Trying to get my i777 running again and having boot issues - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I just purchased a new battery and wall battery charger. now I thought initially it was an issue with my battery being dead, but have two fully charged and still having issues. Issue I am having it when I try to boot it it will get to the s2 splash screen then it just repeats it. And yes I even tried odin to no avail. Same issue still persists. any idea to a solution? It appears I can only access download mode, no recovery, or normal booting.
EDIT: Fixed that issue...now trying to remember how to flash the CWR on it haha

You don't install CWR on our phone, it's included in the custom kernels.
You need figure out which firmware version you're running, such as Gingerbread, Jellybean etc. Then flash a compatible kennel and you'll have the recovery you want.

[Q] Phone not charging after installing kernel and custom rom

Hi guys, I have a gigantic problem, which I hope you can help me with.
I installed the siyah kernel yesterday and ontop the cyanogenmod 9. Phone did not charge over night. To be more precise, my phone ist not charging at all.
Any idea what I can do? Any suggestion that gets my phone running again is welcome. Otherwise I have to run out and purchase a new battery and give it another shot.
Thanks!!!!
pefix
1) CM9 is very much an "experimental"/alpha build. All manners of problems/bugs/issues are to be expected.
2) To the very best of my knowledge Siyah does not work with CM9 because there are no ICS kernel sources available at this time.
Flash stock firmware to get your phone back to square one, then root your phone with a CFRoot kernel, then you can install Siyah. From there, if you're still keen, choose another rom.
CM9 is not for n00bs.
I had used the cyanogen stuff multiple times before... I am not even certain if it is the ROM that is causing the problem.
As I said. The phone just won't charge for some reason... I did follow your suggestion and flashed a stock firmware again and finished. Since about 5 minutes I can't even get into the download mode because the battery is too low.
I don't get it.
Its almost as if the battery is busted.
Oh well... I guess thats the price for stupidity.
Same problem here. I assumed after flashing cm9 all old kernel stuff would be replaced. However if phone is dead the phone will not charge. So I've switched batteries and its not the battery it is the old kernel. Perhaps it messes with the boot loader. Im go
ing to Odin back to stock and hope that will fix it.

[Q]Fascinate Paperweight?!?

Ok...I'm at a point where I had no other choice but to get another replacement. I looked just about everywhere my patience would take me, and decided to give up. I hope someone could/would have a solution for me or others like me.
I had EH03 deoxed rom and decided I wanted ICS build5. So I installed CM7, I whiped cache, DLVK, and system data. Then flashed ICSb5 and GAPPS, Rebooted and stuck on ICS splash screen.
At this point USB ports wouldn't recognize fascinate. Downloaded all Fascinate drivers from Samsung, drivers for Nexus S, ADB, Android SK. You name it I got it. Nothing worked for USB detection. I even followed YT videos on turning Vista/PC off and unplug. Nothing.
After messing with data cords,(numerous ones, trying another PC), PC ports, I happened to pull plug and battery out of Fascinate at the same time, not sure what version of CWM, it was blue, came on. Luckily I had two Nandroid backups on SD.
I flashed Nandroid back to CM7 successfully. Rebooted fine and hooked to USB but still not recognized. At this point I was able to get into recovery using ROM. So, I did something stupid...lol...I tried to flash earliest Nandroid which was performed when on EH03 deoxed. Once I did this, I wiped all needed data and rebooted. Now Fascinate shows Samsung logo. It doesnt reboot, just that the logo stays until I pull battery. Now if I have battery in wth phone off and plug in, the charging battery comes on but doesn't show battery level. Doesn't go away till I pull battery.
The funny thing is that I can get into Download mode but USB is still unrecognized/malfunction on PC/Vista. I only wish that I was able to link phone and PC just to use Odin with PIT file and stock EDO5 or EH03.
Any advice?

In the op of ics and also droidstyles guide you have to flash build 1 before you can flash build 5
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I've never flashed version 1 before flashing.build 5. In fact I've had the least amount of problems going back to stock (ED05) then flashing ICS.
I bootlooped when i went from stock EH03 to Build 5 so i did 3 first then 5.
But this doesn't help our poster here.
OP:
you get into DL mode but odin wont see your phone?
What i suggest is to try: Move the usb cable to a different port. see if your pc can see it then. Second thing try a totally different computer. Chances are your PC is trying to use borked up drivers.
Once you get odin going flash a stock image [i recommend eh03] then cwm then build 3 and now the new build 6. good luck!
if you need any links or a more detailed guide I STRONGLY suggest Droidstyles guild, it is by far the best and most up to date for the fassy!

Consider yourself lucky....going from stock to build 6 causes me problems and many others. Going from stock, to build 1, then build 6 works flawless.

Bricked Vibrant

I got myself a bricked Vibrant from someone and trying to fix it.
I'm guessing the dude tried to flash captivate stuff on it, because the boot image is AT&T.
Anyway, I was able to odin back to stock 2.1, which seemed to make the power button work again because it would start up and show the AT&T logo but that's it.
Then I tried odin'ing a vibrant bootloader, which got me to replace the AT&T logo with a green andy logo, but same thing, stuck.
So I tried reflashing 2.1 with odin again. Now the boot logo is back to the stock i9000 > Vibrant, but then it stops here. I can't seem to be able to enter the 2e(or 3e?) stock recovery.
Any idea on what else I can try flashing to it?
Update: I tried flashing the froyo bootloader, which did get me to the stock recovery, but again - i can't seem to get this phone past this stage, doesn't boot into the OS.

