On friday my eris got ran over by a car. Although the screen is all cracked up the phone works perfectly. All aspects of the screen works. I am shocked that the phone worked. Thank goodness for insurance. My replacement will be here tomorrow. Just praying that it will not come with the 1.49 boot so I can root. If all else fails then I will switch phones with my wife.
Best phone for the money!
lol! That's crazy >.<
Hell I had to drop my leaked eris about 50+times before the trackball even began sticking to the left. Even then it was still running fine, well until it wouldn't recognize a charger, then I got it replaced for a new phone that I rooted right away lol.
im rather clumsy and i use my phone ALL the time. the thing hasnt had a problem not even a tiny scratch on the screen. the thing is like hurcules or like a god. there is a reason they named it after the god of jealusy
i drop it all the time, no harm done save for a few scratches and dents...
a couple nights ago i actually dropped it from pretty high up into some... alcoholic beverage that was spilled on the floor. totally shattered... battery went one way, cover the other. the volume buttons actually came OFF the battery cover.
i picked all the parts right then and set them on a table. the next morning? put it together, works good as new!
Got the replacement today but my dumb luck got hboot 1.49 hboot on so hard for me to get root
After convincing my mom to switch from her Blackberry to Android, this thing is making me look like an a-hole.
She has a stock Photon 4G, it was on the charger and when she unplugged it, the screen was stuck on the big yellow "NOW" as in "The Now Network" when the phone first boots up. I pulled out the batter and then tried to reboot, and sure enough, that's what happens. It starts to go through the boot animation, then freezes on the word "NOW" everytime. Any ideas?
Thanks
Have you done anything to it?

couldn't you just return it and get a new one?
Nope, it's completely stock. I don't know why it rebooted in the first place. My mom said she was using it this morning and it was fine, then she left it on the charger for a bit and came back and it had rebooted and was frozen. All I did was remove the battery and then try to reboot with the same result.
If your in your first thirty days I'd swap it out. If not complain your a** off to sprint to swap it out. They will probably do it so you dont make a scene. Phones fairly new anyway.
Check the battery door some of the early photons did not have a "padding strip" on the cover and therefore caused the battery to move around slightly which caused reboots. If it does have the padding and your out of the 30 day window then call motorola from the motorola.com website be nice and more than likely they may send you a new phone since your in your first year of warranty. I called them the other day and requested a new battery door because mine creaked on the bottom and top and they got one fed ex to me within a few days no problemo. The rep even said since im in my 1st year warranty they would do that no questions asked.
I've been having the same problem for the last few weeks and bought the phone when it came out. Also freezes in contacts and on the lock screen and i think I'm past my 30 days sprint gives you.
The back cover does have a thin foam lining inside, so that doesn't seem to be an issue. Not sure how long exactly she's had the phone, but she got it from Best Buy, not Sprint, so may need to go back there and see if we can get it replaced. Along with a new $25 screen protector too I hope!
Try a hard reset. Here is a link that tells how. http://www.hard-reset.com/motorola-photon-4g-hard-reset.html
Thanks for all the help, took the phone back to Best Buy. When we showed him the phone he said, "Oh, you got the death freeze, that phone's been having some problems." It was still a few days within the 30 day period so was able to get the phone replaced with a Nexus S, plus a $200 refund. My mom just wants something reliable to make phone calls and do email, this will fit the bill.
sorry she couldnt get another MoPho but hell at least she's all android.
Now my mom has a Nexus S, my dad has the Atrix, and I got my Evo (which will hopefully be replaced with the Galaxy S II at some point).
A couple of months ago, I was working on a car and forgot the phone was in my pocket, so I laid down on my side and cracked my screen ... The LCD and touch work fine, it's just the glass. I don't really care about replacing it for the time being (plus I've heard its difficult), but I've noticed my battery has been dying more quickly than it used to. Could the cracked screen cause it somehow? Or could the battery have been damaged?
I cant see a cracked screen would cause the battery to drain quicker. Have a look at the battery...is it damaged.? Check whats running in the bk ground. Also have a look on youtube. Its not that hard to replace the screen. But it does depend on how good your are with things like this.

I've checked all that out, and it all seems fine. I keep minimal stuff running on my phone, and I haven't installed anything since. just updated some apps, but I'll keep monitoring them.
I know there are videos, but I just haven't wanted to spend the time to do it yet. Im going to switch to Verizon in November and I'll probably replace the screen then to sell it.
Thanks for the response!
No problem

How are you liking your new device so far? What device did you com from, and what are your likes and dislikes?
So far I have played with the phone, at the Verizon store. Its pretty amazing considering its pretty much an galaxy s6 edge, with a bigger screen, pretty much yeah. Pretty much sums it up for me. Yeah. Pretty much.
Coming from LG g3 and I am loving it. Call quality is great. Excellent battery. Zero lag. I don't have any complaints yet.

