[Q] S4 Bluetooth issues after factory reset (HELP) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hei guys! So I recently bougth myself an Alpine car Stereo with bluetooth. It worked like a charm with my GS4 connected, everything was great until I recently found out I should do a factory reset to wipe the phone. I had too much junk on it. So I did, and I spent hours customizing it again the way I want my phone to be. When I sat myself behind the wheel and connected to the car I noticed the music is interrupted with lag spikes every 4th second. Its annoying as hell! Ive tried updating it in kies and upgrading the firmware, still no change. Ive tried hard reset and cache wipe but that wont even work. I dont know what to do.. this really sucks..
It is a problem with the phone and not the Alpine, Ive tried other phones and they work great. So its the S4. I suspect it is a driver-issue but when I google it I get nothing. Seems like no one is in the same boat as me.
To mention I run the official 4.2.2 version and I cant get it to update. Ive downlaoded the 4.3 android version from sammobile but I dont know how to flash my phone to it with kies. I think maybe that could help. But other than that I have no clue!
Any help guys?

try
try to connect other bluetooth ht....
or
wip your dalwik cache and bettery stats....
and try this amazing app on your s4...

Help! No sound from internal speaker?

This just started randomly the other day... When I call people or people call me, I can't hear the phone dialing, the call connects and the person on the other line can hear me, but I can't hear anything they are saying. Everything works fine if i put it into speaker mode...
I also tried playing music from my mp3 player, no sound... the sound works when i get txt messages and things however, just not when in call or when trying to play mp3z via the speaker.
What could be wrong????
did you try increasing the volume?
yes... ive tried everything I can think of. The phone thinks its in headset mode even though I have nothing plugged in. I've tried plugging in headphones in and out, but it still doesnt work.

The first thing I would do is update your ROM! You don't have to go JB but at least flash an ICS 4.0.4 ROM. There were quite a few changes from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4.
If your sound issue is still there with a new ROM, then we can address it.

OP, you could try to ODIN to stock firmware. If it doesn't help probably the part itself (the earpiece flex cable) is damaged and needs to be replaced. Fortunately, this part only cost 3.91$ on ebay and is easy to replace. (IF you don't have warranty, otherwise just use the warranty).
Also, please check do the following parts work : headphone jack, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor. Because those parts are on the same flex cable as the earpiece.
inverted speaker
i don t no if is any diference.. but i have download gaps and cyanogen.. (before i have install ics passion) i install everything and everything thing seems to be perfect except the same problem.. external speaker only work if plug in my headphones. video sound not work i think calls is in the same.
my android version now is 4.1.1.. i think is the lastest
version of cyanogen is 10 nightly.
i don´t no much more to do.. any help. thanks!!

this problem happen after i root my phone or in the process.. so i think it is strange that cable is dead.. i think after making something at odin, volume keys have changed ( up is down and down is up)
Download and flash a different rom and of course factory reset and format system is important. To the other guy with inverted volume keys, you flashed another devices kernel and/or rom lol.Our phones are Vibrants/t959
Inverted keys
can you tell what rom or kernel should i download?? because if cant find it. thanks!

Did you use Odin to get back to stock?
If not please do so using this guide and files. Where it says step 1. Return to JFD
After that you can get clockworkmod recovery, not Samsung recovery. This guide explains how to do this as well. Once you get this done we can get you set with a new ROM.

Thanks for the help and waiting for new instructions
Reboot your phone into recovery and factory reset and most importantly format system. It's in mounts and storage. Then reflash that passion rom you have. Just for kicks, after it completed reflashing, go to the option called reboot recovery and then do a factory and system wipe again and reflash...You shouldn't have sooo many issues.

[Q] Phone Freezes on Touch-Screen Firmware Update!!!

I punched in this code: *#*#2663#*#* to update the firmware for my touch-screen and touch-key.
When I hit "Touch Key FW update" it updated really fast and everything was great!
When I hit "TSO FW update" is said "Now Updating... Warning! Do not turn off!" And it STAYED THERE FROZEN...
It said "Do not turn off!" So I left it until the battery died!
Then I plugged it in to charge it, and now the back button and menu button BOTH don't work at all! I tried two more times to "TSP FW Update" but it's totally permenantly frozen!
I tried flashing the stock firmware!
I can't get to the menu to do "factory reset!"
What do I do??
Have you tried using a USB jig and reloading firmware using Odin?

I have completely reloaded the firmware twice since then from a stock rom. I used Odin for it. My operating system works fine, generally, but the menu and back keys will not work.
But, are you saying that I can use Odin to specifically reload the TSP firmware? Because I haven't done that. If that's what you're saying, do you know where I can get TSP firmware?

Never heard of that and you dont need a uSB jig anyway as you are loading firmware ok .
I would download correct stock firmware .
Clean Slate for those that balls up the firmware .Or need to return to service or decide if its hardware/firmware problem .
Backup data first if phone is working .
Boot CWM recovery
Mounts and Storage
Format cache data system sd card .
Remove battery
Boot to download mode
Open Odin
Install correct stock firmware .
Still problems use usb jig to set rom counter to zero if rooted or custom roms used ..
Return to service centre .

Hi,
So this issue has been fixed??
Hi all. Well... It happened to me too. I followed an advice to remove 4.3 lag by updating this, and lost all touch.
The screen won't even turn on now, but I know the phone is powered up because when I plug in a usb cable I get the windows popup.
Wow this sucks so much and I'd like to ask for any advice if there's a fix for this. I'll try to check if I can enter recovery and reflash the rom, but I think all my buttons are dead.
---------- Post added at 06:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:59 PM ----------
Update: after maybe an hour it came back to life. I had good battery so I guess it was downloading/updating stuff, during which I had no control of the phone.
As far as the experience enjoyment, I give it a 2/10, would not do again.
So it was in that "Now Updating... Warning! Do not turn off!" mode for a hour and after that all was normal again? Is the wakeup problem solved with that?

