Make your 'own' KitKat-ROM today! - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Themes and Apps

Some interesting reading http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2515305:good:

Well. Then go ahead and try.
It isn't just a KitKat ROM. This is basically the method on how to build CM from source. This method works for all CyanogenMods l.

Im fact. I had a pc with dual boot. But it crashed and I don't have a new one yet.
So gotta leave it to somebody else...

Sorry LMAO that was epic.

So... If i execute those lines in an Ubuntu 13.04 x32 laptop with 1GB RAM, and an Intel Atom with 1.7Ghz will it explode or melt or something?
Since i have installed Ubuntu since sunday (Tired of Windows and just to have a look into something new), i've been pretty curious about building a ROM :3 (Anyways it seems complicated as f**k xD). Just execute those lines, wait for the processes and the ROM is now built? For our device?
Just want to give it a try... Though it looks pretty exciting to build CM11 from source.

You can build it if everything is fixed. Team Canjica is working on it. You will get lots of problems if you do it now, like we had on begining of CM10/10.1/10.2 making.
This guide is just "How tu build" as I understand. Not how to port to our phone.

Yeah, this morning I had to stay at home because I feel sick. Then I had to download Froyo AOSP sources to compare some stuff and then I went on downloading sources page in sources.android or whatever. Then I found:
Code:
repo init -u https://android.googlesource.com/platform/manifest -b [B]android-4.0.1_r1[/B]
And I was like WTF? But then I read that motherf*cking post from JBQ which says we need a super-powerful computer to build Android 4.0. I have a Single-core 2,24 GHz with half gig of ram! Guess will take about 7 entire days, too bad the PC is not only mine. Will figure out something And I'm already downloading sources for you guys

Well sweet there is that new technology that allows two phones to wirelessly transmit data, NVC or something with a N,which doesn't narrow choices..I'm not sure if this new technology per described in the Google nexus phone is standard software for newer phones or is a support feature added to ICS to all phones....I can't wait for all of it though, looks very interesting...I wonder what jellybean will bring to the table

Project AOSP! Let's do it!

Hi gang.
Here is an idea brewing in my head. I know it will spin your head. I am embarking on a mission to bring AOSP to this forsaken land... Fair warning. As you see, there is no "recognized developer" tag underneath my name and for a good reason, I am not one! An average newb here as far as AOSP deving is concerned. I do know the very basics, I did build a couple AOSP builds for the Dinc2 and Transformer prime, but that was trivial as those devices were already supported. This device is not. So, I'll need to figure out how to first setup the environment for this and then learn to make a kernel from the source HTC has (if they released it that is).
So, anyone here who can point me to the right direction to kick this off!?
This thread is intended to be a platform for all those interested in helping bring AOSP to our device. Any and all helpful suggestions in this regard will be appreciated!
Hell yeah! I'm pretty sure if we all pull together we can get something cooking. I was wondering though obviously we aren't on jelly bean. Would it be easier to build an ics cm9 and then add select features like the lock screen, camera, animations etc?

Dunno. I was actually thinking if it is better to build Jellybean 4.1 rather than the latest and greatest 4.2.1. But if there aren't significant changes, may be we can pull off a 4.2 build. I just want to first learn to compile AOSP so that it even boots. I believe I need to mod files to build it for our environment... I wonder where I can learn this stuff..
Nits, Andy, help please!
My new laptop is running Windows 8 and I believe it will be a PITA to get Linux running natively on that due to the UEFI fiasco... I wonder if VM linux will be as fast as native... If not, I'll use my current machine to build and use the new one to due my regular stuff...

[Q] What are the interest of XDA developers to get their hands on Ubuntu OS?

First of all. I'm not a developer. I consider myself a power user.
With that said. I do love the idea of try Ubuntu OS on my SGS3. And when Canonical announced that they are bringing their Ubuntu to mobile phones, I became very excited.
My question is this. How many developers and power users are interested in getting their hands on Ubuntu OS to try to get it working on the devices they own? As an individual, I have no power to go to Canonical and tell them that I am interested in Ubuntu OS for mobile phones. However if we, as the XDA family of users and developers, among the biggest of hobby developers out there, and probably one of the biggest Beta testers you could find, connected with Canonical, there is a possibility that we could get their attention.
I for one would love to see an image for the S3. As a dual boot or just plain Ubuntu on the phone.
So here is my proposal. I would like to create a petition for XDA to contact Canonical on behalf of the members of the XDA forums, to offer our services to Canonical as Beta testers and to make Ubuntu compatible with our devices that we have in our possession. Android is great, but we still don't have the full power of our devices the way we are individuals are yearning for. Ubuntu to me is representing that freedom.
Your comments and thoughts are appreciative.
Hans-Erik
Count me in! I would like to port Ubuntu for my Xperia Neo xD
I'd love a port of some sort - would be willing to report bugs etc.
Well from what I have read Galaxy Nexus users will be able to install Ubuntu for Android on their device in the coming weeks, and with Ubuntus schedule I am guessing late February. Once the installer is out it will only be a matter of time before there are unofficial images for the SGS3 etc.
One thing I am looking forward to exploring is the porting of Android APKs to the Ububtu software.

I think the longest period ive ever used Ubuntu after installing it was for a month after which i started getting frustrated due to the unavailability of certain programs that i used..not sure what release it was but it was at around the same time the iPhone 3G was released. I could get iTunes to work on it but it had to run through Wine and even then i had issues with the itunes recognizing the phone. Honestly, i felt like i had to go through 10 different steps to perform a simple task whereas on the windows it was as easy as installing and just running the program..quick and very convenient. But im sure those issues have long been tackled so ill still give it another try..i hope this time it would be worth it. Thanks for the input.

Not that I think it will make much a difference, but I did sign your petition. Source will be out soon and our guys over here will be all over it. I miss Ubuntu dearly, my companies software will only run from windows and worse yet internet explorer, so I cant wait for a couple of our awesome devs. to take a crack at this.
Hopefully Ubuntu for phones will make an even bigger hit than android and get more Americans running Ubuntu. Then maybe big corporations and companies will stop forcing its employees to use Micro$oft products.
