For a keyboard like SwiftKey it is also strongly related to lookups in the language packs. If you disable them you'll probably see a speedup. However, that is not worth much since that would render the keyboard useless.
But since the language packs are stored on the SD card, what you could try is to change your card to a faster one (although I reckon proper caching should have taken care of that? but maybe... [also you could try changing the cache-size for the SD card])

Hi guys, my Hero encounter the touch screen doesn't work periodically, sometimes it became no response totally, after a few days ,it works well, I think this may be caused by the static electricity, Is there anyone have the same problem? do you guys have some methods to solve it ? Do I need to change a new touch screen?
well i droped mine today and now i have the same issue but the strange part is that i just had a replacement screen and there are no cracks or anything else, so you can't see that it felt out of my pocket.
Hello I had the same problem.
I installed several versions of Android and nbh files.
The problem occurred with versions nbh for Froy version of Android.
As I had saved the versions that were tested. I tried to install previous versions where I knew the touchscreen worked correctly. In my tests with this file to the touch screen work again: kaisimg-panel2-320-24-05-10.nbh
I hope that helped
when you say not working properly, what do you mean? the a and l letters on the keyboard dont register unless I press the screen really HARD. so that aria of the screen is unresponsive
what does one do with kaisimg-panel2-320-24-05-10.nbh?

I got the same problem!! whats the fix? screen replacement? cord lose? what what ?!?!?!!?
This has been discussed a milion times in the General forum.
Screen problems happen to a lot of Hero owners. Just send it to HTC fir a new screen. Don't forget to install an original ruu-rom on it.

I'm over the warranty. How can I fix it? does the screen need replacing? is the cord detached? whats the common issue of this happening? Whenever I touch my screen the notification bar drops down all the time.
i just purchased a old htc hero selling my spice mi300 i usualy get thr same problem in the lower part of thr screen may be i have to.just live with it as there is no warranty or insurance
I have had the same problem.
Mine is fixed within the warranty period.
But i have read something about failing Digitizers.
Maybe that's the problem?
See this topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-595485.html
You can buy them at Ebay just look for HTC Hero digitizer.
Below you find a link to the service manual:

If your phone is out of warranty
Maybe you can fix it by yourself
Hey every one,
iv bin watching the latest DEV of all the Desire HD ROMs and Z ROMs and I have started to notice a trend here so I looked back and saw that most ROMs are set to the HD2 first.
So my question is why the HD2 why is it always first, I'm thinking about getting one just for this reason that it gets all the test all the ROMs first because its gets them.
and also what makes it to easy to port it over to that device?
i think its because of his power and screen
uhm maybe because its always at the list as Top device? and alot ppl have the HD2 or make stuff for it. and when other people found something they want to bring it under the most people?
( and HD2 is still after almost 1 year an Top Device)
Cool thank you guys for the quick reply,
I was also doing a little more research and found some stuff its it also because you can just put it on your SD card, and just boot it with no effects to your phone. or do some people hard flash it to their phone?

what im saying is that`s every time a ROM gets dumped it gets ported to the HD2 before all the other ones. i would like to buy a HD2 so i could use the ROMs first.
hahaha.. i love how everyone envy the hd2 now. love it.
biggest screen beside samsung tab also powerful cpu same as the new htc devices.
the HD2 is crazy phone.
im really looking forward to getting one
Because HTC HD2 is the father of every phone
Edit: I love my HTC HD2. Thanks.
No android roms yet. All you gotta do is copy the file to your SD card and your good to go. Given you have hardspl which only takes 3 mouse clicks to install.

Hey a quick question, has anyone been able to get the HTC keyboard mod to work on their S3 properly? On mine it's really small, pushed up against the left of the keyboard area rather than filling the whole keyboard area which is quite annoying >_> lol
Been so used to that keyboard now it's pretty much perfect, hate the ICS keyboard that doesn't even have the punctuation on the letters section of the keyboard...
Thanks for your time.
Try the HTC IME mod keyboard.
Don't look at the crappy themes on the dev page, you can make your own and I'm fairly sure you can have the stock theme too.
That's the one I have, problem is on the S3 it seems the keyboard height is fixed, so it shrinks the HTC keyboard down and doesn't widen it >_>
Get Smart Keyboard Pro from the Play Store, it looks the same but is more configurable.
Same Issue

I have exactly the same issue. I have also tried the suggestion Play Store download, and it just isn't as good or as user friendly as the HTC mod. I haven't even had my S3 delivered yet and I am concerned that I will be destined to not have a decent keypad. My first smartphone and experience with touch screen was the Hero, and I got used to the awesome phonepad style keyboard. HELP! (Please!)
To be really honest, Swiftkey 3 is better than the HTC keyboard... I'd just use that.