Agreed lol
Phones is awesome.
Have a slight bug that comes and goes where sometimes I wake the screen, I don't have a background image but I have the edge contact/app tab on a black dimlit screen. If I hit the home key once more I get my unlock screen.
If I swipe it I get the menu's and if I choose a contact or an app i am prompted to unlock then and the screen lights up fully.
Happened a few times over the weekend but once today and it's not a big deal.
Came from S6. Loving the edges and size. Lightning fast and battery life is solid.

I find that i keep misspelling words. It doesn't matter which keyboard i use. Touchscreen maybe?
Came from the m8 and im loving this phone. Ive always been an htc fanboy but i decided to try sammy and im very pleased with my choice.
Ended up exchanging ours for a Note 5. Night and day difference in stability. Much better off now. The Edge is sex but ours was riddled with bugs. It was so bad my wife wanted her HTC One M8 back....

I'm a big fan of SwiftKey. It will actually learn how you type and what words you use as you use it. It has a heat map that it uses to more reliably figure out what words you are attempting to spell. It's very good. You just use the predictive words if you aren't sure how to spell a word. As you type it gives you the three most likely solutions so you don't have to type out the words.
Just got mine today and LOVE it. I've always been a nexus & opo person due to price and their dev community, but as soon as I played with this bad boy at Verizon I knew I had to get it. I always loathed TouchWiz, but I actually like what they have done with it now.

FML what do you know, i read this thread then try to log in, what do you know mine freezes LOL and reboots, but so far it's been better than the foul tastes the galaxy s3 left with me since i had to put stock android on that, it was a must for that phone.

Same here, although I briefly had an S4 (for 2 days) when I first came to Verizon before they released the M7 for Verizon. I came from the M9 to this phone.
I've only read bits and pieces, but I take it these phones are locked down tighter than Fort Knox?
Leaving my note 4 developer edition was very hard but im handling the no SDcard and no root well. Ive never not had root so this is a new experience for me, so far the speed of charging and stability of things im really happy.

Same here, but i want some partial battery improvment, such as why make it thin and leave a big ass humping camera, fill the rest of dat space with a bigger BOOOOTERY. Also the rectangular fingerprint seems less accurate than the iphone, however looks faster. But overall, it's a flashy phone lol
So....I'm recently divorced and I get a little drunk around the apartment.
Sunday night dropped the phone in the toilet while taking a whiz and texting. I got it out in about 2 seconds and it seemed OK, worked for another hour until I fell asleep around 10 and had set alarms on my edge+ and my work iPhone to wake me up at 2:00am to kick off some work task...iPhone went off, edge+ didn't.
Screen was dead, speaker was in and out...phone fully functioned otherwise.
I didn't have any rice so I got the bright idea of putting the toaster oven on warm and putting the phone over a few towels...after 8 mins or so my screen came alive for about 20 seconds then died again.
I bought rice early the next morning and left the phone in my car in a paper bag of rice out of the sun. There was still no sign of life even after I got back home from work that evening. I gave up, called asurion who had me fill some form out before sending me an exchange because I made a claim on my previous note 3 before trading up for this one.
My phone sat until last night, my alarms going off and connecting to my wireless headset I was desperately trying to pair with y work iPhone.
In a drunken rage I plunked my already broken edge+ into a bowl of water determined to kill it forever and ensure it got no new life as a refurb. after 5 mins submerged the condition of my phone did not change, my notification light blinked along and my back lights continued to respond to the touches of my dead dark screen.
Today I come home to make lunch and my phone was laying on my desk, I hit the home button and the screen lights up with the battery dead indicator.
I plug my phone in and the fast charging screen comes to life! I power it on and have startup music, my fingerprint scanner unlocked the device, I connected to WiFi, mobile network and Bluetooth and the phone has ran strong for the remainder of the day so far.
I got my replacement today and haven't even opened it. If the edge+ runs strong through the weekend i'll send it back for a refund. I'll also buy Samsung 4eva.

