[Q] omg omg omg - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

First off, I am not a noob (really) but I made a big mistake today. More of an extremely bad oversight honestly.
Also I searched the forums (and Google) for something similar but so far have run into dead ends.
So I started out trying to root and flash my friend's TF201 today and managed to get root and TWRP 2.3.X onto it (unlocked).
Then I proceeded to try flashing a rom. I didn't realize that one of the requirements for the rom was TWRP 2.6+ so when I flashed I got stuck at the ASUS logo. No biggie, been here before, I know my way out.
Once I realized what the issue was, I searched TWRP flashable zip (backup I made of stock rom didn't wanna restore for some reason :/ ) and I came across a flashable TWRP 2.6+ zip and tried flashing it.
Here's where things get pretty ugly. Upon reboot I get stuck at the Asus logo again, so I try to get back into recovery and I can't even get into, what I believe, is the bootloader menu.
NO option for RCK (recovery), NO option for Fastboot, NOTHING. Then I realized that the TWRP zip I downloaded was for a Motorola Atrix or some other thing. *epicskullshatteringfacepalm*
So can someone please tell me what I did, and if there's any way to get this thing to at least boot into SOMETHING? I have NO problem opening this sh*t up by the way, it's kind of my job so.. if I need to I will.
Someone please just help me lol this is my friend's Pad and I need to get it back to him in at least working order asap.
Thanks in advance.

Did something similar last week, I just got back from having the motherboard replaced by someone with all the tools. Sorry mate, but unless you made a backup of the bootloader with nvflash, that's what's got to be done. Call around, check ebay.. I went to Cell Phone Repair (cellphonerepair.com) and they helped me out fairly inexpensively - under $100. Not saying that'll be the case with you, I think I just got lucky. But Asus wanted $324.

Thanks man, I appreciate the confirmation. I actually work fixing phones, laptops, and other electronics so I can do that myself. I just needed to know that it was hardbricked for sure before resorting to that. Thanks again.

Need help with boot-looping Hero

I've searched the forums, and maybe I've just not searched correctly, or for the right thing, but I've not been able to find any information specific to my problem.
Anyways, here's what's happening.
Just picked up a new Sprint HTC Hero, followed step by step instructions to root the phone, no problems whatsoever. Made my nandroid backup, saved to the root of my sdcard, no issues there.
Immediately afterward, I downloaded the Black Sense skin, stuck it in the root of the sdcard, renamed to update.zip like instructions said, turned the phone off and rebooted in recovery, installed the update from the sdcard, rebooted, and now is stuck in a boot loop.
I get the sprint animation, the hero logo with the little android guy, and the HTC splash screen, and then just goes back and does it again.... forever. I have not loaded any other ROM or done anything else with the phone, just rooted the phone, dl'd the theme. Now I have heard about loading a different ROM on the phone, but is this required for the Themes to work? If it is, how would I be able to tell which ROM's are compatible with my phone? Sorry guys, I'm new to this, just trying to pick up info as I go.
Most all of the other threads I have found are directed to other phone users who have installed a Hero ROM on a Tmobile G1 or something like that. I haven't been able to find anything specific for my device, so I'd appreciate any help you all can give. I'm sure its a pretty simple fix, any help?
I had the boot-looping problem on my rooted T-Mobile G2 Hero, and I fixed it by wiping everything from the recovery menu. I dunno if this will help you, since I'm not sure what the differences between Sprint, HTC and T-Mobile's version are, but it might be a good start. :S
thanks
thanks for the quick reply. As usual, I found a boatload of info right after I posted the original thread. I think what I needed to do was to download find and download a rom that is compatible with my version of Hero and android, then find a theme that I like, and then try to update with the theme.
That's about as far as I've got, I'm poring over every bit of info I can find, but its confusing as hell, and poor grammar makes it even harder to understand.

If you did a nandroid backup? boot into recovery and restore the backup, that should reset everything unless you flashed the skin and then did the backup? in that case download a rom for the cdma hero (guessing thats what you have?) rename it update.zip and put it onto your sdcard, boot into recovery and wipe EVERYTHING!, then flash your update.zip. only install themes for specific roms.
yea, had no problem with making the nandroid backup, and after the boot-loop, I pulled the battery and then booted in recovery to restore. No problems there.
I guess I just didn't get enough info before I started messing with the device. Thanks for the help tho.

