Rom similar to cleanrom - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I know he stopped updating his rom a few weeks ago. Is there anything similar out? Tried a few recent roms and they just don't have the smoothness and stability of cleanrom so I went back to my back up after about 4 days.

Just switched from AT&T. I was on CleanROM and GoldenEye which were perfect in terms of speed, stability, and battery life. HyperDrive has been fun. Battery life is quite good. I flashed without a lot of the extras in the AROMA though. Kept it as stock as possible. Going to give BoneStock a try soon. I've used KT, Greenify, & Comadose/CrossBreeder on all of the ROMs I've run on both devices.

I love beans. Perfect blend of speed stability and battery life. In fact, try them all! I also tried Bonestock and Hyperdrive both are great!

I just made a me7 stock root deodexed rom for safestrap. I tried to make it as much like cleanrom as possible. I removed bloat (but made a zip of all removed apks) activated all toggles and enabled tethering by default. Plus a bunch of other random tweaks. Maybe ill post it up later.

Asking for Rom recommendation is not something we support here on XDA. Users should go through the development thread read and try out what they find that might be what they want. Here all you will get is a free for all of users listing what works for them.
Second point is that questions belong in the Q&A section not in the General section.
Thread closed.
Have a great day!

Addicted to flashing ROMS

I love our somewhat reliable/stable JB ROMS (thank you, XDA Devs!!) But losing stock Note functionality with S-Pen (double-tap for S-Memo, press and hold for screen capture, Photo Editor) always kept me running back to stock Touch Wiz. I was a flash-ahloic til something I did broke GPS and made it unusable. So I Odin-ed back to stock and still couldn't get GPS working. Eventually, I took my Note to the AT&T Device Support Center and they flashed the most current Samsung Firmware and I'm good to go. I've been Stock, non-rooted for 28 days, 11 hours and minutes LOL.
So I've resisted even rooting my Note at this point. Just been playing around with different launchers and widgets. It's still fun just customizing the Note to my liking. But I found that lags and freezing still even happen on Stock non-rooted, things I used to blame on any particular ROM I'd flashed.
Now the flash addiction is creeping up on me...

I feel the same way. I have been a flashaholic since i had sonys xperia x10a. I, myself, have fallen in love with jellybam on the note. it has treated me quite nicely. no forcecloses. only one reboot but i dropped my phone so i think that was just from the battery popping out and in. other than that this rom is near perfect. its the best of all worlds. amazing battery life. hopefully we will be getting all those extra features soon when the official jb comes out.

Got the perfect cure for your flash addiction...try one of the Padawan Roms!!! My wife has been running V7 and now V8 for over a month...and has had 0 yes, zero. restarts or hiccups, I was amazed!!! The v8 is based on the rom from singapore, it's fast tight, and has lots of tweaks built right in...and it's a touchwiz rom so all the spen stuff works great. I'm a convert. Good luck

I liked the Padawan ROMS, that guy is a great developer. I'm amazed that he doesn't even have an AT&T Galaxy Note, but he does solid work. The only thing is that I'm not so fond of the blue themed icons.

Addiction is what I have, I downloaded everything I needed to root and flash a custom Rom before I received my note. The minute I received it, i rooted it and flash a custom rom. That's addiction.

Just an update:
So I ended up flashing Jellybam and what a joy that ROM was! So many customization options and it just ran smooth. That is until I got a Random Reboot.
So then I flashed Paranoidandroid, put on LMT and found that it didn't work as well as I'd hoped as a replacement for Swipe Pad. Anyway, I proceeded to customize it to make it my daily driver when RR strikes 4xs in an hour.
At this point, I go running back to ICS: Novena. I dig the boot animation and that ROM has always been solid for me. And of course everything performs flawlessly: no RRs and great battery life.
But am I content? LOL
Lurking in the Blackstar Dev thread, I read about the combination of X and Flappjaxx ICS 3.0.2 kernel.
Getting to the point of this post:
That combination is AMAZING! And not in the hyperbolic sense. TRULY AMAZING!
This feels as fast as any JB ROM I've tried. Tho I'm not OC/UV, I'm only using Wheatley and battery life is PHENOMENAL!
So I'm still enjoying my "OG" Note and glad that we have a sharing community in XDA forums and gifted dev support, but if we never get any new ROMS for the lack of a source JB kernel from Samsung, I'm now on my Daily Driver.
Holla back if this combo works for you too.

I also enjoy cm9.1.0 with the FJ AOSP kernel ...

Those kernels are simply the best running code I've ever used ..
And the wheatley governor is ....well ....amazing on the note.
My thanks go out again, to our incredibly talented developers, and all of our loyal users.....for making the note run the way it was meant to be ......g

I don't know what will happen if you do that, but BSX is an ICS ROM and won't be compatible with a JB kernal. I recommend installing goo.im from the Play Store and search for Flappjaxxx in there: results will show his ROMs and kernals. Good luck!

Which to choose between Hyper vs Cleanrom?

Im new to the Galaxy S4 and i need help with choosing a stable Rom that is debloated as close to stock as possible with a few goodies. Have been reading about the Hyperdrive vs Cleanrom and Im having a tough time choosing which is best. PLEASE HELP
The best way to determine which rom that YOU will like is for YOU to test out each rom.

Correct. I've tried a few others, but I keep coming back to Hyperdrive by Sbreen94. :good:
I've wanted to try Synergy, but it seemingly doesn't want to load on my phone.
thanks for you response

Threads such as this are officially unwelcome for good reason, so don't be surprised when it gets locked.
It's a relatively simple matter to glance through the threads for whatever roms you're considering and reading about any major issues that users might be having.