I'm in the exact same situation. Came from HTC Desire and really miss the HTC Sense IME. Especially, the T9 (keypad) version. Been looking around without finding a keyboard to match yet. Please update the thread if you find one and I'll do the same.
I really hope someone with the right skills will get this working. It sounds like a skin/theme problem of some sort...
Bumping this to see if there's any updates.
Getting s3 today but really want the HTC keyboard to work!

That's exactly what I was looking for for my S3. I temporarily switched from HTC and Samsung stock keyboard is unacteptable for me. Big thanks.
I'm loving this phone so far. the one qualm (and it's a big qualm) i have with it is the samsung keyboard. It's terrible. I came from pure android (nexus s) and would have stuck with nexus, but i needed a new phone and couldn't wait until november.
problems (i'm going to refer to pure android as "ICS"):
1) I hit the b a lot instead of space. especially on this bigger phone. When i upgraded to ICS on nexus s, the ICS keyboard fixed that problem (which i used to do in GB also)
2) i hate the autocorrect. For instance, if you're typing a word that the system doesn't know, it AUTOMATICALLY changes it for you. Try typing the word "server" if you stop at "ser," it changes the word to "user." in ICS, this was an option that you could press or press space and it would change it for you, but here, it automatically changes it. What if the word I want is "ser"? then i always have to pick it??
I have a million issues with the Samsung Keyboard. If anyone knows how to get ICS keyboard, please tell me. Or the keyboard options to turn that setting off. I've already gone through one by one every option in settings...
Other thoughts on the keyboard?
Thanks!!
Go to the PlayStore and Download the stock ICS keyboard, takes literally 10 seconds Beauty of Android, you dont like it, change it
It doesn't change your words, look down the predictive bar .there is the word you are writing .. far to the left..you see? If you look at text input area, it changes.just continue to write your word and the keyboard will adopt

Thanks guys!! I found the ics keyboard in the market. Now I'm back to speed typing. Now this phone is just one step closer to being perfect.

You need to remove the physical button, put a pure ics rom Google OTA upgradeable put a unlock/relockable bootloader and then you have the perfect phone..
Erm oops the perfect phone already exists.. Sell that get a Nexus and save some bucks xD..
Hehe cheers
Nexus Cm9 + Franco
haha yeah. I couldn't hold out for the nexus in November because I just moved to hk and I need a phone with data. And it's cheaper to get a phone than to get a contract without a phone. Otherwise I would still be rocking the nexus s.
And yes. That physical home button is actually annoying as hell. But the screen is gorgeous, it's shaped like the galaxy nexus, and it's quad core. Sweet. Although my love for pure android might force me to buy the nexus line when the new Gen comes out in Nov. Until then, I am very happy with this phone.

Hey People, this is my first thread. I have a htc desire x and I recently updated to android jellybean and saw that the notification bar is now transparent (I am not 100% sure if it was transparent before updating). The problem I see with it is that when I slide to left or right on my phone, the picture moves as it should on the screen but the part in the notification bar remains the same. In other words, say I have a straight line in the middle of the picture and I swipe to the left to go to the next screen on the right side, the line will have moved a little to the left on the wallpaper but will remain in the center in the task bar. I hope this is a good enough explanation. I know this isn't major, but for some reason it's quite irritating to me and I was wondering if it's a common bug on android jellybean on all devices, or perhaps exclusively to the htc desire x, or if it is, in fact, only my phone doing this. Thanks guys.
Its a common bug. All people with jelly bean update have this. And wait around, you'll get a fix soon

Thanks for your speedy reply. I'm glad to hear it will be fixed. Have a nice day, man. :good:
I reported this to HTC and they were acting like it's an issue with my phone after sending them screenshots from both complaining users and my own phone and it kinda pissed me off.
They started that restore your phone, boot it in safe mode, take it to an official HTC retailer to get it reflashed bull and after doing everything they said and not receiving a fix they told me to reflash it again (I kinda lost it at this point and got aggressive).
Would you guys mind reporting this because the more reports they have the higher the chances we have that the issue will get to the development team.
Strange

This is rather strange, they usually help me out without any problems. I have not reported this because it's not a big issue to me. However, I do believe, for some reason, that the glitch came with jellybean and not with the new sense version. I have no real reason for this, it's just my gut. I will see what happens if I report this, when I have the time.
please solve the bugs

Any news on the update?
Hi all,
So it's been almost 9 months since the JellyBean update and still, where I live(Romania) hasn't been yet released an update to fix the sound and status bar problems! Found out that in India, they released it but not here in Europe! Any news? Or HTC dropped development on HTC Desire X?!
Looks like you have bad luck... Try installing a custom ROM, they have got the sound fix included...