[Q] Need help fixing my Thunderbolt Please! (Rooted)

Hi all. i'm having trouble finding a specific thread to help me solve my problem. (I'm not too good with rooting, and should have not messed with it in the first place!)
Anyways let's get to my problems:
So I needed to take my phone to the Verizon Store, and without thinking went straight to the Factory Reset thing. Now everytime I try booting up my phone it gets stuck on the custom bootup screen and freezes during part of the animation and just stays there.
I have read things that say try going into hboot and doing recovery, but all's it asks me to do is update, then has me reboot. It doesn't update anything as it still does the same exact thing.
My question is, can someone please help guide me through the process of returning my Thunderbolt back to STOCK. I really am unsure of what I need to download, and where I need to put things, and what I need to name them etc: Clearly I need to think twice before rooting my phone again.
Also when I go to plug my Thunderbolt into my computer via USB my computer cannot recognize the device, any suggestions why?
Thanks so much! Really really need help!
First off all it sounds like you have a pg05img.zip file on the root of the sdcard. Only way to remove it now is pulling the sdcard out and putting it in a conputer and deleting that file. Then you should be able to boot and/or get into recovery.
If that's not the case then i don't know what's preventing you from getting into recovery. Although, just a factory reset should not have caused this anyway.

How did you initially Root your device? I assume revo since so many have now. Like mentioned above make sure you check your sdcard and ensure there is no PG05IMG.zip on it. After you have checked your sdcard for that file and deleted it, or maybe it is not there try to get into recovery.
Pull your battery out and then hold Volume down + power. Where does that get you? Hopefully you made a nandroid of your device after you rooted. If you followed a guide that was most definitely recommended. If this takes you to recovery just do a restore.
If you get restored there are some very good guides that Google will lead you to on how to unroot and return to stock.
1Sorry for the super late response, I'm going to try everyone's advice now, thanks so much for the help!
a factory reset will not unroot the phone. If your going back to stock, you have to unroot it. If you bring it to verizon rooted, they may deny you service...
as stated above, just search google or here for instructions how to return to full stock

Interesting story regarding a Fascinate I bought off craigslist...

I bought a fascinate from good ol craiglist for a friend. When I bought it I noticed the original user had already rooted it and installed CM7.
Because I didnt know what he had done to it I decided to start from scratch and used Odin and flashed powerwashed_20_b3_Full_ec09modem and the atlas_v2.2.2.pit
After that I flashed cwm4_fixed_for_cm7-ODIN.tar and began getting ICS on this baby (teamhacksung-ota-eng.BUILD2.zip followed by build 11 at the time).
Everything was gravy and I gave the phone to my friend who was a happy panda. Several weeks later he calls and tells me the phone is stuck in recovery, I assume he borked something so I headed over thinking I will just Nandroid the ICS ROM that I set up before I gave it to him.
Funny thing was after rebooting from the Nandroid, the phone goes back to recovery! I was a little confused but assumed that maybe the Nandroid went bad when I backed it up. So I decided to just reflash build 11 again, after the flash was successful i reboot and.... back to recovery?
At this point I was pretty confused, CWM appeared to be working but it wasnt. Nothing was working, not even flashing CM7. The only way I got it to work again was to Odin the powerwashed_20_b3_Full_ec09modem and the atlas_v2.2.2.pit again. So that was what I did and got him back to ICS (build 13 this time).
Thinking it was a freak occurence I didnt pay it any mind, until he called me again several weeks later saying its stuck in CWM again!? So I check it out and sure enough it keeps booting to recovery and not able to nandroid or flash anything (even tho it says it does successfully).
At this point I assume its a hardware issue but dont understand what exactly, I bought another on craiglist and will swap with him and further investigate the issue.
I looked around the forums to see if anyone had a similar issue but have not seen anything like this. Anyone have any ideas??
This is most likely caused by doing the three finger reboot on the newer ICS roms. Tell them to pull the battery instead the next time their phone locks up. Also, there is boot loop breaker in the development section.

I assumed that as well, however my friend has no experience with these devices and would never hold down all three buttons for any reason. Both times he had reported that the phone randomly went into recovery on its own.
He could be BSing me of course, but I'll be testing it when I get it back tomorrow and see if I can recreate the scenario.
But I will be including the boot loop breaker file in the SD card and see if that at least makes this phone usable again instead of having to use ODIN every time. So thanks for that info!
Check kernel settings. Sleep Of Death, maybe?

