the bells and whistles but one thing I would like and that is for the camera to be able to take pictures using voice. I know the stock rom allows for this. Not essential but preferred.
Please help with detailed instructions.
Thanks in advance.
It,s amazing
Please elaborate. What's amazing.
Boot into download mode and confirm the model # of the phone. I see you tried to flash I9300XXUGNB6_I9300OJVGNB3_I9300XXUGNA8_HOME which not for the the T999, it's for the gt-i9300.
I want to flash Ressurection Remix on my Samsung Galaxy S3.

OPen Odin, uncheck everything except f reset time. Flash TWRP. When you see the word "reset" in the status window, remove the USB cable from the phone, remove the battery, replace the battery, boot directly into recovery.
Plugged in my old Captivate the other day to charge, and when I came back to it, was stuck in CWM. And would not boot into OS. I have some pics and videos I would like to pull off of it. I tried flashing to stock with Odin, but no love. Tried various kernels and CWM's and non of them will mount /sdcard. As far as I know it hasn't been wiped, as everything I've done says it can't mount /sdcard. Thought it was on CM11 but the boot logo looked like CM10.
Have been trying this http://howtorecover.me/data-recovery-internal-storage-android-phone-guide, but I am stuck at the "Making an image of Android internal storage". And not even sure this will work because I have to do everything in Recovery.
Can log into ADB and do some stuff while in Semaphore_KK_3.4.2c with "adb device= 3935DD422FE700EC recovery"
managed to get "list_of_partitions.txt" (attached)
Is there anyway to repair mount without wiping or retrieve my files?

Hi there,
Well if you're able to boot into the custom recovery then you can use the adb feature to make up a backup of all the files

Great, so can you direct to a way to do it? Stuck on the above guide. Was stuck on SU privileges but aftter finding my current recovery and flashing su.zip every rime I boot the phone. Seem to be passed that. When I get to abd try to copy image it doesn't work.
Also I have read in some the posts that restore in recovery doresn't wipe personal files. Is that true?

Yeah there is a way before I say it What phone are you using again?
well in some cases and on some phones when you change the recovery to a custom one all data will be destroyed
so can you actually boot the phone and does it goes into the homescreen?

It's a Samsung Captivate sgh-i897, will not boot into OS. Everything I've tried flashing was with Odin. tried a couple one-click stock odin installers. But even those would get blocked by mount error when the phone would reboot to install the OS.
Try this

Hi there,
Okay so have you tried using Samsung Keis software it should help you to restore that phone however I'm not sure that you could the recover your old files on that phone but you can try various phone recovering software
Kies won't let me connect through recovery or download. Tried doin factory reset in recovery and that doesn't work either.
Hello,
I am pretty sure that the old Android phone cannot give your data back if you have saved any files after losing old data. New data might have overwritten the previous deleted files and you cannot retrieve them again. But if you have not saved any files after deleting then I must say, you can restore the files using a recovery program (androiddata-recovery.com/android-phone-recovery.php).
Going through this will allow you to get back every data deleted from your old Android phone without any backup. It is easy to use and one of the best reliable software to recover lost files from Android phone.
