What happened to these options that used to be in the Note 2 but are now missing in the Note 3?
I really appreciated the option that allowed the screen to stay awake while the phone was plugged in.
Is there any way to achieve this on the Note 3?

Go to Settings/General/About Device, scroll down a tad and tap on "Build Number" a few times (I can't remember the exact number, I think it's 7. It gives you a toast notification when you are close)
Neat trick, thanks a lot.
WOW!

Yes...Thanks alot for this, I've been wondering how since I got this beast.
Can anyone help me figure out why my screen is still shutting off after a minute even with "stay awake" selected?

The developer threads seem to indicate that there is a danger running JB of 'bricking" the TP if the battery is allowed to discharge all the way. It is suggested that an app like "Battery Check" should be used to turn off the TP when the battery reaches a set percentage charge.
My problem is that I'm not sure "Battery Check" is working on my TP. The only "setting" I see when I run it is a slide bar for setting the percent of charge. But when I set the bar, and tap "Launch Service", the app exits. I'm assuming that it is now set to turn off when it reaches what I set. The problem is that my assumption could be wrong and being wrong could "brick" my TP. A chance I'm NOT willing to take.
Can anyone verify that "Battery Check" works and that I've set it up properly? Does it actually turn off the TP, or just "sound an alarm" that I'm likey to miss if I'm asleep?

Turning off the TP isn't listed as an "Action" to take when the "trigger" (battery below) is reached.

Do you have a version # for your Automateit app. My screen looks like that but there is no "Shutdown" option. I solved the problem by installing "Power Off" and having Automateit call that app as the "Action". That worked.
Thanks

This is weird. There was no shutdown option when I created the first "rule". But, now, if I go back to add another rule, the Shutdown action IS available. And my version is the same as yours.

Go figure, I am glad you finally got it sorted and trust the screen shots helped. You now shouldn't have to worry about a bricked tablet but I would still shutdown if you are not going to use it or are going out etc .
i had that problem too. something to do with some actions requiring root like shutdown, but i don't remember but i enabled it somehow. check settings and look for enabling root options maybe.
When I installed AutomateIt on my TB, I was asked to confirm root access for the app.
So I have searched and searched... and this seems to be a very random "issue". Some people have it.. some do not.
Every time I get a new notification, the screen wakes up/comes up. Stays on for about 5 seconds... then goes back off. I have found only one thread on the issue here, in the T-Mobile section. But it did not really go any farther:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291453
I do not want this. I have an LED for this. How do I turn this off... or what do I need to do to make this not happen anymore? This is the only thing I do not like about the phone (and my friend has an S4 on Sprint and this doesnt happen to him). It is as if the phone things the S-Cover is on and is displaying the message for me through the "window".
Go into your messaging app and hit the menu button, then go into settings. There should be an option called "Wake Screen" or something along those lines. Uncheck it and you should be set. It may come pre-checked for T-Mobile and Verizon devices but not others, just a thought.

Sadly I have no option like that.
If you are rooted, you can use Xposed to show that option: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293956 (under applications, "Show screen on toggle"), then you can go to the messaging app and turn it off.
When a new text message message comes in, it shows up on the lockscreen. There's a way to touch something on the lockscreen to take you straight to that message. I did it a few times but i can't figure out what i did. I know you can swipe up from the messaging icon at the bottom, but that just takes you to the messaging app, not the one that's being shown...
Its so frustrating... I know there's a way... A tap in the right spot, a swipe in the right spot... i just can figure it out..
I think i may have figured it out...
I think it may be a double tap.
Double tap doesnt work for me...
What does work, is a single tap on the mesage notification on the lock screen.....
That opens up a huge lined box underneath. .....
Swipe in that box, it takes you right to that message. ....even if you have other message threads.
Good luck

I get a huge white box, but otherwise the same.
After you tap the notification box ,then you swipe inside the huge box. .
Straight to the message.
Good luck

not much of a struggle at all....
from the lockscreen... you tap on the message notif once..
then swipe in the big huge box....
2 finger moves.... 1 tap...1 swipe....
no big deal...... simple.....
1 tap....1 swipe.... youre there!
good luck.....

Yesterday for the first time I got a strange new lock screen I don't remember installing.... When my phone (Nexus 6) is plugged in, and I wake it up, at first I get my regular stock lock screen. But, when I unlock it, this new strange lock screen appears in its place (the first image - which says at the top "0 Words typed today" and "1% beat global users.") When I tap the three-dot menu in the top right, I get the second screen (says "Boost Charge" and gives me option to uncheck.)
Does anyone recognize this? I guess it's possible it's malware of some kind but I am generally pretty careful. It seems like typing stats, but I only have google keyboard, swiftkey and touchpal installed, and none of those seem to be causing this as far as I can tell.
I would like to avoid a factory reset if I can help it, but I don't like the idea of something I didn't choose being on my phone..... Any help as to how this got here?
Same thing happened to me.
Found out it's SwiftKey. Wasn't even using it, so I just uninstalled it.

I've got the exact same thing. Annoying as hell. Don't have SwiftKey installed. Mine I believe is coming from TouchPal.
I got this to stop without uninstalling TouchPal. In TouchPal settings, go into General Settings and disable Daily Summary, which causes another annoying pop-up screen once a day. Then click on Power Boost and disable that. Exit, exit, exit.
I think the Power Boost, um, feature? is causing those random pop-ups.
Hope this helps somebody else. The keyboard itself is pretty good, so I'm sure some people won't want to uninstall it.

Yep, it's TouchPal. I found the Boost Charge one, but hadn't noticed the separate Daily Summary setting-thanks for the heads up.
