Go to play store and download the "ICS/JB Task Manager"
Configure the application normally, I recommend to use "Normal Display Size"
The go to: Settings>CyanogenMod Settings>Input>Long-Press Home Settings>Disable:"Show recent apps title;>enable:Use custom application>and Select: Task Manager.

Quite a few installed, and stock, apps loads itself after boot.

Google Search
Settings
Gallery
Messages
Installed:
Titanium Backup
Script Manager
I don't use widgets from any of these and I see no reason why I should they should run, in my case.
I don't want to freeze them and wonder if Startup Manager, or any other apps is of any use or doesn't it do any good. Startup Manager is like msconfig in win7. You can tick off apps you don't want to run. But, of course, Startup Manager has to run un boot.
Any views on this?

Itz the feature in touch wiz ROM..if you want task manager then download an app.and goto cyonogen mod Settings there is option input settings goto home button option click custom application there and choose the corresponding task m manager application there..

If you are refering to stock rom task manager, it's name is jobmanager.apk

How do you change the default app?

Install it from the Store or with the APK on your phone, then go in Settings > Applications > Default applications > Launcher.
- If you install the app from the play store
- head to settings and search for default apps
- select the home so you wish to use
Huawei disable the request to such home screens on hitting home like in stock Android. So if the new launcher crashed it will revert to the stock one and you must repeat this process