Hyperdrive RLS4
New person, new thread, same story.
Not reading.
I have used both Hyperdrive RSL4 and CleanROM 1.5, and I am sticking with CleanROM. My reasoning is that Hyperdrive is a little too buggy for me, even though it has more tweaks and customization options.
Before you settle on one of those two you should definitely check out Gruesome and Sac's ROM. I haven't tried CleanROM but I was on the latest version of HyperDrive and Sacs blows it out of the water.

CleanROM...I hear Sac's is good too. It really depends what you are looking for. Hyperdrive has too much customization for my liking...I like stock look and feel with all the bloat gone and optimizations done. If thats what your looking for then CleanROM or Sac's is probably the way to go.

Life after Clean ROM

I was disappointed to read about Scott's decision to stop developing his CleanRom. I found it to be a great balance between TW and Google Edition.
I hope someone will take it over. I don't see a clear alternative to CR.

If you're looking for a fantastic running ROM with the same odex'd stock feel go with synergy and odex it yourself.

So, is hyper where everyone is heading?
Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk 2
yeah I'm still on 1.0 cause its the best battery life. I've tried 1.3 and 1.5R2 though not 1.6 or 1.6.5.
1.0 is still my DD. Smooth no lag (though i had no lag on stock) and everything worked with crazy battery life. I have all of the Zips DL so I'll always have the nandroids plus the zips. The battery life i got on 1.0 (.25% drain per hour idle and 6-7 hours on screen time) makes me not need to mess with other roms right now. Unfortunatley i was not getting the same battery life with the other versions of this rom.
Also unfortunate he closed the thread right away as we're unable to thank him for a great ROM. I wish him the best and hope whatever changed in his life is good or if not so good things improve for him. Thanks Scott

Not me, I like CleanRom, I've tried Hyperdrive and really like all it's features but I'm running CynogenMod. Why? Because it works on my phone and NO TouchWiz ROM I've tried does work properly with all my apps and I can't figure it out? Apps that ran just fine on my Galaxy S3 work perfectly on AOSP ROMs on the S4 but will not work on any TouchWiz ROM and I haven't the knowledge, time or inclination to trouble shoot TouchWiz so.... CyanogenMod.
I almost cried when I read that message. After having terrible lag issues with hyperdrive, it looks like synergy will be my next go to rom when the update comes out which I will like because it will have more features than CR did. I don't like anything crazy but some tweaks that scott doesn't offer in his stockish rom will be nice. I am going to miss him very much though. Great guy and great dev.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
Lmao, I loled when I read this... Good stuff.
I am far from a dev, hell I've barely been using an android device for a month but, devs have such a thankless job/hobby. I am not aware of one that gets money for anything they do (short of "bounties") yet, get ridiculed when something they do may not work for someone.
I appreciate everything, would love to get into doing things like this just have no idea where to start. I wouldn't mind taking a crack at making my own ROM for personal use and if good enough, maybe public. I just have zero experience, lol

Rom recommendations

I've rooted my HTC DNA months ago before switching to the note for battery life.
Never used Odin or anything before. HTC you have to s off to root and then use cwm to install roms.
I want the note 3 features and 4.3. My main goal is to remove the bloat but keep the note features. And I really want added battery life. It's nice now but I'm getting a Sony sw2 and I'll have Bluetooth on all day now. So need the battery to last without me switching to a backup battery every day.
What do people recommend me starting with on my first Samsung Rom?

I'm a big fan of CyanogenMod, but there are some volume issues on both bluetooth and wired connections that haven't been licked yet. My favorite ROM is Beanstown Jelly'Beans' as it has the stability and features of Samsung's stock software without the bloat and some extra tweaks baked in.
+1 for the JellyBeans recommendation. I was using that for several weeks up until today, when I decided to give it a break to try out PACman. I still have JB available as a restore file. If you're looking for something that resembles stock, go with an AOSP based ROM ( PAC man for example).

I'm sure someone will give those answers but usually those things are subject to however the individual sets up their ROM.
Both are TW 4.3 so all the same mods can apply. All the same xposed. I'd say since Mr Reggie Cheeks is theming the hell out of Baja ROM its definitely worth checking out. And Surge1223 is one of the Devs... he's done so much for our phones. If I go back to Touchwiz I'm definitely trying Baja.
Not to knock Hyperdrive either cuz SBreen is also the man!!
Guess all I'm getting at here is they're both awesome. And like I said I'm sure someone can give you their opinions too.

I've tried both and agree, it depends on how you setup your phone and what you like. Both are good ROMs. However, I have to make a plug here for Eclipse. Eclipse doesn't have as many "bells and whistles" as either of the other two, but in my opinion it is the most stable and smooth ROM available right now. Anyone looking for a fast, smooth, stable ROM with great battery performance should give Eclipse a try. My hats off to all three developers/teams that have provided us with these ROMs...Great Job.

Agree, all have great Roms.
Now at this moment Baja rom is at 4.4.3 KitKat and HyperDrive is not. This makes deciding easier for now. However, on jellybean I personally preferred the clean / fast HyperDrive. Once HyperDrive has kitkat , I will def. jump back to it.
Things I noticed about Baja final rom (4.4.2l;
1.) The phone doesn't seem to shut down.
2.) I already received a message saying not enough space on device to install new apps.
3.) Start up time takes longer than HyperDrive
HyperDrive (4.3)
1.) quick boot up
2.) extreemly fast
3.) Has great added tweaks/apps I use

BajaROM is on 4.3 MK2 same as Hyperdrive. 4.4.3 KitKat hasn't even been officially announced yet although there are leaks for the nexus 5

Well nc2 was leaked last week a little bit before the official nc5 update was pushed out. He's working on rebasing HD to nc5 as we speak. I'm sure bajasur/surge have similar plans.

Moderator Comment: Though useful information in here, the best rom is that with which you are most happy; thread closed.