So what is your desired ROM after flash?
I suggest that you should flash it to LidDroid with Vibrant bootloader. From that, you can upload the phone to 2.3, 3.0 or ICS 4.0 ROM.
On mobile now so I cannot giive you the download links for needed files. If you need them, just post a reply in the thread.
Thanks, I tried LidDroid
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058802
And flashed Froyo and GB bootloaders, nothing is working. It just shows boot screen then still shuts down.
Update: Well I'm not sure what the issue is, I was able to get it to boot to the lock screen once, but then it shut down right after. Now I can only get it back to boot image before shutting down.
The thing I noticed is that the phone gets hot really fast, so maybe it's drawing too much power somewhere and its shutting down as a protection. Also the stock batteries don't seem to work for it, just this particular battery that it came with, which the contacts on the battery are flush with the edge of the battery instead of indented like the stock ones.
What you should do is take out your sim card and external sd card if you have one, use odin to flash back to stock rom (either 2.1 or 2.2), wait for it to load up as it might take a few minutes after you see the Vibrant logo (just be patient). If you get this far and you see the operating system, flash clockwork recovery on it.
If you can get this far, let us know then we'll talk about custom roms. The main purpose now is to get it running stock, we can worry about the custom stuff later.

Atrix Automatically Re-Booting

Alright, here's the deal. I had some problems with my Atrix so I ended up having to re-flash RomRacer's Recovery. Then I tried re-flashing Neutrino ROM, when it finally booted into it a windows entitled "Android System" popped up and then a message boxed popped up saying "Shutting Down". It does this for EVERY single rom I flash. I tried Neutrino 2.7 and 2.6, CM7 Ba2Tf, Jokersax's CM9, and Alien ROM. All do exactly the same thing. Can anyone help me?
EDIT: I just tried flashing MIUI and CM9 via Kitchen Sink ROM and both did the same thing. Boots to lock screen then vibrates and shuts down.
EDIT 2: If it helps, this isn't my first time flashing a ROM, I've flash all of these multiple times, so I don't really know what the issue is.
EDIT 3: I just did 3 different restores including one to the original ROM, it did the exact same thing. I also tried 2 different batteries, both of which are fully charged.
**BUMP**
Try a full wipe from fastboot, then try to flash a fruitcake.
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase system
etc.
There are a couple of scripts in forums which work nicely if you're feeling lazy. Best thing to try with any problem like this is just start over from the beginning properly.

I already tried multiple fastboot wipes, but I'm downloading this "Fruitcake" and I'll FB wipe then flash that and see if it works.
Alright. Did a full fastboot wipe. Flashed the 2.3.4 Fruitcake. Won't even boot into the lockscreen, just boot loops the boot animation.
May have to flash stock kernel also. Can do from fastboot.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
I don't mean to sound like a noob, but I searched and I can't seem to find the stock kernel. I found a couple links, but they were all the same multiupload link and did not work. Do you have a link?
Sorry, I don't have that kernel or a link to it.
I can't see what the problem would be if you are wiping fully via fastboot and flashing a ROM, whichever one you choose. If you flash CM7.2 for example on a clean phone, there shouldn't be a problem unless something else is going on, like hardware issues.
What problems did you originally have that resulted in you re-flashing recovery? Maybe that's where we should start in figuring this out.
I was running Alien ROM perfectly fine. For whatever reason I decided I wanted to flash Neutrino ROM V2.7 and I didn't realize how low my battery was when I flashed it. I think the battery may have died either during or just after flash. So i bought a new battery and a wall charger so I could charge the battery outside of the phone. When I put the new battery in, it would not boot into recovery, so I re-flashed recovery and that's where I'm at now.
Stock 2.3.6 OS, webtop, and kernel are here > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24472332&postcount=1
This version is rooted also.
Thank you very much for your help. I will flash everything back to complete stock, and hopefully that solves this. Thank you again!
Sounds like your system believes battery is low, you can try wiping data and installing CM, then power off your phone, plug it to wall charger and leave it charging for some time. If it still doesn't work, you can try pulling the battery while charging (will show a "?" battery icon) and then put it back in.
I just did a full fastboot wipe, then flash all 3 of the stock things, OS, kernel, and Webtop. It won't boot past red flashing Motorola Logo. I think I'll try what the above user says.
I'm having some issues getting the phone to "charge" If I put the battery in and then plug it into a wall charger, it turns on and starts the boot loop. If I plug it in with no battery, the battery with a "?" shows up, but then when I put in a battery nothing happens.

BUMP 2. Any last ditch effort?

Phone won't boot at all

Hi, I haven't posted on here lately. but I am having mucho trouble with my Note 2.
I flashed it back to stock today to fix the GPS issue with custom ROMS, but now it won't boot. It won't boot to the system, recovery, or download mode. Nothing lights up when I plug it into the charger, I've removed the battery a few times, tried different batteries (stock on and my Zerolemon), different chargers and my computer, all nothing.
It booted to the system once after I flashed it, and it worked then, I got a text, but once I restarted it, it just didn't boot back up. I used Mobile Odin Pro to flash the stock system.
I'm at a loss as to where to go from here. I really don't want to have to buy a new phone, I've only had this one since Feb.
Thanks for any help!
