[Q] How to uninstall stock MMS permanently without getting any error? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi, how can i uninstall my stock MMS permanently? Because when i tried to uninstall/delete it then reboot my phone a notification always appears, it says something like "system ui stopped". Because i want to use my Kitkat's Hangout app as my default MMS app.
My phone is Xperia Ray and i'm on SlimBean ROM 4.2.2 CM10.1.

Hmmm...install Hangouts app first and make sure its become a default app for your message....then you can uninstalled/delete mms apk from your devices...
if its doesn't work then just freeze mms app...

I just froze my stock mms app now after reading this as today I installed Hangouts 2 and want to do the same as you, it worked no problem here running Slim Bean build 2 (JellyBean 4.3.1)
I personally believe your issue is because you're running 4.2.2

How can I install CM9 MMS in Stock ICS 4.0.4

Hello,
I want emoji support in the stock sms app and the only way in my opinion is cm9 mms
I copied the mms.apk from cm9 to my stock 4.0.4 ROM and here is what I got,
opening the sms app works
I can see the list of messages
the names don't show, I see only numbers.
when I open a message the app force close.
I can send ok but after hitting send button I get force close but the message is sent.
Any help will be great guys, thanks.
Anyone guys ?!
Only thing I can think of is to clear the data of the app and take away the .odex file for the old app

CM 10 notifications

I've been messing around with various JB ROMs, but I prefer flashing the nightly builds. Recently I've noticed I only get notifications on the nightly build for my stock apps such as gmail, email, and messaging. Snapchat displays no notification and I have to open the app to manually check for updates. Notifications for everything worked fine on the latest PA ROM. Any idea what's going on?

Yes I did!
I wasn't sure what the problem was so I actually had a very similar thread since I thought they were 2 different issues.
Basically you can't restore snapchat with titanium backup.
If you uninstall it and reinstall it via the playstore it will work.
The other thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36723851

Double text issue

I have been running aosp for a while now and have noticed that whenever I receive a text a few seconds later I get a duplicate of the same message.
It isn't a major issue but annoying just the same. Anybody know a fix?

Thanks for the reply. It happens even on a full wipe and fresh flash with the stock app. Even when I disable the notifications in the stock messaging app to use go sms same deal...
Also to be clear It has been going on since I switched from Sense ICS to AOSP ICS and continues through JB 4.1 & 4.2.

I tried this, and I can confirm it does not work. The samsung app is needed. Also mms is broken in the JB app with and without the stock samsung app.
Thanks for the suggestion of using tb. It makes perfect sense, but after months of using cm10.1 on the g nexus, a little reminder goes a long way.

report back, let us know if it works. very curious
Text sms work. Mms causes force close of the app. After restart, mms is there mark as sending. All older mms messanges are still in the app.
I pulled the stock android app from the most recent nightly cm10.1 build for the verizon note ii. Unfortunately, I dont know enough to do anymore.
Ill try it from a g s3 aosp build. I figure it will be the exact same app, but Im not busy so it worth a shot. I only have access to my phone at the moment, so it might take a little while.

You set the permissions to match the old apk?
Yep, rw-r--r--. And I added .bak behind samsung app.

Same results with aosp mms app. Ive reverted back to samsung app.

Don't think the lock screen msg can be disabled. I use Handcent and froze stock messaging app in TiBu.

I am looking for this as well. I tried the one by Travp @ BAKED but the MMS didn't work.

Cannot send or receive any SMS

I can't send or receive SMS. I can use data and voice.
If I try to update the SMSC, I get "update failed".
If anybody helps me figure out how to fix this, I am offering a $5 payment via PayPal.
Thanks,
Pachonk
Just for the heck of it, have you tried a third-party app like Go SMS to see if the problem persists? What CM 10.2 are you running (nightly, IRC)? Have you updated your profile from a Sense ROM in awhile?
I'm currently running CM 10.2 9/16 IRC build and SMS is fine.

I am on the latest nightly. On ANY Rom I can't send or receive now. I'm not sure if 10.2 even caused it, however.

I can't think of anything, really. Only thing that comes to mind is you having recently activated your phone but I don't really see that being the issue if you have voice & data. You could always flash back to a Sense ROM and do a reset with the dialer codes and basically reactivate your phone, although I'm not sure what good that would do.
Dont know alot about cyanogen but i think its an aosp messaging app. Can you also install the samsung official app? If yes do a reinstall of cyan and choose sms instead of aosp sms. Maybe that would work

Once again, any Rom any SMS app won't work. Thanks! I
I was just having this issue, even with 3rd party apps. Was on 8/30 carbon build. But a full clean reinstall fixed it.
That said, gvoice seemed to work for text briefly, but then it failed, too.
You use Google voice? If so, you check to see if any settings got changed somehow (has happened to me) ?
There's a setting in it for receiving text via gvoice or messaging.
