There is warranty, except I have to ship to acc. jack for them to process for me. Someone on head-fi said they covered his 11 month old headphones without issues, so I'm not really concerned. Doesn't really seem like much extra hassle vs me taking it up with Sony myself. And like you said, the Mk2 is $100-$150 more everywhere else, any warranty is probably an issue as well since it's all overseas sellers.

After a ton of research, I was pretty set on getting the MDR-1RBTs and planned on buying them at the duty free shop in Hong Kong. Right next to the 1RBTs were the 1RBT MK2 model so although not quite sure what the differences were, went with the MK2 b/c it had a shiny sticker that said HD Audio (what is that?).
Anyhoo, the price for the 1st gen at duty free was $2399 HKD ($310 USD) and the MK2s were listed at $3099 ($400 USD). Bargained them down to about $2800 HKD ($360 USD) right before hopping on my plane. Had a chance to listen to it while on the plane and am VERY impressed so far.
I was hemming and hawing over the noise canceling version but opted for wireless instead. These do a great job of blocking out ambient noise and minimizing plane noise. So far they are quite light and comfortable and the BT works like a charm. I had them on while making a quick pitstop to the restroom which was about 30 ft away and the signal was not compromised at all using my Galaxy Note 2.
Get these bad boys!
Are you guys who have these mainly using these at home, or do you take them with you while commuting to work, in public, etc.? I've been interested in these lately, and before I decide to drop the money on them, I just wonder how much use I would get out of them.

I have a really short 10 minute commute by subway so I use them maybe half the time during my commute. If it were any longer 15+ minutes, I'd probably use them all the time.
I ALWAYS use these headphones when I fly and I fly ALL the time for work. They help keep out the ambient plane noise and nobody is the wiser when you use them throughout the flight via bluetooth.

it seems like no matter which premium headphone we select, we are limited to the DSP of the Ultra- meaning the sound quality will remain low/subpar no matter which headsphones they might be- wireless or wired.
I am really disapointed by weak DSP on our ultras

Some of you may remember the old Commodore Amiga- It was a PC in the 80/90's that introduced things like multitasking, multimedia, and coprocessed graphics when they weren't commonplace and sold about 6 million units. The brand has long since died, although it still has a band of fanatical followers who insist it will rise again.
I was surfing the web and ran across this. Look familiar?

Heh awesome.
I wonder if they did any adjustments to the UI to make it more 'amiga -like' or their own launcher called "workbench".
I'd buy that.
So much nostalgia for Amiga, but then I guess I'm showing my age
OMG - Amiga adopted the G-Tablet!
Those specs are pretty much the G-tablet, right? Except they list an actual HDMI output and no full-sized USB host.
I had an Amiga 1000 in '85 and blew my friends away. Used it well into the '90s.
So ... a G-tablet with an Amiga ROM?
Interesting to say the least.
Did you guys know that someone has purchased Commodore and relaunched it as Commodore USA? Can't post a link but just google "Commodore USA"
Showing my age as well, I had one in HS and took it with me in the Navy. If anyone can pull that ROM and ports it to the G-Tab you'll make a lot of us ol'-timers happy. Perhaps a VEGAMIGA Rom? I can even see some vinyl design. I can perhaps setup some AI's for those with access to SignLab, or other cutting software - Lol.
Says OS is is 2.2 upgradeable to 3.0.
It's definately the GTab/Vega, and for $150 more than you can buy them for right now. I think I could buy an Amiga sticker a bit cheaper.
Based off of the info on the site, it's definitely Google Experience Android. The boot sequence on the 7" model looks cool, though:
Do they have a Vic 20 model (my first computer)? Maybe a 64 model?

Damnyou people are old.
Memory Lane
My family didn't have a lot of money when I was a kid so I couldn't afford an Amiga. Instead, I spent my summer job money on a Commodore 128 instead (with dual-sided floppy drive) and spent what was left over on my first car (1976 Plymouth Volare coupe V8) from a family friend. Ah... that brings back some really sweet memories...
I still have the 128. I haven't had the time to play with her in a few years and was looking for a good home for her since I can't give her the attention she deserves.
Original Amiga owner here (yeah old). Still have a boxed set.
In the news now is that The new Commodore is launching a c64 with new pc innards, blue ray etc. Looks just like the old one though, rumored to go around $700 to $800.
Saw that too. Rumoured to be a netbook in c64 clothing.
My family was soo poor that we could only afford the Texas Instraments TI-99a.
I remember spending a whole afternoon programming a polar bear walking across the screen. Then having no way to save my work after running it.
That and rhe knock off games of pacman and spy hunter.
Those were the days.

I have been corrected. You are right. I had read an article about a week ago that said the updated C-64 was going to look like the VIC-Slim. I guess the author of that article had jumped the gun and reported crap. Thanks for clearing that up.
Speaking of the Amiga, did anyone ever get decent emulation running for the Android? I'd love to have Workbench on my Gtab for giggles.
Never had an Amiga, although my Uncle had a few and was a huge fan for a while.
Heh. My family was so poor, my first computer was a second hand Trash-80 from a garage sale.

