Does anyone know of an application which can be used to change the loaded profile for an app the same as Titanium does. For example If im using a particular app at home and need it set differently elsewhere I can change the functionality on the fly like possible in Titanium

I have yet to find a good way to do this, other than using a third-party launcher so that it can be restored using "restore missing apps and data" in TiBu.
Also some third-party launchers have their own backup and restore functions.
There's no clean way to do this for built-in launchers, especially since many ROMs change the launcher to modded variants.
As entropy said. Find a launcher with save & restore option. Otherwise Titanium backup.
I would be interested too if you find something to solve this without an app.
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
even with a 3rd party launcher, i dont think widgets can be restored.
This is correct.I kmow Launcher pro will save the placement of the widget but it will show as "problem loading widget" so essentially its useless in that aspect.
If you use the widgets that are specific for the launcher you are using, the restore will work. However, if you use a widget from another application, the launcher does not know where to find the app. I am not sure why this happens, it may be because a unique ID is assigned an app upon install, and perhaps that ID is used when setting a widget. When you re-install an app (or all of them in the case of a TiBu restore) the apps get new IDs assigned to them... That is just a guess.
Regardless, every launcher has this issue with app widgets. Somehow they get around it with their own proprietary widgets.
Is there any way to refresh manually our choose news topics and settings with this app on the prime. It seems pretty useless to me as i can't find a way to get into the menu.
I know if you want to change the setting about the weather on the widget. Hold on the weather widget and a new screen will pop up and you can refresh, set it to manual, and other options.
It is busted for sure.
The OP is talking about the App itself, NOT the widget. I have this app and use it everyday on my phone. On the tablet, it has no settings menu (weather, news, refresh) so you cannot add or remove news headings. I have 3-4 custom news headings.. but with no settings menu, it is essentially worthless as is.. bummer as I have always liked the simplicity of this app and we just got it for ICS - it was not in HC - and it is broken.
I was able to do this with a backup from my Nexus S 4G using titanum backup. (requires the prime to be rooted) I just copied the tar.gz and the preferences files for the news and weather app (called genie in titanium) from the titanium folder on my Nexus to the Titanum folder on my Prime. Then in the titanium app on the Prime I went Menu>More>Reload application. Then titanium was able to see my backup and when I restored it gave the option to restore data only. The app is the same version as the one on my phone and I didn't want to replace the actual .apk anyway because I have read deleting system apps messes up OTA updates. Once the data restore was complete the app had all the same settings and news topics as my phone.
Hi All,
Like others, I'm experiencing a problem with SwiftKey - the stock keyboard always shows up as the default after every boot, even though SwiftKey is enabled in settings. I read somewhere that a workaround is to freeze the stock keyboard using Titanium, and convert the SwiftKey app to a systems app. So my question is, how do I do that?
(One X, ARHD 31.3)
I know I can long-click on the correct entry in Titanium's App list to freeze an app, but specifically, what app name do I need to look for (is it Keyboard_english.apk?)
And how do I convert SwiftKey to a system app? I'm not even sure what this means. Do I just have to ensure it's located on internal storage (not SD card)?
Some help is obviously needed! Thanks for yours in advance.
You can try disabling the stock keyboard in Settings>Apps. You can also try using ROM Toolbox to search for app (in my experience it's easier). And converting an app to a system app simply means moving the app from data>app to system>app.
So I have to switch phones I have smart switch to back up all other data but noticed it does not back up my apps and their preferences etc. So I am stuck having to rebuild my podcast library and re-enter notifications for all my medications... and yes... rebuild my clan village .
So without Root anyone have any suggestions on the best app to do this?
Also not extremely important but it'd be nice if it transfered over the app icon layout I had on the home screens
Thanks!
You can normally backup your user data with adb. Check the XDA forums to find tutorials.
You can also use Helium which works without root AFAIR.
Hello, I have run into a problem with titanium backup. It seems to stop the multi profile setting ok apps from working every now and then. E.g I have Facebook and messenger using multi profile (users for me and my partner) and sometimes when I switch the profile using the multi user button it will only switch one of the apps or neither. I'm really hoping this problem is fixable thanks.
