We have root options now that don't trip knox, is there any other reason why I should wait to root my note 3? Or is now as good a time as any?

If you feel inclined to, then go for it! If you want to keep your KNOX at 0x0 be careful but if you don't care, splurge.

Well I have best buy insurance, and if my phone breaks I will just make sure its really broke, so I am not too worried about the warranty.
Just wondering if I should wait till it was more fool proof. But it sounds easy enough and kingoapp shouldn't even trip knox. I can wait on roms for now, but I really want to root so I can change my dpi.

I know this has probably been asked 1000 times but I really could not find a definitive answer. I want to root my new G2 (VZW) but I do not want to void my warranty. Is there a 100% for sure way to change the "rooted" back to "unrooted" in the menu?
Thanks

No..if u must return it just flash back to stock and the root flag is gone. Blame verizon for doing this.

Really? Because I was reading another thread and one guy said that he went to return his phone and he could not get the flag off. He was able to get a new phone just because he had a nice rep who gave it to him any way.

Flashing the stock rom with the LG tool removes the rooted flag.

This is correct. I've unrooted mine just to see for myself if the flag would be removed. Thankfully, it was.

That makes sense, did they ever get rid of the annoying Knox warnings on stock mj4? I haven't been stock since the day I got this thing.Knox and My Magazine were killing me.

I know right, Knox was still an issue with the 4.3...and no way to get rid of it unless rooted...hopefully won't be the same with 4.4.2
I wonder (from other users opinion), is it better to stay or 4.3 or update to 4.4? I am talking about official release. Can someone give us compare of pros & cons of both system...?

hmm i am not sure but i think @freeza has hinted on the leak thread that there might be something cooking regarding the engineered bootloader (NA4) that makes it possible to downgrade to 4.3 from 4.4. Take with a grain of salt. ( if that how is said... LOL)

For the time since having an android phone I haven't rooted on day 1. But this horrible tether limit is getting annoying and I think I'm going to root. I haven't yet because of this Knox business, if were not any closer to rooting without tripping the Knox I'm going to do it tonight..
Does anyone know of anyone working on a way to root without tripping it yet?? Or does it look like its not going to happen???
Thanks

What makes you say that? On the note 3, the root which didn't trip Knox came out one week after the first root

As far as I know the Note 3 had knox implemented in an ota update, meaning its software based. The S5, however, has a hardware implementation in the form of an efuse which blows when a non samsung signed kernel is flashed. At least thats my understanding

No I had my facts slightly wrong. You're right it does have the efuse and can now be rooted without tripping knox but custom recoveries will still trip it.

Screw it, thats what I think at least. Personally, I don't ever see me needing to get warranty on this phone. As for the Jump plan I have, they never checked a thing when I went in, so I assume I'll be good when that happens. I ahve insurance so even if it did break/malfunction, I'll just break it and pay the 150.00 bucks

I don't see the big deal with knox. With knox tripped the tmobile store will still take it no problem. Usually the first thing I do when I get a phone is root it and knox is never a worry of mine

a person I know tripped a knox in....note 2 i think? swapped it with a new note 2 because he dropped it. when he went to get the note 3, Tmobile declined him unless if he paid up front because of the knox. he used insurance to get it switched out. So they do check at some point it seems and note you.
Watch out, they will be checking

You may have skipped by and got lucky like me the first time, but I know for a fact that the policy of the Jump company is telling them to check the KNOX counter. I believe and was told at the TMO store that they will be checking and are required to check otherwise the Jump program will take the money from TMO. So TMO is now going to hold employees accountable who do not check to see if KNOX is tripped and JUMP catches it. Just saying, hate to waste one hundred and fifty dollars every time I jump! It's bad enough just paying the damn sales tax! Then buying all the extras like a case, battery, etc.

You realize Knox was not on my Galaxy Note 3 when I received it, it came almost six months later. It is now a hardware, firmware feature of the phone and the TMO stores will be checking for it. We all got lucky this last time around but it will not be so when it comes time to Jump again. So be aware of that and find other ways to replace your phone or you'll be paying extra every time.

For me, flashing Philz custom recovery through ODIN did not trip my bootloader's knox counter. I thought it was very odd and that maybe I got lucky. Then I flashed the SU zip file through the custom recovery and then my counter was tripped.
Instead of doing an insurance replacement, you could just do a free warranty replacement to get a phone without knox tripped.
Don't mean to troll, but on a side note, we poor AT&T S5 folks are waiting for even a very basic root

There are security measures on the phone through knox to stop us from rooting this phone. Carrier specific I think to Verizon and AT&T looks like we might have to wait a while

Yes 5.02 had the exploit which was patched in the 5.1.1 update. And to add insult to injury if you flashed to 5.1.1 there's no flashing back (even using ODIN with stock builds) to 5.02. A lot of people permanently lost root this way.
I read that Verizon and AT&T will not boot anymore if rooted. It will show a black screen and message that the phone was rooted.

Haven't been on xda since my s3. Miss having a rooted device. Can't we ff to when we have root for this awesome s6 edge+!
around February or late January a root will be out on the note 3 but only for the 4.4.4 as its not easy unlocking bootloader on the other versions,! stay tuned for more. just a quick video for how to downgrade(the right way) nb-i did not invent the root some guys at an indian fourm did.

Nope...I am still good with what I said. You seem to forget where this came from. Yemen is not known as a tech hotspot....but is known as the headquarters of AQAP (Al Quida in the Arabian Peninsula) and a recruitment location for ISIS. Until someone can prove this root method is totally benign and not a back door to someone hacking my phone or keylogging or whatever....I think I'll pass.