Stuck with a Transformer that I can't change the ROM to

So a complicated story:
I bought a transformer prime some time ago then rooted it and installed WOOKIE rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674827) then it's sat unloved for a few months.
However I've tried to resurrect it for the festive period and am in trouble. (I've been a keen user of the roms on here for many years, with a smart phone for over 10 years, so I'm not completely thick!)
I'm trying to get paranoid android on it;
However, as soon as I go to CWM and try to install the ROM I get a terrible error message, (Will update once I can get it on my screen but it's on 0% charge currently) but can roll back to install a backup, so that's not the end of the world.
So my issue is how do I get from what I have to where I want to go to?
I think the solution is as follows:
a) I need to get Clockwork ROM working well first. Any ideas?
b) I need to downgrade the ROM to something, But I'm unsure what
c) If a and b are in place, I think I can do the rest.
Please help me! All this talk of downgrading roms has confused me.
1. Let go of CWM. No one uses it anymore. Download TWRP here: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2 It will probably fix your errors and it has a lot more features than CWM, is more polished etc.
2. Without NVFlash you can't downgrade. Here is guide how to do it: https://www.androidroot.mobi/pages/guides/tegra3-guide-nvflash-jellybean/ If you don't want to downgrade I recommend you to install CMB rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2501812 It's Android 4.3.1, everything works and is probably fastest ROM that we can get on our primes.
Thank a bunch zdenko1.
I'm on the case, however I left my laptop entirely flat overnight, so it's upto 0% and 3% charged. And it's Christmas eve!
It's really good to have someone help me out with a bit of detail - so thanks for this.
If I don't post, assume it works, and here's to a peaceful Christmas break to you all
Now I think I have cooked my goose!
I was unable to get anywhere with this,
So with an air of confidence I ran a program (again the name escapes me) which lets you return your computer back to stock, from which one is able to get it working and you're back to square 1.
Great I thought and as ususal I throw my self both feet in.
It formats fine etc until it asks me to get the original update ROM/blob I think -
which I didn't have, so hen tried to download it and couldn't find it.
So now I think it really is screwed
Nothing formatted, I can't enter recovery mode and things are looking bad.
Does ODIN work/provide an answer? If so please help!
Of course I realise that ODIN is Samsung own!
So I think I need a ROM/BLOB that restores me to a working copy via bootloader?
Is that on the right line?
Just seeing if I have to give this up as lost and sell as broken or can it be resurrected?

DO NOT INSTALL ANY OTHER RECOVERY WHILE USING THE NEW 4.2.1 BOOTLOADER, THEY ARE NOT COMPATIBLE AT THE MOMENT, THE ONE BUILT IN IS MODDED. USE THE DOWNGRADE ZIP TO TAKE YOU BACK TO 4.1.1 BOOTLOADER AND RECOVERY IF YOU NEED IT.

Using the link you provided in the OP, scroll down until you see the downgrade hairybean 4.1.1 bootloader and recovery. That should get you to a point of being able to flash a new rom.

[Q] New to posting, not new to the forum

Hi everyone,
I have been frequenting XDA for quite a while. Hugely into android and custom roms and things of the sort, but have never had a real reason to post. I have either been lucky enough to be able to find what I need by searching, or figured it out myself. This time however, I am pretty stumped.
I did a fair amount of research before starting this, and am now seeing that I did not do quite enough. If I am in the wrong place please direct me to a better one.
Here is my issue:
I have an LG g2 that I recently picked up used. Phone has never been rooted or worked on...until now. Decided I would spend my weekend working on it. Successfully rooted, and installed TWRP. Decided to flash a rom, downloaded my rom as I have always done, put it on the sdcard, made a couple of nandroids, and flashed it. Everything seemed ok, booted back up, got the correct boot animation, but it bootlooped. No big deal Im thinking, go back into recovery and wipe a couple times. Still wont boot. Go back in and restore my nandroids, and they wont boot either.
So now I am worried. Try it a coulple more times, and somehow get it to reboot to the setup screen. Wont go past there. Do the trick to avoid it and cant get it to activate. Double check everything, power off, wipe, power back on and now it wont even load to there. I tried sideloading a different rom as well as what seems to be the stock software and nothing. Im lost, I need help. Any advice?

Sounds like you need to restock and start over. I'd give you links but how to do so varies by which version or carrier the phone is from.
