Hi, does anyone else having the same issue as what I'm having? Youtube quality isn't as good on this device compared to galaxy note 3 or HTC one.
Videos play smoothly but the quality and the sharpness of the videos seems to blur and not as sharp and I already set the youtube setting to HD.

Download boat browser or another preferred browser with support for flash and watch 1080p without a problem.
If that's not an option, get the youtube mod allowing for 1080p streaming. Although I couldn't get it to work it might get fixed soon.
Turn off X-reality also, it kills YouTube.

Here's the mod that I've tried, unfortunately 1080p seems broken as of now.

I already knew that option but its not as easy as playing via app. Anyway thanks for your suggestion
I tried Viral Youtube app and its quality even though max it support 720p as of now(earlier used to support 1080p) is really fantastic.I find it much better than default youtube app.

Anyone know if it will work? I pulled one from an Evo ROM, but it said it couldn't be installed. Would be nice to have it play in the highest def as default.
I used the one from cm 5.0.8. Worked like a charm. My girl's phone isn't rooted & she just installed the apk & upgraded the youtube app using astro
Isn't the I've from 5.0.8 just the regular one?

Right, my bad. I forgot I modded cm5.0.8 myself to have that in there from the start. Sorry about that, here's the apk I used
Isn't the factoryyoutube app on the vibrant hd? When I watch a video I click the menu soft key and scroll to the bottom and click watch in high quality.

The apk I posted has the option in the settings to set high quality as default
But When i watch Videos on the youtube app on my vibrant i go to settings and it says watch in normal quality that means it's already on high quality right?

I'm not sure. Are you using wifi? If you are in wifi, it will default to high quality. But this option will make it default to high quality if you are on edge, 3g or wifi

Thanks for the find. Works fine on my vibrant.
HQ video selection.
That would be nice. It's annoying having to go to settings and choose high quality ever time I watch a video. I get great 3g in my area so I rarely use wifi

Full flash is very useful on youtube because most videos are absent from the app and mobile version
Flash player version 10.3 was also posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1309406
For me 10.2 and 10.3 work the same, I can't change the resolution to lower it. Whjen using 360p the video has a very low framerate, but at least audio works well!
Is anyone able to set the resolution to 240p? Even going to "playback settings" and setting quality to low didn't help.
Nice. It finally works fine on my device.
Thanks!!! It's great!!!!!
10.3 increases compatibility. Now I can play BBC iPlayer content and video feeds on BBC News. Also, the BBC iPlayer app now displays the first frame of video - on 10.2 it didn't even get that far.
Gotta get this THx for sharing
Flash 10.3 is available as well for ARMv6

I tested it and It plays ad too. Youtube and bbc iplayer. Even with sound

ofc when it's optimized and has some additional features. It was developed by Google at least
Here are a couple videos I found to really show off the screen.
Trailer for The Hobbit in 4k
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t56ooXC9VmY
ST. JOHN / U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS in 4K - This one is really amazing. Anyone who says 1080p is pointless on a 5 inch screen needs to watch this. It almost looks 3D

you can use tubemate to download at 1920x1080 resolution. I use it for longer videos because even on my 50mbps home connection, youtube doesn't buffer worth sh!t.
Tubemate isn't in the market, but is on several other sites including getjar and amazon appstore.

Hi,
I found that the youtube preinstalled app with latest updates limits me to view videos with max resolution of 360p. I have D620r with v10g OS. I know that when I bought the phone I could watch 480p videos but idk what i've done. I tried uninstalling the updates but still nothing. I wonder if the v10g update broke this
Are you sure that you can't watch videos at 480p even if you could watch those specific videos in the past?

Yes. I'm very sure.
If your device is rooted, download Xposed framework and download the module YouTube for it which will make you able to put the default pane shown when app started and also force a max default resolution

Updated to latest version, already had root and xposed but the experimental features for resolution don't work tried 720p 1080p 2160p but it still remains 360p. Also activated override compatibility checks. What now?

Wait? You wanted it to stick 480p right? Then set it to that. this is just a tool I use to make it stick to it, and not degrade in quality. Don't put it higher than the hardware allows

I can choose 480p im YouTube on my stock V10F.
I raised my g2m res to 720p with a script, so it goes while booting, so all apps recognize as native resolution, because it changes before system starts, and then this res becomes available to use in YouTube.
