[Q] Alliance ROM problems on SGH-S959g Straight Talk - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Hello there, I need help with the Alliance ROM on my SGH-S959g.
Now I know i777 ROMs are flashable on the s959g
Note: running my CyanogenMod 10.1.3 RC 2 backup ROM on my phone currently cause i tried to install the other ROM alot and failed each time
1st time: directly flashed Alliance ROM v2 on my s959g without reading how to install or the forum post about the ROM. reflashed CMW with Odin and restored backup ROM
2nd time: factory reset/wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, flashed Alliance ROM v2, factory reset/wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and booted to a black screen. no boot animation
3rd time: factory reset/wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, flashed Alliance ROM v2, factory reset/wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, flashed AJK v4.9 AOSP kernel, factory reset/wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, rebooted recovery, reset tweaks, reboot system.
on this try i see the Samsung Galaxy S2 Pre Boot then the AJK kernel Boot screen then a blank screen. just like the second try
and yes i've looked and searched for my question before posting and found no fix or solution.
help please

I don't understand why this wouldn't have flashed for you, other than AJK may not be a supportable kernel for this old rom. Tell me, what exactly happened the first time you flashed this old version of Alliance? I don't see where you mention that, other than you didn't read the instructions and installed CWM thereafter.
I know that the v2 goldieking built for us ages ago featured a kernel that was TWRP-based, so perhaps it's possible that didn't agree with your device.
I would say forget this old version and manually port v9 in the 9100 thread, using AJK 4.9 MicSwap. I can guarantee it works - I was running it myself a few weeks ago, it's a great rom.

i install the rom with ROM customizer with modem and recovery unchecked then install AJK 4.9 AOSP. Do i need MicSwap to make it work?
Update: Flashed the old rom with ROM customizer, Installed AJK MicSwap and i saw the boot animation but thats it

Yes, it has to be MicSwap. The AOSP kernel is for CM-based roms.
The Rom Customizer method should still work, but if it doesn't just flash it in recovery like everything else. If you do get it to boot, stay away from ALL of the mods in the OTA section of Customizer; they're not built for this version any longer.

For the 9100 v9, yes. But you also have to flash one of our modems.

I did that and lost my s959g's CWM recovery and got the i777 modem. had to reflash recovery with Odin.
Update: I installed Biftor's ROM on my s959g and love it so far. but I'm want to know if this ROM has NFC or Android beam since its built on the stock Samsung ROM but I can't find NFC options in the wireless and network side on the ROM. is it somewhere else in the ROM?

[SOLVED]SGS2 issues upgrading to Jelly Bean

Hello, I hope this is the right group.
I have spent the last 2 days trying to get JB working on my SGS2. I previously had ICS Hydra h2o 1.4.1 ROM on my device.
The troubles started when I tried booting into CWM recovery. The phone wouldn't go past the yellow triangle so I had to use ODIN to flash stock Samsung ICS ROM on the phone to get it working again. I have since tried multiple JB ROMs with different kernels but most of them get past the yellow triangle but then stop on logos varying between kernels. I am also unable to boot into CWM recovery and must flash a CF-Root kernel using ODIN to get into recovery.
It is strange that this happens only with JB ROMs and I have no trouble installing Hydra h2o again through recovery.
I always use the same method of installing ROMs through CWM:
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache
- wipe dalvik
- install .zip from sdcard
I have also tried fixing permissions before and after flashing ROMs, nothing seems to get me into the OS.
One ROM, Vanilla RootBox, I have found to sometimes boot all the way into the OS but the system frequently freezes and is unstable. Looks amazing tho.
Do you have any ideas on how I could get JB ROMs working with my SGS2? Is there anything I am missing?

Follow this:
-boot to CWM recovery
-wipe data /factory reset
-wipe dalvik cache (under advanced)
-format /system (under mount and storage)
-flash ROM
-flash Gapps (for jelly bean)
-fix permissions
-reboot phone
Done
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
Thank you for the reply, but that method does not seem to work either.
One thing I have noticed though is when I select wipe data/factory reset it reports an error formatting /sdcard/.android_secure.
Is this something that could be causing my problems?

When I'm flashing I'm using XLPB kernel with CF-root. That's the kernel I flash to get into CWM when the ROMs misbehave.

try this.
after flashing Cf-root kernel from ODIN.
1) flash the .zip file of siyah kernel v3.5.2 for S2, dwnld the same Here.
2)after that reboot into siyah kernel recovery.
3) wipe data/factory reset, then wipe cache and dalvik.
4) flash the JB rom zip file(Vanilla root box).
5)reboot ur phone and see.
ps- before doing wipes and rom flash do please backup ur exsisting rom once ur into siyah kernel recovery first

Gives me Kernel panic or stops at the triangle loading screen. Seems the only way to get into CWM is through CF-root.

Use a newer version of siyah or dorimanx, they should work fine
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I have tried three versions of syiah, including 4.1.4 but I will try dorimanx and report with the results.
edit: dorimax kernel is the same.
One thing I noticed tough is whenever I wipe dalvik cache the system reports "unknown volume for /ext-sd blablabla" - maybe this is connected to my problem?
I am at a complete stop...
No JB kernels seem to work whatsoever. Is there any wit to flash the bootloader? Or is that even possible?
I really would like to get JB working on my device.
There must be something about the previous state of my phone, some files or folders that are in the way or are missing or somewhat. Is there any way to completely reset the phone? Not just factory resetting it since that is not working.
edit: Progress! These are my steps:
- Downloaded fresh stock Samsung ROM and another version of CF-root.
- Flashed stock ROM and then CF-root kernel.
- Booted into recovery and did the whole wipe.
- Flashed .zip twice (don't know if that did the trick or what)
- Wipe dalvik cache and fix permissions.
After that the phone booted normally and I'm now running ResurrectionRemix with Android 4.1.1, hoping it wil be awesome as ****.

