I am facing a problem with my touch, a track right in the middle of the screen is not working, however when I connect my atrix to PC in this fault track back to work. I don't find a other person with the same problem. Would help the people of the forum to diagnose my problem, because I don't want to unlock the bootloader unless it is the only solution. I've wiped the cache, and the next attempt will be PDSfix, but do not want to unlock the bootloader. According to the description of the problem is software or hardware?
Thanks

Yes, I tryed. In the middle of the screen the touch detection jump a track (marking as if I had passed my finger in a straight line in this fault track) and continues normally in the other side of the screen

I have the same issue as you, but my issue takes up the top half of the screen.
You have 5 options at this point.
1. Deal with it. most likely not what you want to do unless you have to
2. Unlock and pds fix. There's no harm in unlocking unless you totally don't read the instructions and do as it says.
3. Try the home made fix. Its just a matter of finding the right spot to place the piece of cardboard.
4. Replace digitizer
5. Replace device with new Atrix 4G or other device

The problem is that randomly as i was using the tablet at some point there was a horizontal line down the centre of my screen I will post a screen shot bellow.
From what I read on forums others got black lines all around their screen when updating from honeycomb to icecream sandwich. my tablet came stock with ics, purchased it from pcworld.co.uk(if that makes a difference) I read things about making changes to developers settings with transitions but none of that worked please any1 know anything about this pleas help:/
tablet is only 6 days old, and the line only apears when the screen is on:/
ok i am reposting dont know if i am allowed to do this but as I was taking a screenshot I realized that the line will not appear on the screen shot:S is this a sign of hardware failure?:S :/ ill try upload a pic from my mobile phone

I'd say do a factory reset....you'll lose all data (unless you back it up elsewhere) and see if it appears on a "pure" Prime. If it's not there, then start adding your apps one at a time to see where it appears.
If it shows on the bare prime, then , it might be in the installed software.
You could then try downloading the .21 update and update the Prime again...Maybe a new install will cure it.
If, after all that, it's still there, then I'd return it to the dealer.
Good luck,
Bob

I did run a factory reset didnt have much on this so i didnt mind. Can you further explain that .21 update, i dnt even know what that is and where i can get it from.. more info the line appears from the boot logo(dunno if that helps)
The .21 refers to the latest system update. You can update your Prime by going into Settings, About Tablet, System Update and checking for and installing the update. It appears to me that your screen maybe bad or that there is a bad connection. You might consider returning it if the update or the other suggestion of a system reset don't work.
Good luck.

If the Prime says you got the latest update, then it's possible that it was corrupted. The final test would be to download it from the support site to an SD card and try updating that way. There are a couple of threads that talk about updating manually....Just make sure you choose the right update version for the country that you are in...and probably don't need to say it, make sure your battery is fully charged before you start.....and since you're a noobe, have a good stiff drink before you start.....that seems to help noobies
Good luck

Thanx but can any1 give me a link or whatever with the download and everything i need 2 know? How do i find which county specific update the device came with so that i can apply the same 1? Dnt want to void the warranty.
Thanx so much for your time interest and patience i really apreciate it
If the line is appearing in boot is most likely hardware issue.
Try turning off the prime, press volume down and while still pressing it turn it on, it should get you into basic stock recovery. You have a few secs to check if the line is still there.
If you see the line you should return it

The recovery screen uses the most basic of the basic drivers to run, if you are seeing it there it's hardware.
The fact that you are not seeing it when its off its probably because the issue is a Flex connecting the motherboard to the screen. Depending on what part is damaged you might see it or not when it is off.
.21 patch is just the latest Firmware. Go to settings -> About your tablet -> System upgrade check or something along those lines ^^

Since you seem to not be inclined to expend any effort to solve YOUR problem, here is the link that will tell you how to manually install the upgrade.

I repair Farming GPS computers for a living, (For example Raven Viper Pro)what your seeing is a panel fault, either with the LCD or the driver chips attached to it. this can be seen normally on a white/blue screen, sometimes it wont show with certain colors, I've never seen it show when a screen is off though.
It comes down to you should get it replaced. I've seen this on units that are brand new.

