I don't know what Kingo root is, but this method is super easy. I can't imagine how much easier it could be made than what is posted here. It is my understanding that he killed it because of financial reasons. I guess a couple other competing developers are in the mix so he dumped the N3 and moved to the Nexus 5.
As far as reposting his work.... He already posted it online and its now hosted in a number of spots on the web. Cat's out of the bag. I'm just trying to make it easier for those looking and not have them go off XDA.

NO if you are on MJ7 flash that odin file if you try to flash MI9 or de la vega it will fail and most likely youll need to flash pit to fix your softbrick
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2516667
Which is probably why this shouldn't have been posted without getting with designgears first. Helping someone new to rooting soft brick their phone could really leave people with a bad taste in their mouth.
I think if he wanted to have people use his method he would have updated his thread!!

First of all, if this is for the EU Note, it's probably gonna be more difficult to port to the US Note than, say a ICS leak for the Skyrocket (same SoC as US Note). And secondly, the link in the OP basically gives me a 404.

I'm downloading it now to mirror it elsewhere, but it's gonna take 2-3 hours. Really slow.
The host (uploading.to) stopped allowing downloads from American IP addresses due to the whole megaupload thing. A non-US proxy would work faster if you have access to one.

I wasn't sure what software it was on so tryed the first method for unlocking the bootloader. And now Im getting this message "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again". I have tryed to restore it to stock via the methods stated in this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207 and its failing at sbin or whatever. The phone will go back into download mode but it fails everytime I try to restore it. I am at a loss here. Ok the first note 2 I had was so easy root and then unlock...I didn't remember exactly what I did when It came to the note 2. even though I read through the instructions this most recent time. I know especially with an expensive phone like the note 2 to be very careful. I knew eventually I would figure it out and I would get some help after reading through the many forums on xda. I took for granted how easy it was and thats why I temp. bricked my 2nd note 2. This 2nd note 2 is working fine on eclipse based on the latest ota now. Sorry for being an ass, but I was just trying to solve a frustrating problem, like the ones Im sure you have come across.
Understood. We can move on. We're good.
I believe Kintwofan will come on here shortly and say "use the alternate restore zip". I wasn't trying to humiliate you. I wanted you to remember what you did so you don't do it again. I bet you'll always check 'about phone' now, right? Very important, my friend.

Well you can root it, delete stuff, and actually have a pretty decent phone. If you want to flash a custom Rom you are out of luck unless you sell it and buy something else. But this is a great phone with stock rom. Everything works and works well. Take a look at the aosp threads, problems galore. Aroma installer roms only problems. Ok I'll get flamed but I don't care. Stock on the s4 is unbeatable. So don't trash it. Live with probably the best phone on the market now.l

I don't think he was ripping anyone saying he's "owed anything". Just exhibiting frustration on a locked bootloader. I too had hoped Sammy would not have gone this route, and more development would continue. Those of us on VZW should come to expect this now, as they are nazis with the bootloader. Bootloader unlock is not a selling point for me, but it does make it more fun.

It is frustrating for those of us on ME7 not to have an unlocked bootloader, but I for one am grateful for the options we DO have right now... you can still root and use Xposed to customize to your liking or use Safestrap and flash a decent amount of roms. I will keep waiting patiently for someone to find an exploit, but in the meantime just shut up and enjoy what options we're even lucky enough to have. You picked Verizon, did you really expect freedom?

Has it been proven malicious? No.
Currently there are only 2 ways to root. Kingo and vRoot.
All you can do is read and read some more, then make a decision that's best for you.
There is NO definite answer as to whether there is a 100% safe way to root MJ7.

There are no links Not allowed on XDA . Use Google.
I have no idea which one is safer. I'm not sure if either one is safe. I don't think anyone has a definitive answer yet.

I used vroot and had success and I can say I have seen no suspicious activity at all, yes vroot installs a Chinese superuser app but that's easily replaced with the normal su app, and this exploit seems to get around all Samsung's security not triggering anything except a custom lock when you boot up but even that can be faked using xposed framwork and the wanam app which hides it leaving no sign your phones fully roooted !
I guess once its made open source we will know more. Do you know if it leaves any residual stuff on the device from being rooted from the program. Like vroot leaves its Chinese version of Super User.

Are there even any ROMs out that work for MJ7? Is the superuser app that the program installs, is that all it installs. Seems like it might put something in the background of the phone to make it "keep escaping" knox.

There are no ROMs for MJ7. No custom recovery. No Safestrap. Just root.
All these questions you're asking have ALL been answered several times. Do a little research. There's plenty of info here on XDA.
If you don't feel comfortable using these exploits, then don't use them. Wait a while. You never now what lies ahead.
Nobody here can tell you if it's 100% safe because we just don't know. All I can tell you is that I haven't seen anyone on these boards say anything "bad" has happened with there PC or phone.
I knew 2 days straight without an "MJ7 root or recovery" thread was too good to be true

I don't trust the Chinese. From past experiences, they will do whatever it takes to profit and take your money illegally. Just because nothing has happened to anyone YET does not mean it will not happen in the future. You don't know what kind of backdoor might be planted and what sort of information they're collecting or will collect from your device.
Please be patient. Unless you're life depends on root access. Hold off until a trusted developer can provide us with something we can all enjoy.
I would like a senior member to take 5 seconds to tell me why in hell they are getting the idea that they are so superior that being sly and rude to other members is ok!!! That is not how this site had operated in the past its starting kill the reputation of this community!!! So why dont we knock it back a few guys!!!

That's obviously a blanket statement. If you see somebody being rude confront them through PM.

Who was being rude? If you look on Page 1 of the Q&A forums you will see that this thread is titled exactly like the other one that is 3 pages long.
The community was fine with all the senior members. You say it's because of the senior members this community is killing the reputation?
I'm going to say no. It's the junior members "Please give me everything on a silver platter" mentality and entitlement issue that's killing the reputation of this site. The site operated perfectly fine before whiny kids started showing up only to post things that have already been discussed HEAVILY and to post because they know how to hit "Reply".
I'd rather have Senior Members post with logic and experience than Junior Members, such as yourself, talking bad about them and cluttering up an already useless thread with off-topic posts that had nothing but negativity behind it.
Hope you understand.
