So I had to do a claim because my charger port is shot and they don't have any 3Ds to send me. I went ahead and had the phone shipped because I neeeeeed my phone, but I'm pretty upset. Am I totally screwed with a pos Samsung or do I have any options ? Buying a new phone full price isn't possible right now but I am thinking about switching carriers

The E4GT is probably going for more than the 3D right now on ebay and stuff. Call Sprint retentions, have them give you an upgrade, sell your sammy and buy the evolte at $200. Make it happen

I am going to have to file a claim because I messed up my 3d pretty bad and i'm curious as to what I may be getting.
I'd like to add here if it's not too late; the Epic Touch 4G is a fantastic phone. I strongly recommend you play with it a bit before getting rid of it.

I am in the same boat as well. I've cracked my second Evo 3D within 2 months of each other. I haven't cracked any of my previous phones over the past 9 years, but I've had bad luck with my 3D lol. I am also about to drop Sprint for Verizon due to coverage at and near my house, basically non-existant. I moved from Hawaii to DC because of being Military and where I am at now sucks big time. I've been here for a while and have tried the airwave thing, but my area sucks in general. I have a Verizon blackberry for work and it always has reception where my Evo and Evo3D does not. Also, has anyone else had this happen to them?

That sucks you dropped your evo. I had mine without a case for a couple days but I went and picked up an otterbox defender today.
Can anyone link to anything that says the deductible is different then $100? I haven't heard this yet. I don't have TEP on my girls Evo LTE bc I don't do a ton of deving/modding on her phone like I do my own, but with my own I carry TEP because I go through two phones a year or so and it's worth it for me... Otter Box Defender is the only way to go. I bought one for my last Evo and will not own another phone again without one. Well worth the $50, cheaper than a deductible and it has to sustain one hell of an impact to cause any damage. The built-in screen protector works pretty damn good too.
It makes the phone bigger but I think it sits in my pockets better when I go to sit down. You know, not sliding down and weighing down your pocket when you are driving or sitting down to eat.

If you never used your protection plan once then u can go into the store and have them do a standard return the u get a prorated charge back. If you used it once then u can't get a refund but the protection is good for your phone for 2 years from date of purchase.
I bought it on my phone and I got rid of it in 6 months. I ended up getting $146 back. This was before I started working at best buy.

They sign you up for automatic payments from a debit/credit card. Now you just have to remember to keep $10/month in that account to pay for it

Worst case it goes in the drawer with the rest of my old phones. I have legacy devices all the way back to the Motorola StarTac.
It will be my new TEP or insurance policy.
The rate goes up to $132/year + tax+ $150 deductible. Or every bit of $300 if you exercise the policy.
The first year defects are covered by the manufacture.
I believe the sprint buy back on the evo 3d is $110. Not $280 stated above.
Down time is shorter to activate the 3d. I'm not sure if there is an activation charge. I guess there is.
There always seems to be tear down instructions in the sticky sections.
As usual people probably abused the system. And those of us that played by the rules get screwed.

ok so i got this phone on the 5th i believe and ever since that day i have had a case on it but today i was with some people and they wanted to see how it looked without a case. so i took it off and gave it to him and while he was looking at it he turned to me and said "is this supposed to be bent?" so in shock i look at my phone and sure enough the metal bar or strip i guess you would say that is under the home button by the mic is dented toward the back of the phone. since im very careful with my phones and haven't dropped this phone at all and my og evo thats 2 years old doesn't have a scratch on it so i can't figure out where it came from.
so would i be able to take it to the sprint store i got it from and replace it? its just one of those things that once you saw it, it can't be unseen and its driving me absolutely nuts
isn't replacement only valid for 14 days ?

Return to cancel is 14 days, replacement/exchange is 30 days
So you're going to take back what I'm guessing is a perfect running phone, cause a thin metal strip is slightly bent? Dude if you have no clue how it bent, then I'm sure eventually the new phone will probly bent at some point. Regarless I think you only had 14 days anyways and I'm sure the sprint store will blame you for the bent strip. I say put it and the case and forget it.

I think your logic is flawed here. You get the upgrade by signing a contract. So let's say you do this and get the iPhone 5 and sell it for 500 bux. You get you supposed cash for ****s and giggles or to get a new device, that's cool too. Now what happens when a surprise must have device drops in four months. You've spent your money and now are also still locked into contract. Person who bought you iPhone 5 made out like a bandit while your stuck with **** all.
My advice, upgrade to the phone you want or buy your phone outright and get off contracts. Don't let some shmuck on CL make out with deal cuz you want a little party cash.
My $0.02 anyways.

Never buy a phone subsidized unless you totally have to.. Screw 2 year contracts, I'll pay full price please.
In your case I'd buy the iPhone and flip it for some "now" money. You can actually sell it for around 6-700 if you time it right.

I would also get the Note 2, but I thought that you had to keep the phone activated on the line you are upgrading for at least 90 days... might want to check on that... I have two lines and they have different upgrade times, so I thought I could basically have an upgrade each year by alternating but they told me that the phone has to be activated on the line for 90 days... maybe it was just a rep having a bad day...

Im interested in the answer here as well. The only way I can find to make it cheaper is to go T-Mobile on their $30 monthly plan - http://goo.gl/dNLll
It gets pretty cheap compared to your base sprint plan pretty quick going that route.

Not true, they may tell you this at sprint but as long as you activate a new or upgraded phone on the line its supposed to go on you can immediately call back n switch it to another line or off lines. I've done it dozens of times. As long as a phone stays on the line your good, only has to be new phone for a sec to trip the account.
Wait for the new Nexus.

Just my personal belief in not signing a 2 year contract to use a service. I can walk away at any time in those 2 years and not be stuck with an ETA and can also come back as I please. Also you pay a high premium for that phone when it's subsidized.
I just feel it's better to have the option to leave when/if you want.. Guess I shouldn't have said "Never" as I was pushing my thoughts on people. I should have worded it a little different. If you can avoid to purchase the phone full price that's the way to go so you're not locked in and locked down for 2 years.

You pay for that subsidy every month in your bill. Might as well use it.

I don't believe in spending $500 more for a phone to avoid a $350 fee (or less).

Keep your upgrade until the next time you want to upgrade...so maybe this coming summer or even wait 2 years to get something that's way better than the evo 4g lte...I don't think anything that comes out by summer 2013 will be leaps and bounds better than the evo 4g lte
