As soon as a dev can get his/her hands on the image and root it. History would suggest a day to a week imo.
Code is being pushed to AOSP as we speak, images should follow soon after (at least for Mako atm supposely)

With the 4.4 update improving performance on devices with 512mb of ram, do you guys think this will have a significant impact on the nexus 10 performance wise?
Being that our GPU takes up around one 1gb of ram due to the high res screen, I'm hopeful that 4.4 will work some magic and make the nexus 10 a little more multitasking friendly and smooth performance out a bit.
Keep an eye out here.. Although Manta always lags behind so cross your fingers.

The thing is, even if someone builds an AOSP ROM for the N10 it won't have the updated binaries until Google Publish those or the Factory Images, those binaries could be part of the performance improvement so I think we'll have to wait

Yeah it will wipe the whole device. It will be back to absolute factory state. You can either copy your photos and app data to a computer and flash the factory image or wait for someone to repackage the stock rom for flashing via custom recovery. You normally won't have to wait long for someone to repackage it though

OK thanks I'll do that. For some reason I always have trouble getting back to stock so it might be better to just flash the factory image. I have about 21 gigabytes of data through so it'd take forever to copy it to a CPU and back. I'll just wait for the repackage.

I'm excited to have the better quick settings as toggles as they should have been from Google. Having them be shortcuts to their perspective settings is dumb. Can't wait to get off work today and try this ROM out!
I installed this a while ago and so far everything is running great, the only thing I noticed is that the changelog shows that it has the Trinity kernel but it does not appear to be there once the ROM is installed.
Edit: The only thing I've noticed is that when playing Need for Speed: Most Wanted the steering is now off about 8-9 degrees to the right, I have to hold the device tilted to the left to maintain a straight line while driving.
Edit 2: I got the steering issue figured out and all is well.

Nice to see 4.2 ROMs pop up here and there.
But considering all the complaints about the stock version, how's the battery life and performance? What about screen calibration?
I know benchmark results don't always have anything to do with real life but still it'd be fun to see some results in Quadrant, Velamo, Antutu.

Which to me indicates that the Nexus 10 2 will not be coming out anytime soon, or rather this month anyway. I bet the Nexus 5 is launched in the next few days, but the 10 I'm sure is at least a month off. Usually before something comes out, you get some sort of pictures etc of what it may look like a week or so before it comes out. But in the case of the Nexus 10 2, their has been zero pictures of any kind posted or leaked.

Yeah it sucks if they are. But honestly I probably won't get it unless it has at least 64 gb of storage and a better screen. I'm perfectly content with the current Nexus 10. It does everything I need it to perfectly. More storage space would be cool, but I don't really need it with my otg.

This is likely a false render, look carefully at the position of the front facing camera. It is on the side like phones or some small tablets. Also why would a 10" tablet be shown in portrait mode when that size is almost always used in landscape?
Also it looks like it isn't 16:10 screen ratio... Fake

The history log on battery monitor widget pro reports the tablet as drawing quite a bit more power when in screen off standby compared to 4.3. It used to be less than -10mA. Now, it can be up to -300mA, but slowly declining after that to -81mA. I'm not sure if it's really drawing that much more power, or there's something about the way the data is collected that is skewing the results. I'm not noticing a significant difference in the power draw as reported on battery monitor widget pro for screen on usage though.
Sound's like I might be keeping 4.3 then...

I've noticed better colors.
Or maybe just a better behave of the light sensor (I'm pretty sure about that... finally!)
Less homescreen redraws, I used to hate that thing.
No hard reboots so far, but it's only half a day...
And yes, new settings layout really sucks, I hope Google fix that soon.
Some disappointing reports here and the lack of transparent navbar and not ART piss me off. I'm a big Google fan and love Android but must say Android updates/releases have become a bit boring. It's seems innovation in Android has slowed to a crawl. I sure hope it's just temporary with all the changes in the Android team and they get back on track soon...

So as a Nexus 7 2013 owner, i stumbled upon a thread linked to another thread with optimized dalvik files for qualcomm chips in the Nexus 4 and moto x. People found it to work in the Nexus 7 since it has a pretty similar chip. I then ventured and decided to try it on the S4 since its chip is also pretty similar to that of the Nexus 7. After flashing, it runs just as well as ART, maybe better. According to quadrant (I'm not a big benchmark person, but it does help from time to time), the increase was pretty big. Screenshots of that will be below. Another awesome thing is that since it's dalvik, apps that were broken with ART should work. I tested this with Tasker, but your results COULD differ, but I'm betting they will all work. So you can now get the performance of ART (or better) with all of the app compatibility we all need. These flashable zips only work on 4.4 so don't go flashing them on an earlier version. There is a Q & A section in the main thread where most questions should be able to be answered.
Thread link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546120

A HEADS UP ON THE BENCHMARKS
So i just remembered the benchmarks ran were done with my max CPU clock down to 1566 on KT kernel. So with that in mind, running with 1566 max and getting this high of an improvement? That's pretty insane.

I thought that had to be programmed on a per app basis?

I don't believe so. If that were the case, it wouldn't be practical for every app in existence to have to be re-coded to work with art.

It doesn't , I just looked it up. You should read the android police article about ART though. They said right now it probably has more overhead than Dalvik because Google included a bunch of logging data to check stability rather than extensive optimizations.

FAQ
What type of kernel does this use?
AOSP kernels. I, personally, use ElementalX.
Where's my root access?
Look up a little bit, above the FAQ section.
Where is ART?
It seems that this is a hybrid 4.3-4.4 build of android, mainly KitKat, but features such as ART and Immersive have yet to be implemented.
What about Immersive mode?
Read the question directly above this one. Immersive is partially present, but seems to be statusbar-only.
OK will try does this have a lot of settings for themes etc...

Themes haven't been fully implemented yet. You can test some of its current, limited functionality by going to Settings > Display > Wallpaper > Themes.

I notice it in the Copy/Paste mainly, but the order is easy to remember.

Are you sure you can use ElementalX with this? I've been running it since the first beta was released, but every time I try to flash a custom kernel it fails to boot at all. Also you should note that if you flash GAPPS the weekly automatic OTAs will fail due to the way MIUI implement weekly patches - checks for system apps and if it finds anything it is not expecting then it fails.

You can use ElementalX as long as you use the AOSP version. As for the GApps issue, I think I mentioned something about that in the OP. I'd have to double-check.
EDIT: I didn't mention that issue specifically, but I did mention to check that thread for details with root and GApps.

Amazing!
Thank you so much! This is amazing! A nice change from stock Android
I also have the Chinese characters in the copy/paste text popup even though I selected English. Definitely not a big deal though
Thanks OP!

Care to check General Chat? I was told to put the thread there by a mod due not being "original" (by me). Otherwise it's duplicated...
Have used the rom.... its sad we can only choose the V5 to flash.. the previous V4 is way better.. there is no theme to choose for V5 and all the icon fonts and logo are tiny winy...

This is actually v6, based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Nice, but XDA and GPL require a link to kernel source included with the ROM. AOSP really means .... nothing as it's only a generic term.

There is no v6.. Search at en.miui.com and you would not find it.. This is just v5 based on kitkat.. Still a nice looking rom though!

Thread closed for violating XDA rules.