[Q] install cm9.1 on android 4.0.4 with siyah 4.1.5+Dual-Boot

Hi, I've recently flashed Siyah v4.1.5 and discovered the Dual-boot option in recovery. I want to install Cyanogenmod 9.1 as a second rom. Does it boot and work properly with mit Siyah 4.1.5? Is it possible to dual-boot between stock 4.0.4 and cm9.1? I have already read a few threads about flashing custom roms but I'm still unsure what to do and how dual-booting works. I wanted to do the following:
1.)clone st Rom to 2nd Rom
2.)wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache
of 2nd Rom
3.)install cm-9.1.0-galaxys2.zip as 2nd Rom
4.)install gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip on 2nd Rom
are these the newest gapps and are they compatible with cm9.1? I
read that they're for 9.0.x but I guess they work on 9.1 to since I
couldn't find anything else
5.)wipe data/factory reset of 2nd Rom
6.)reboot

I don't really understand that instructions. It starts with wiping cache and dalvik of 2nd rom and then installing 2nd rom and no factory reset is performed. Where is the part about cloning the rom?
Read the first post of that thread mate. It has a small FAQ on dual boot.
Anyways its really simple.
In CWM go to dual boot options, there you can clone 1st Rom to 2nd. Have patience since it can take a while
In fact, all the things you mentioned can be found under dual boot options in CWM.
And yes, they're compatible with siyah 4.1.x

[Q] Flash Rom or Kerner First?

Please forgive my ignorance - I'm coming from the droid x with unlocked bootloader and never had a Kernel option-
I flashed Beans' Build 6 and chose the Perseus Kernel, and loved it.
I'm trying out the Clean Rom 4.05, and would like to flash Perseus to try with it.
Do I have to wipe anything first? Do I simply flash this in CWM (after a making a nandroid)?
I'm guessing I just flash it from Clean Rom, but would love a confirmation first... Many thanks!
I love having a typo in the title... Teach me to post before my first cup of coffee...
Just wipe cache and dalvik and then flash the kernel . Also if you flash a new rom flash the kernel after the rom. But always wipe cache and dalvik first.

I just flashed Beans build 6 which has the option of flashing the kernel in Aroma. Nice to know the proper steps if I need them though
I flashed Beans 6 on Saturday and flashed the Perseus kernel today. Wiped cache, dalvik and flashed...piece of cake.
Just installed Beans 6 with Perseus last night...really a piece of cake.

[Q] WizzedKAT 3.3 for I777 ?

I am currently running WizzedKAT 2.0 rom with jeboo kernel on my i777. Want to update it to version 3.3 as posted here is S2 Development.
I have tried installing it with jeboo kernel and also with philz but my phone stuck in bootloop or sometimes restarts. Any idea how to install this rom and which is suitable kernel for this rom so my capacitive buttons will work ?
Looks like u need a kitkat kernel with that version 3.3 of WizzedKAT Rom. U could try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48770563&postcount=1 RenderBroken's custom kernel.

Actually, I think WizzedKat is still 4.1.2, (just has a modified build.prop); AJK4.9 MicSwap would be your best bet.

Yes it is based on 4.1.2. Will my capacitive button work on this ajk? And do I have to flash kernel after installing the rom or should I flash the rom using ajk kernel? Because this rom installs kernel as well in the end.
Yes, AJK 4.9 MicSwap will work if that Rom is JB based. Try installing that Rom with AJK, since u r having problems with the install. Then flash AJK after u flash the Rom.

Okay, clean install. But my question still pertains. Did you enter recovery and perform a wipe data/factory reset after step 9?
Maybe it would do nothing to resolve the boot issue, but it's just the next thing I would try under the circumstances. Sometimes things are so obvious that they get missed or skipped.
is there anyone installed this rom without problem?

Samsung galaxy s3 not booting after being flashed by a rom

Model : Samsung galaxy s3 GT19300
I was using s5 sensation rom for my s3 gt19300 but was facing some problems. So i swithed to Glamour s5. The flashing process was successfully done (i wiped all cache, dalviks cache). Now when i start the phone the samsung logo appears and then the screen remains blank. Now i cant start my phone. Tried flashing the same file several times yet no progress( phone can start in recovery mode). Now i dont have any backup of the previous roms on my phone and cannot access phones internal memory as phone is not starting up. * Is there any way by which i can paste the previous rom on my phones internal memory and flash that? Or any other process using odin or anything so that i can get my phone back:crying:*
Tried various times by removing battery for a long time and flasing again and clearing cache and dalviks cache.
Any way to read phoneinternal memory on PC in recovery mode to paste the previous rom file.
Thanks in advance

Actually your problem with glamour rom is just the kernel. After flashing the rom, don't reboot but flash appropriate kernel then you reboot.

there are boeffla, agni & arter's kernel. go check out in android development section, it's using archiport ported rom 4.4.2. just download the kernel for 4.4.2 & flash it after flashing the rom in recovery.
