[Q] Unable to wipe encrypted HTC ONE - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm unable to wipe my encrypted device using TWRP. I'm running Android Revolution HD 22.0 on an HTC One. I had encrypted my device. Now whenever I try to use TWRP to wipe (so that I can upgrade Android Revolution), it fails:

How do I wipe without bricking my device?

Check if the file system is mounted in the advanced tab, or something with a similar name. I don't remember the exact name.
Hit thanks if I helped.

Thanks stkfigure.
Under "Select Partitions to Mount", I can only select "Cache" and "System" ("Data" and USB-OTG" cannot be selected).
If I select "System", and then wipe I am concerned I may brick the device because the data partition would still be encrypted. Right?

Obvio u can't wipe. Decrypt it using Windows .

Wish it was that easy... factory reset is the only way to decrypt the HTC One. But factory reset does not work because TWRP doesn't see anything to wipe

Problem fixed
Have you ticked advanced mode in settings?
AOKP 4 LYF
yeah ive tried that too. Still just wont let me tick the boxes, so i tried Uninstalling it, and reinstalling it. still nothing.
Try setting superuser to auto allow all
AOKP 4 LYF
how do i do this?
you mean like.. when superuser comes up, auto allow it? if so already done that when first booted and when i had to reinstall.
* btw i dont know if this will help, but the only thing i can actually click, is the * Download cache part. which says i need to reboot, so i try and reboot with S2E and it says superuser persmissions granted and does nothing.. go back nothings changed, says i need to reboot still, so i reboot manually. open up again, and its still the same lol. saying i need to reboot..
RIGHT at the bottom of the list,
" Moving from /cache to /sd-ext
Reboot is required! "
auto allowing is not recommended.. malicious apps may take advantage of root [which can do anything]

Running out Of Memory
Turn off phone, Remove your sdcard. Check with mini partition home edition what is your secondary filetype (ext2,3,or 4). Format to ext4, then on s2e, tick mount as ext4. Reboot and voila.

my phone is dead

I just recently rooted my samsung g s3. I tried to flash my first rom criskelo which it did not work for me, so i restored my stock rom and rebooted my phone and now it wont power on, what happened I need help in the worst way someone.
Try factory resetting the phone in recovery, wiping cache and dalvik and format /system partition. Then restore your nandroid again.
Or, instead of restoring your nandroid, just re flash the rom you downloaded.

Again try to pull out the battery for at least 10 minutes no cable should be pluged while doing this after 10 or 15 minutes plugin the battery again and try to boot to recovery not to normal system! if it boots up format /system and wipe /data and
/cache then go on try to restore your nandroid

Wipe Data, Cache and Dalvik/ART, flash a 48A or 49A based ROM (I recommend @xdabbeb 's VS985 v3.1.1), and the 35B Bootstack (again, from @xdabbeb 's ROM thread, but you need the appropriate Bootstack for any ROM you flash).
I'm not having any luck flashing. Copied the bootstack zip and the 3.1.1 zip to the SD card but now the phone will not access the SD card, only shows
apply update from external sdcard
........................................................................cache
........................................................................ADB
wipe date/factory reset
wipe cache partition
When I select update from SD card it says "E: failed to mount /sdcard (unknown error 150)"
Is there another way I should be doing this (attempted) flashing?

It doesn't sound like you're in TWRP. Select Wipe Cache from the stock-looking recovery to boot into TWRP, then wipe the things I mentioned and do the flashing.
No effect. "cache wipe complete" and still I'm in regular recovery, do not seem to be able to get to TWRP / no sd card access and that's after deleting the card, unmounting the card, remounting the card
I think I've got it, was using the wrong app to install TWRP. Now the long recovery and 'upgrading process..."
Uh oh I did something wrong.
"Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped" and I can't go any further
OK, went back to recovery and wiped everything and flashed 3.1.1 and 35B bootstack in the same flash action and it rebooted without issues so far!
OK, minor issue- it won't let me put my own ring tone in, it searches ok, allows me to select it but then just pops back to the list of crummy midi ring tones that came stock

Have you mounted the cache partition in mount menu on the main screen of twrp?
try doing that, if you still get a bootloop, then perform a clean flash of a rom.

When you boot into TWRP, there will be a button saying "Mount" (just like other buttons like install, wipe etc)
Select that, and tick the boxes saying cache and dalvik and data

Have you tried installing a rom? Flash any custom aosp rom. And tell if that works. Most probably use an sdcard to install it, or copy using mtp

Cant take full backup from TWRP

Hi, I have mate 10 lite: RNE-L21C185B142 with Nougat
I have flashed various TWRP files to get a full backup, but all fail at data, check the following screenshot
createTarkFork() process ended with ERROR: 255

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I have used an external hard drive as the OTG storage when I tried backup, and also tried another time
with a 32 GB SD card but both show same error at same point. There is no addon.d in my system folder
and also I have tried with enabling/disabling compression when taking backup. And I did unchecked data partition
from Mount in TWRP.
When I go to reboot it shows another error at the end of above screenshot in red color:
E:Error making /data/app/me.twrp.twrpapp-1 directory: permission denied
I have attached both recovery logs. Please suggest what shall I do
It's because of encrypted data, you have to untick data
It also happened to me. It was the twin app's fault. I deactivated it and now it does not give me this error.

Answer already given... It's because of encrypted data...
For details you can look at this post...

Remember... Make always a backup of your important datas from internal storage to an external SD Card or to your PC
