After installing the app did you open safestrap and install? if not then it wont load the splash screen giving you the option to enter recovery.

Flashing Recovery: Doesn't stick

I've tried flashing recovery via Odin and CWM Recovery and it will reboot into recovery just fine. However, when I let it reboot into android, turn it off, and then go back into recovery, CWM is gone. The phone, however, stays rooted.
Any idea what could be wrong or how to fix this?
Secondly, if I can get into CWM immediately after flashing, is it safe to flash a new ROM at that point or do I need to get CWM to stick first?
Anyone? Any suggestions at all will be appreciated

Sure... You can flash a rom immediately following the flash of cwm.... Did you also install busy box?
Which cwm are you trying to use? 5.8.4.7 seems to do me good....?

Before your phone boots after installing cwm in Odin do a battery pull then boot into recovery (Volume Up+Home+power) then flash your superuser/root package. It will stick then.

I tried using that CWM version as well as an older one. Both work and I can get busy box and superuser installed once it boots up. But when I power down and try to go back into recovery, CWM is gone. I do get to keep root though.

I tried unchecking the auto-reboot button on Odin 4 and 7, and going that route. Both allow me to get into CWM, where I try to flash the recovery v5.zip. Still doesn't stick unfortunately.
My flash counter is up to about 10 now, trying to get CWM to stick..

Thanks everyone. I used CWM toolkit, reflashed the stock recovery, then used odin 3.07 to re-flash CWM 5.5.0.4 and it stuck.

Recovery red triangle error

I'm on 3.15 unlocked but not rooted. Right after i unlocked i used goo manager to get and install a recovery. I think it picked 2.4.10 just from memory.. If i try n go into recovery i get a red triangle, it goes to a blank screen after a few minutes then after a couple more reboots.
Any ideas?
Stock recovery, try to install from goo again or install manually. Either fastboot or download the update zip from the team win website.

Yes, you can. Do it through fastboot.
Every time I did it through GooManager it fails. Use GooManager to upgrade an already installed recovery.

[Q] Safestrap not booting?

Hello, I have safestrap and I have it saying that it's installed, but when I reboot into recovery it just does the normal process. I've also tried booting directly into recovery, and it just reboots its self back into normal boot.
Any ideas?
It should show up everytime you do a normally reboot or power on your phone.
I have never used the power menu to reboot into recovery but I'm thinking that is what you are doing instead of just doing a normal reboot.

Do u have safestrap application on your mobile ? Open the aplication and try "reboot in recovery"... Im also using safestrap and it works fine... Curently im not running any rom, its just stock with removed bloat applications with titanium backup

That would have been nice to mention up front as Safestrap doesn't work on MJ7.
It sounded like you had it working and it suddenly stopped working. If you took the OTA to MJ7, yeah, you're stuck.

You can download the zip file here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552655
Then reboot into recovery. Then flash the zip like you would any other. When you reboot to recovery, you will have a new recovery.

See my above instructions. It is a zip file that you flash in recovery so there is no Odin involved.

Booting into recovery from the power menu is not supported. Either reboot and press the Menu button when the Safestrap splash screen comes up or use the Safestrap app to boot into Safestrap.

Then when the Safestrap splash screen comes up press the Menu button to go into recovery. If it doesn't come up at all, make sure you installed the recovery correctly and not just the app.

ok...installing safestrap is a 2 step process:
1. step one is to install the actual safestrap APK program
2. step two is to open safestrap program up and install the recovery.
then using your power off button to restart your phone, the safestrap splash screen will come up...hit the actual button (menu) to go into safestrap recovery, not the screen icon button.
please review the following thread before doing anything else to your phone

You can just uninstall the Safestrap App via Application Manager in Settings.
Having similar problem with safestrap
I have root access and SuperSU installed and working.
I downloaded the most recent version of safestrap (3.71 for mk2).
I open it and click install recovery. It does a few things and at the bottom it says "installed" but the status never changes to installed at the top and I can't reboot to recovery.
Any suggestions?
You may have to change SELinux to permissive.

The option on the safestrap menu. It stays grey.
Don't you need BusyBox install first before installing Safestrap

I think I may have a boot loop and not sure how to fix it. Anyone?
I got safestrap working. I installed hyperdrive and it said it installed successfully. I told it to reboot, safestrap says it's enabled, I click continue and then nothing...
By the way, I really appreciate all the help so far.