Sounds like a hate/love story LOL
Honestly, if you just want the short of it, buy a Note 5.
The screen is really nice. I don't like the curved edges. I do not use any of the edge functionality at all.
The battery life is OK, and my S5 lasted eons. I never touched lollipop with the S5 and just tweaked the stock OS and removed some junk.
The speed is quite nice. It is snappier than my aging S5. But it should be.
The camera seems to be better. The S5 wasn't bad, the Note 4 wasn't bad. But this seems slightly better.
Wireless charging isn't very convenient. It was absolutely not worth losing SD card support, or a replaceable battery. I loaded my music and literally nothing else.
The flip case hasn't stopped my screen from acquiring small scratches. I haven't dropped it. I know when I do it will break. I haven't yet. I'm terrified. I miss the safety of my tempered glass screen protector.
No root means none of my stuff can be restored the way I have done for the last 5 years. Which means I lost some of my streaming apps that have closed access to new users.
This new non-root thing is difficult.
If I could root it, I'd be fine. It's a good phone. But the pen would have brought real functionality and a flat screen that was easier to protect with a case and a screen protector. Even if I didn't really care about the pen. I think it's a more practical choice over the long haul because it will easier to keep alive.
My S5 looks unused after all this time. I will be hard pressed to do the same with this one. I'm not ragging on it, but that's my honest take. If you're coming from a phone that didn't spin your whole world without fail or so much as a peep. You'll love it. But my S5 did. Big shoes to fill, and lots of sacrifices not just related to the phone itself complicating my opinion.
The whole no root thing is killing me with Verizon. The phone's display is stunning it's quick and responsive. Just hare no development.

Hi Guys!
It's quite unfortunate that my Mate 10 suddenly had its battery bulge out of nowhere. It was there sitting in my bag, not connected to a charger, and when I took it out, the back cover was already starting to come apart. It has gotten worse and I have stopped using it.
My phone is about 1 year and 4 months old; anybody had a similar issue?
I'll bring mine to the service center over the weekend.
TIA
UPDATE:
Huawei Philippines actually had a program wherein they offer battery replacements for certain models and fortunately, the Mate 10 was one of them.
I got mine serviced for roughly $20 and I got a new battery (including labor). Funny thing was, the first battery they replaced mine with didn't work (had a full chargebut phone kept turning off). 2nd one was the charm. I'm on my 2nd week and it's still going great *knock on wood
It seems Huawei is aware of the battery issue and so they offered replacements for cheap (without the program, new original batteries costs like $30.
Me too 2 weeks ago when i removed the silicon case i found out that my batteri was expanding. Thanks god for 2 year warranty.
Sent the phone to Huawei service partner in Sweden called Mobylife. They fixed it on warranty in no time. Really good service. According to service report they changed batteri, display and made updates to firmwire. When i got it in return i found out they replaced the backside aswell. Almost a new phone, but i kept my imei.

It's great that you guys have a 2 year warranty, but at $20 for battery and labor, I couldn't complain much.
Maybe Huawei is aware that they have battery issues which was the reason they had this program available here in the Philippines.
Wow, they replaced your screen as well? Initially, I had a screen discoloration issue, kind of like something is pressing on the back side (back then, the battery bulge issue wasn't that obvious, so I didn't know.) When I had my batteries changed, the screen issue was gone as well (apparrently, the battery was pushing back on the screen).
By the way, which firmware are you on now that they have updated it?
Huawei Mate 10 battery bulge
I observed the back of the mate 10 popped off at the bottom. I ordered a battery from Amazon and replaced the battery myself. Examining the old battery I found that the battery itself was not deformed, but the plastic wrap was inflated. The battery was still working well.

Were you able to take photos? Mine did the exact same thing
Same thing happened to me yesterday. Out of nowhere the backcover came off at the side of the SIM tray. It's about 20 months old. Sending it in on warranty very soon.
Bad thing to happen but what could be the cause of it?
Does it have anything to do with Supercharge?
My phone is still in good condition and under warranty but if this is problem can be avoided it's better. Any suggestions for the reason behind battery expansion?
Sent from my ALP-L29 using Tapatalk
Every battery will expand sooner or later, therefore they have expiration date and number of cycles. After they reach that, they reach predicted end of lifetime and we have to exchange them. Of course, we can still use them but sometimes on our risk.
Hi everyone
I’m new in this page but I offen search here if I interested any phone but now I have a problem and it’s looks like nobody from huawei wanna answer my question so if anybody up for a challenge and maybe can help me to find out what’s wrong with my phone it would be great
First challenge how can I upload pictures of my phone here?
Thanks
Same happened to mine. A few months ago it started with bright spots on my display and a few days my backcover came off. I already ordered a Mate 20 X on ebay, but I guess the next few days I will have to use my old Mate 10 and hope it does not blow up. Has anybody got a Mate 10 battery burning so far?
And no this is not normal battery wear. The capacity is still fine. It just seems to be poor quality.

I think this is the problem with my P20.
My phone has the bulge too. It's pushing the back cover open a little. AccuBattery still reads 94% capacity. I'm worried it could burst so I'm going to attempt to replace it.
I hope im not reviving an old post.
My mate 10 also had the same issue, the battery itself wasn't expanded, but the casing around it was ( I assume it was a build up in gas)
I am replacing my phone in a week so what I've done so far is make a tiny hole in the casing to let out the built up gas and now its back to normal.
this is just a temporary fix but should get me through the week, not sure if it was a wise thing to tinker like that with it.
