[Q] release the kernel source code mtk6577

I think we all need to generate pressure to release the code ¿what you think?
You can find different branches of Mediatek kernels and utilites on Github. Just search for 'Mediatek' or click on this link:
https://github.com/search?q=mediatek+mtk6577&type=Repositories&ref=searchresults. I would doubt if any of it is official
but maybe you could cook your own
Best of luck.
How about this LG G pro lite D686 kernel source ?
The below link has Kitkat (4.4.2) kernel source of LG G pro lite D686 ( MTK6577 ). Check if it helps in porting to other devices.:good:

[Q]Kernel Port Query

Well i was just going throught the canvas2(A110) development thread and happen to find that there are now 2 kernels available for its chipset. So i was wondering if any of the devs here might ask the original developer of those kernels to help them in porting it for our device.
It would be really great if we can build it from groud up.
And also sony has released most of the sources for there device XPERIA C which has the same chipset and almost same specs as Canvas HD.
Hope to get some prositive replies.
Fingers Crossed.
Regards,
Jay..!!
Links to those Canvas2 kernals :

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2443987 -[4.1.x-4.2.x] andiroxu's Kernel
For Now,
The answer is no.
The reasons are listed below.
No phone can accept kernels from other phones unless it is a clone.
Micromax Canvas HD and Xperia C have common CPU's but aren't Clones.
Micromax Canvas HD cannot use Canvas A110 kernel because they have different CPU's.
Kernels cannot be ported unless the complete source for both the kernels is available.
We will wait for Xiaomi sources and see if they are of use.
We will soon have ROMS based on Android 4.3 as Micromax is releasing an OTA Update for Micromax Canvas HD.

what kind of files are you talking bro? afaik for compiling a rom, you need to have the device vendor tree and the source repo. if you have that, can you give me the link to the git? thanks

I don't have sources. And I don't think micromax releases any. My brother own Micromax Canvas HD. He was asking me for 4.3 ROM for many days. So, I asked him to create thread from my account. May be he was meaning to stock ROM files.
Sorry for inconvenience.

[Q] Cyanogenmod for MTK Devices

Hello respected developers,
We all now know that cyanogenmod has successfully been able to develop for Mediatek Devices by building official CyanogenMod ROM for Android One (MT6582) device. Now I want a help if anybody would like a new student.
I want to port this ROm to my Intex Aqua i14 which is also a MT6582 device and has Android 4.4.2 which is almost AOSP.
So can anybody guide me so that I can go ahead with my project I am intended to move ahead with?
Millions of thanks to the helpers.

The porting process is very easy but the tricky part is that you need to find ROM's with the SAME specs and with the SAME chipset
You''ll need Cygwin and Anroid Kitchen
You can follow this guide http://fabosums.blogspot.co.at/2014/02/port-any-rom-to-mtk-device-in-5-mins.html
Good luck and let me know if it works :good:
Android one got its kernel source released, and so the developer was able to successfully build cm11/from source, and fix all bugs
Most mtk phones don't have kernel source
Also android one's boot.img is apparently different from normal mediatek boot.img format
Anyway, cm can't do much about it
Ask your respective devices developer to build cm for it, if he can
Sent from my A1 using XDA Free mobile app
Did you ported the ROM ??
Sent from my Starmobile up using XDA Free mobile app

[Sony] Xperia Open Devices Project

Sony Mobile is committed to supporting the open developer community, and one way to show this is by publishing parts of our code as well as selected tools developed by our internal developers.
For some of the Xperia™ devices, we provide Android™ Open Source Project (AOSP) device configurations on GitHub. This means that the software will be open for you as a developer to use and contribute to. This is a way for us to support the open Android community, and it is also a tool for us to facilitate and verify contributions to AOSP.
If you want to build AOSP for your unlocked Xperia device, you find all the resources you need in the sections below.

Question, will there be a kernel 4.4 for the Z5P?
Or is there a "guide"/link to where/how to build your own for the Z series?