My phone began having issues with touch behavior. It has over time gotten worse to the point where my phone seems to have a mind of its own. I took it in to a sprint repair center because I have read that the digitizer is a common failure with the Evo 3D. Anyway the repair guy told me that the issue was because I am rooted, that root corrupts files necessary for correct touch input. I have never herd this before and wanted to ask if anyone can either confirm or deny this. I would like to specifically read some developers perspective on this.

Completely untrue. Rooting voids warranty and so that's why he came up with that excuse. Just unroot (this guide is good), and then take it to the sprint store again and don't say anything about root. they should give either a replacement or replace the digitizer. Then you can just root the new phone or root again.
Well the surprising thing is he gave the phone back to me and said he had ordered a replacement phone and that they'd call me when it arrived. This is why I asked, because I wanted to know whether to root my new phone when it came in.
He gave the phone back to you and ordered you a new one at no cost to you because that's just a trick reps play..
Root had no effect on screen wear and tear or digitizer failure..

This just goes to show that you should read and research before modifying your device. No root has no effect on hardware.

Unfortunately that's what happens when people flash hacked/leaked firmware. Rooting itself doesn't cause hardware problems, but flashing things like this does. Hopefully someone will come up with a fix to fully reverse it. If not, hopefully you have insurance.

They could bill you for service w/out warranty but only if you tell them to.
Sometimes they say things like that because they don't want to go through the hassle of ordering a new phone for you, especially since they don't earn any commission for that kind of help.
Also, technically if you are rooted your warranty IS voided, even though a lot of the time hardware problems aren't related to root at all. I guess what I'm trying to say is they technically aren't aloud to replace a non-warrantied item so they make up a reason why they can't in order to keep the customer at least somewhat understanding.

In relation to the thread, rooting doesn't do anything. So yeah, you got got.
Yea, I had the same problem and the store said the same thing. Like others said, it's untrue. The stores will try to avoid the issue but phones should be replaced.

Hello guys,
I know that it is probably the best place to share my issue. I have an HTC Leo (HD2) with dorimanx ROM. I have been using it for 6 months already (with Android). Yesterday, while my phone was charging, I have noticed some suspicious activity, my phone was bugging and freezing, didn't want to run applications, was very slow. Then it just froze up and I've done a battery pull. I thought there is something wrong with my phone. But, I have been mistaken. After an hour, my phone was still charging & was lying on the table next week while I was on computer. It just unlocked itself, then went to youtube, launched some video, went to related, comments, then launched another video. My phone was using mobile 3g network. then it went & turned on wifi, there was no available wifi spots. after that it went to cpu tuner, changing the min and max frequencies at the same time, I mean holding both scrolls of min and max freq and lowing them. For example, I can hold both min and max scrolls changing them, only one by one. After that it tried to add a new google account. Then I have just turned off my device again with battery pull. So, as for now I am not using any internet and my device is not getting messed up, at least, I have not noticed. I have erased all history and cookies in the browser. I have a 2 step verification on google, which is linked to this phone. I don't know what's happening. PLEASE HELP ME GUYS, I have though ab factory reset. How can I make it without reinstalling the dorimanx ROM itself. Waiting for your replies and advices, as I AM REALLY FREAKED UP! Thank you ALL!:silly::silly::silly::silly:

I am actually using CyanogenMod 7, dorimanx ROM. I have reflashed my device a couple of times, but never done factory reset. What will happen after factory reset? Will I keep my ROM configuration, will all my apps be erased? Cauze when it comes to reflashing - it is really difficult, I again to read all the posts, create SWAP and many many things, that I don't want to do again. This ROM was working perfectly till that sh*t happened yesterday.

You can set up an unlock password (you will type when you unlock the phone)
or if you use icecream sandwich, Use face unlock.
Of course, they will stay by my side, but at that time they were not there to take their phone & catch the action going on on my phone. I have now turned my mobile network on & I am prepared, wish me good luck catching the action so I can show this to all of you.

You have a ghost in your house!
But nah, Did u have bluetooth on?
I'd be willing to bet its the charger. I've heard of this happening before and it was a faulty USB cord/port. Try a different cord if you can and see if the problem persists. I know it sounds crazy but I've heard the exact same issue before and that was the problem. There is no such "hack" sophisticated enough to control your phone like that.

