I have S2 from orange, I can't decide whether my phone is Sim locked or not!
I was running the Sim normally before and then my phone got some problem, I flashed the latest ICS 4.0.4 (Rooted with Siyah Kernel). Now when I insert the sim it gives No Service! I have tried to insert other Sim but all give the same No service problem.
At the time of inserting sim it doesn't ask for unlock code and I can't determine the state of unlock from *#Simlock#
Thanks for helping
Check your IMEI. If its one particular Imei number, then your Efs is corrupted.
What do you mean by particular IMEI?
MY IMEI is 35884XXXXXXXXXX
And its 15 digit ... what does it mean?

Particular IMEI means the IMEI has repeating numbers. At least that's what I think.

Nop it doesn't have any repeating numbers in it
If its from Orange then it will be locked to them. In about phone in settings are you showing a baseband version?
Sent from my GT-I9100
The baseband is I9100XXLQ6
Before ICS I was running Gingerbread and the Sim was running in it normally

By 'particular' Imei I meant one particular Imei number which you get when efs gets corrupted. Unfortunately I dont know which number exactly that is... :/

Hi,
I Have sky vega a800s . I rooted my device with this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1567407
My question is How Can I Repair or change phone's imei number?
Thanks.
You cannot repair or change your imei number. It is like the serial number. Look at the original box of your phone. The imei on box and phone will be same

Sp, here I am. I updated to MG5 and my modem got modified. No other modem works and I know it why. The question is, Can I restore my efs if I use a backup of my friend's efs? Will that cause any damage to my phone?
From what I learned about efs from another topic pertaining to lg optimus g ( I'm sure its the same for all devices ). The efs stores your imei number and such. But other users may correct me if I'm wrong. So using your friends efs wouldn't help at all. I'm a noob to all of this still.

Edit: gotta love autocorrect.

efs does store our imei details. Pre MG4 modems had a different efs format. The format was kinda updated by samsung on MG4 and MG5 roms. I have no signals on any 4.2.2 roms either. However, an older backup may restore the previous format, no matter if the backup was made on someone else's device. Right?
I honestly couldn't tell you bub. I don't want to say go ahead and do it and then something else messes up.. I would wait for a reply from a much more knowledgeable person. Sorry that I couldn't help.

Your friends efs back up has your friends' imei , which if you use would be modifying your imei , which is kinda unnesessary. If you have your own efs back up just restore it.
sent from the state where Marijuana is NOT illegal !
Just go back to an EMGx modem.
you need an efs backup before installed mg4 or mg5 rom. for now no way to go back old efs format without a backup. and another efs file doesnt work with your phone. efs file contains encrypted imei and something phone information for detecting craking

I assume that you are using CWM.
1.Flash Stock Rom
2.Repair IMEI via MTK Droid Root Tools
3.Install TWRP. (CWM wipes IMEI for some users.)
I also formated my chd with flash tool but not able to restore my imei
and also my phone is not detecting any simcard
no signal
pls help me
I have a chd....I just bought a new one....after seeing the problems faced by you guyz.....I wanna keep my imei intact while flashing any rom...sumone give me detailed instructions on what to do....pleeze...my old chd was busted due to an imei problem