What a huge let down, samsung is releasing tons of sgs2 varients(att/tmo/sprint/intl/lte/hd lte/note/prime) while apple simply upgrades the soc and camera after all this time and says its new and magical.
Screen size
Micro SDXC 64GB+
MKV + others
drag n drop media/files
Better Customization
This is what's lacking for me to even consider changing sgs 2

they are no where near samsung
And they took the Android's roller blind notification.
Apple we're great for kicking the arse of the smartphone back in 2007, but they have fallen behind. Quite disapointing really. If they don't come up with something more "Magical" next year, they might become the new Nokia?
In graphic department the iPhone 4S wins even at a higher resolution (iPad for instance beats all other smartphone and tablets even if they have lower resolution).
Second it wins by more apps also iOS5 is pretty cool although it copied some Android features I guess. But they made it look more sexier, like the notification and widgets look alot better on iOS.
But the downside would probably be it being down clocked to either 700-800mhz since the iPad 2 is at 900Mhz.
But Samsung Galaxy S2 wins everything else

I was on that boat too SG2 for president!!!!
pr0n. can close the topic now. jk
Hmmm…..
Again some people bash out against Iphone and say hallelujah to the SG2. I don’t, to neither side.
But my personal view is that Apple has created a product that attracts tens of millions of people. And I believe that the majority of the buyers of the Iphone just want a telephone simple in use, and to show to the outside world that they are trendy.
Not everyone phone users are interested in flashing and tweaking, like us reading XDA. If people want to by a quite expensive Iphone, let them do so. I have been doing it and maybe I will do it again someday, but not the 4S.
Right now there is two SG2 and one TAB 10.1 in our family. And I’m not impressed by the build quality of none of them. On the SG2’s, random boots, loose home button. And the TAB with Newtons rings that has to be put in the freezer for 5-10 minutes, as a temporary fix. Never have I been using the freezer for anything other than food and ice cubes, before now.
Well, they have been sent for repair today, and I hope the TAB shelf in the freezer can be used for other things when I get it back.
So why did I buy Samsung you ask? Well, I bought these units within 45 days and I didn’t know it would be so many problems with 3/ 3 Samsung products. But I give Samsung a chance and hope they will be okay when I get them back.
Some years ago, in a social event, I met the national sales director of a Japanese car company. After a few drinks he started bashing out on the quality of the cars on his biggest competitors.
One other person asked this sales director if he regularly test drive these competitors’ cars? The sales director hesitated a few seconds before he answered ‘Yes of course!’ . But no one believed his answer, and I think almost everyone present didn’t feel he was credible.
And neither do I, when people are bashing out on products that never have been in their hands.
Love my sgs2 but it appears graphics wise the 4gs will trump the s2, based off how well the ipad 2 performs. Not something I care about that much because I don't use it for games or graphic intensive operations, but I know some people on here will secretively wish for that kind of performance.
If those battery stats are right it looks like it will trump the s2 in that department.
Although I wouldn't personally own an iphone, mainly due to the hype being over the top, anyone denying this will challenge or beat the s2 in a few departments is in plainn denial.
A lot of iphone users had already bought the thing before knowing what the specs were... Mmmm no comment. Mind you I'm sure there are some samsung users out there that would do the same
Hmm that's pretty boring because actually nothing changed (for my kind of user at least) : iOS is still the best platform for games and ease of use, Android is still the best platform in terms of actual choice of the hardware and freedom of use. An iPhone will work the exact same way with a dual core processor, the only thing that may change is the quality of the games, which i do not care about since i don't care about gaming on a phone in general.
It's also kind of interesting to see this pathetic attempt of Apple at convincing iFans that they don't need a bigger screen, good luck with that...no wonder Apple shares dropped by a nice 4% just a couple minutes after the 4s was revealed

lol sorry but if you want a high quality tablet, this is not for you.. this is a great tablet to jump into the tablet game because of the low-cost but comeon now... its not that powerful..
Hahaha these little crap tablets give Android a bad name! They're saturating the market with low-price, low functionality tablets that virtually NO ONE wants. When it comes to cheap tablets I'm pretty sure the Fire and the Nook will be king (but mostly the Fire), so there's really no reason to have these things. They give ifans a reason to bash Android IMO.
This actually looks better than the Fire to me. I might be a buyer for my 7 year old...Why not? It doesn't look terrible. Wonder if it is completely 100% lead-free? lol
I'm cool with this. Cheaper tablets give us more options. There are people who basically just want a tablet to read ebooks and play the occasional angry birds. That's what's Android all about. Having options.
LOL, looks like asus slacked for too long and got beat by some cheap china tablet company...
You snooze, U loose!
Ohwell, atleast when the prime finally does come out it will have ICS hopefully right around the corner, and hopefully it will make the diffrence we all been looking for.