PLEASE HELP!!!!! First please note that I am an idiot that DID NOT have my phone backed up at all. What a mistake that is, here is what happened. The other day by phone froze up on me. I tried to reboot it and it kept looping through my start up screens but wouldn't boot all the way. So I tried to do the recovery option and part way through that the screen gave me a symbol of a red triangle and would go no further. Then I tried the option to wipe and factory reset, but it can't complete that function either and tells me that it can't load or mount sd card. I'm computer knowledgable with some programming skills, is there anything that I can do? I should have known better to have backed up my darned phone, but I didn't. Please help if you can!!!

The digitizer is the screen that is over the LCD screen. It is the part that registers the touches. So basically, if you were to get another Thounderbolt, you would take your digitizer off and replace this one with yours. This making this one a fully working device. As far as price is concerned. I will would be asking for $60 and you cover the shipping. Whatever that may be. Where are you located?
No one suggested RUU?
I suggest RUU.
If you haven't tried it yet, plug in your phone to a PC, run the RUU in Windows. Find said RUU, well Mecha Centre lol some of you probably saw that coming.

Hey everyone, I have been going through these forums as well as giving google a full shakedown of what it has to offer and it seems I can only find problems that are "partially" similar to mine. Anyway here is the nitty gritty;
I was running the Super Nexus I777 rom for my AT&T SGS2 (the SGH-I777) when this morning my power button quit working. I could not lock or unlock the screen without either pulling the battery and putting it back in and waiting for it to boot back up, or plugging it into a charger. I found a couple apps on the market that allowed me to circumvent the process by unlocking the phone with the volume keys. After work when I got home I contacted AT&T to check on my warranty (because at this point I had decided I was going to flash back to stock and send in for a new/refurbished but working phone). Warranty was still good so after the call was ended I hopped on the forums here and followed the procedure on how to prepare your phone for returning to the store for warranty. Here is where the problems really began. I downloaded the correct stock files and flashed the phone back to stock with no issues. I boot up the phone and start getting "google services has stopped unexpectedly" and other errors which will not allow me to get past the "touch the android to begin" start up screen. I have tried the tap the four corners method but it is not working for me. I have tried using "adb" and "fastboot" to get into recovery and that has not worked.
The problem lies in the fact that my power button no longer works. So I have spent hours scouring the internet and these forums in the hopes of finding some other way to get into the stock recovery mode.
From what I have read, the processes that are stopping and force closing which are keeping me from moving past the startup screen, are because I need to wipe my Dalvik and regular Cache. I would be very happy to do that and have at least a semi working phone again for the week or so I am going to have to wait before my replacement comes in.
Sorry for the long post (especially considering this is my first post here on XDA), but I don't know where else to turn. I hope I have provided enough information about what I have already tried so that the whole process of elimination can be made shorter for myself and anyone else who feels like helping me out. Thanks for taking the time to read this post and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try using adb to reboot into recovery, but then you won't be able to select anything because you won't have touch CWM.

That's what I did when I got my phone replaced under warranty due to the broken power button.

U can do that sure. But I dont think that wipes the data or cache, which is really what he needs to do to stop his problems. Then again I don't remember if upgrading in that manner wipes anything or not. I'm pretty sure not. But it's been a few months since I've messed with it.

Yea, it's been a few months for me as well, but I believe it does a complete reset to factory settings (wipe included). It should download the latest Samsung ROM (ICS) automatically as well. I think the process also kicks you into download mode automatically and starts installing the firmware...a little fuzzy on that part.
THANKS
I cannot begin to thank you all enough! Going through Keis and putting in my model and serial info did the trick! So with all the sincerity I can muster, thank you all for being so helpful and quick in your responses. Now I can send it back when I get my replacement and have the piece of mind that the only thing wrong with the phone now is that the power button is broke.

Paranoid Android in the ported section is a fantastic rom and allows to wake the screen by just swiping it. So unlocking amounts to two swipes left to right.
Rebooting into recovery isn't difficult either. You can add a recovery reboot button to the drop down notification drawer.

Many roms can do that/all roms really. Siyah kernel enables swipe2wake