What answer do you expect from a sub-forum full of people wanting the Prime?
Get the Prime if you have the money to spend.
I sold my transformer to get a prime. Go for it. If you are spending a bunch of money, might as well get the latest and greatest which won't get outdated as quick as the older model.
Sent from my Galaxy S2
I have to suggest the Prime. Not only do I love mine, it's much more future-proof. With Tegra-3 graphics being as awesome as they are, I'm sure more and more games will be made for them. Of course, as happened with Tegra 2, most phones will end up with it, and eventually a large part of the Android community will have a Tegra 3 device. At that point, support for Tegra 2 will slowly dwindle as people want bigger and prettier games. Getting a Tegra 3 device now will guarantee you can enjoy every software title, at least until something bigger and badder comes out, like Tegra 4, which we can only speculate a release for. Safe to assume Tegra 3 will keep you in the loop for quite a while, though.
Plus, the Prime is sexy. Really sexy.

At this point, anyone buying a new Wi-Fi tablet should get the Prime. With ICS coming out and higher performance chips you'll start to see applications introduced and optimized for it that won't run or will run poorly on older devices. The only question you should ask yourself is it worth waiting to see the timing and availibility of new tablets announced at CES on January 11th.
I think you should donate it to your favorite charity, or the nearest soup kitchen. The best present is one that helps someone in need...
..and if you believe that...

Thats a very beautiful Asian woman!
To op, get the 32gb prime n you still have about $100 left over. its more than worth it.
I really debated this for myself as well. I wasn't sure i liked the colors or the thinness of the Prime while I held the tf101. I ended up with the TFP and when I opened the box I was more than pleased but still not 100% sure about the Prime. That was Wednesday. Now after a few days with this thing I could not be happier. I have barely set it down. My laptop spends its days and nights silently weeping in the corner or being consoled by my non-tablet-owning wife.

Not really. You're looking at make-up, good lighting, and a lot of 'shop.

It looks awesome! The only thing I see that I don't like is the battery. "Up to 100 hours standby time" is only 4 days without any use at all... so more than likely, it'll be a "charge every day" appliance, again.

Yeah the jury is still out on that one, good thing is they're taking suggestions on for final design. I drive a van all day so handsfree answering etc is great and when I'm delivering shopping to the 17th floor it's great to have a phone with me. Only time will tell but funding is going great.

Looks promising. Someone sbould compare it to the Neptune pine. I am convinced that I want a standalone smartwatch not one tethered

I'll add both to my smartwatch comparison website when they officially release, with all the specs and stuff.
My thing is they are evading any question about the thickness, which means it will probably be THICK. Their videos seem to confirm that.
This looks very promising. Videos of physical units is great, I believe they are good on their promise. At $200, sure, I've backed a developers unit. I'll report back in October =P

I think IP67 certification is main difference and jellybean over ICS. But Neptune 's got an extra 1inch on screen size.

Just to reply to your question in that other thread (makes no sense for me to register in there just for that) - why Pebble got 10M while Omate only at 350k? Pebble was an early bird and had a great marketing. I personally use MetaWatch (STRATA and FRAME) and can't imagine going through a day without a smart watch since my Note 2 stays in my pocket and I get all my notifications right on my wrist (thanks to Augments Pro app), I never miss calls anymore, I can control my UE Boom speaker while in the pool under water from my watch, and so on MetaWatch was one of the first out of the door, but poor marketing and software support brought it down. On the other hand Pebble had a brilliant marketing technique, raised a lot of money, sold a lot of units which enables them to hire more software developers or enjoy benefits of free apps developed by others. What came next? Agent SmartWatch (wireless charging), Kreyos Meteor (gesture control), HOT Smartwatch (talking by placing your hand to your ear), and so on. Now market is saturated with all kinds of smartwatches, people are getting confused. Oh, and on top of that - on Sept 4th Samsung will announce Gear (and that is confirmed by Samsung, also with Note 3 introduction). Plus, quite possible on Sept 10th Apple could announce iWatch.
Omate kickstarter campaign has a very bad timing being right in the middle of all these smartwatch announcements. Plain and simple. Especially anticipation of Samsung Gear which took away a lot of momentum from Omate.
But with all that said, I think the idea of Omate is fantastic. There is no room for a phone when you go to the gym or biking or active outdoors. That would be a perfect solution to take out sim card from your phone and load into a watch while leaving my Note 2 at home. Or continue using it tethered at work where it will function as a regular smart watch.
One thing I'm confused, on their kickstarter page they say "3G mono" while you have it listed in your post as 3G CDMA. I'm on Verizon, and do need CDMA. Hopefully it will support it.

I have 2 numbers but only change them about when I'm nrarlyvout of mobile data, but this watch means I can use both at the sometime using watch for emailing, texting and calls and my Z Ultra for gaming reading etc.

I am drooling for this watch.
But i hope they change the design. Like the motoactv i'd like a detachable watch face for bike mounts, arm strap etc.
The 3G CDMA is a real spec? Most of the newer smartwatches seem to support GSM.

The specs in the OP are all GSM, from what I can see. 3G is not just CDMA.
Backed the Dev version.
Received the flashing tool, drivers, and a SN Write Tool earlier today, Which also included an NDA Agreement.