Hi there pattmayne and particularly anyone still getting mileage from their GT-I9000M,
I had this issue with Galaxy S Vibrant (North America) - GT-I9000M (the M is significant). I thought I would explore the *#2663# option and hey, why not update everything while I am there. I lost the use of my Menu and Back soft buttons and no amount of flashing or factory resetting seemed to help.
I found a promising solution on an obscure board (to me : forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2181386) as follows :
- Run the TSP FW update,
- Although it may appear to be stuck, wait a good number of minutes to be sure it has done what it needs to do,
- Interrupt the « update » specifically by removing the battery,
- [wait a few seconds for memory to discharge],
- Insert the battery, start up again, and run the other update, TS FW,
- Voila !
In order to access the special code, I had to flash back to stock and for some reason, I decided to flash back to Froyo instead of Gingerbread. The result being that from 2.2-Froyo, the TSP FW update actually worked, so I did not have to bother with pulling the battery. I am very happy to have my phone back in one piece !
I much prefer Heimdall over Odin, however I did have to do some research to find a decent Heimdall tutorial.
You should be able to find the stock files for Froyo by searching for GT_I9000M_UGJK3_UGJK3_BMCJK3.
If you can't, ping me and I will get around to providing a full write-up on how to mod your GT-I9000M (with many thanks to those that have gone before me).
Hi, i have more or less the same problem with my Galaxy S4 GT I9505. After updating to lollipop (5.0.1) the back and menu buttons were not working anymore so i started searching for some solutions, and i saw the updating touchscreen firmware option and now the fit touch is not working anymore as the buttons. I read that making that i could have fried the LCD Touchscreen. I dont hope so, the LCD is new, I've re-flashed to 5.0.1 as a reinstall. And theres no solution. I need help, i cant afford another 65€ in other LCD

There is a 26 page long thread over on the S4 forum about exactly this problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3250132
It is doubtful that anybody on the S2 forum will be able to help you as anything that works for the S2 probably won't work on the S4......
Sorry fella, your best bet is to post in the thread I linked you to.....
Good luck.

It sounds like SDS to me, service is your only option.
The good news is that if you cannot get into download mode at service they can't check the binary counter.

1- Switch your phone off.
2- Press Volume Up + Home Button + Power.
3- When on, release power, but keep on Vol Up and Home.
4- Wipe factory settings.
5- Reboot.
6- Enjoy.
But keep informed, rooting your device increases the flash counter, which forces a message of having "custom" firmware, which can void your warranty.

But what do you mean by that "Odin" is not working? Does it recognize the device when connected by showing "COM:**"?

Not sure about that. OP stated he flashed wrong file via Odin. That probably did it.

4.4.2 Bootloop | TWRP Hangs + Phone Hangs on Samsung Custom Screen

As I have frequently done without issues, I was flashing a ROM and got stuck into some sort of bootloop.
Here are some details..
I was on a 4.4.2 KitKat ROM (Gummy Nightly) and decided to try out SlimKat 4.4.2. I wiped (advanced wiped System, Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache). I proceeded to flash the ROM and then the gapps file. Nothing out of the ordinary.. I rebooted and noticed I was at the samsung custom screen for a little longer than normal.. I didn't begin to worry too much because sometimes this screen can appear for a little bit before continuing when first booting into a fresh ROM install. Well.. quite some time passed and it became apparent that it wasn't going to go any further, I restarted the phone and consistently got stuck. I tried booting into TWRP and couldn't/can't get past the TWRP Blue Loading screen. I tried letting it sit for a long ass time (1 hour +) and same with regular rebooting at the Samsung Custom screen (1-2 hours +) with no luck or change.
I have a backup but can't get to it obviously. I'm quite frustrated and am confused/worried about attempting any drastic measures because all of the different phone versions/bootloader discussions/issues. I don't want to mess up the phone by bricking it or something when trying to flash the wrong file. I believe that right now the only thing I can do, if anything, is connecting my phone to my computer via a usb cable and running that ODIN program? I'd be inexplicably grateful and appreciative if someone can just give me some steps/instructions so that I can get my phone back up and running. I'm without a phone right now and am stressed out, so I'm hoping that I haven't made too many people upset with me if there's already somewhere this is answered. I searched but can't find someone with the exact variables my situation contains.
To Recap:
Phone will not progress past samsung custom warning screen as well as TWRP Blue Logo screen no matter how much time passes (Have let sit at either screen for hours)
Was flashing SlimKat nightly (the most recent two days ago) coming from Gummy nightly (1-12, I believe).
The samsung custom screen comes up and then the phone reboots 2 seconds later and comes up again etc..
I never had to use 'safestrap' or whatever. When I got my s4, I was able to avoid the update and was always able to flash ROMs without any worry or concerns.
Please XDA, Help me out here.. I'm completely stressed and worried and don't know where to go from here.. What files to I manually push from my computer.. I don't see how I can solve this without a computer because recovery wont load and ROM won't either
Can you plug it into a pc and get Odin to see it? If so, you can odin back to your stock firmware and start over.

Hey I am having the same problem after trying to flash the latest version of hyperdrive, and my phone got stuck on the Samsung custom screen and I'm not able to get back into recovery even. I saw what you said and plugged my phone into my pc to see if odin could see it, but odin didn't recognize it and I even tried on Kies and it wasnt able to connect to my device either. Is there anything else I can do? or any solution?
If anyone can help I would really appreciate it!
This happened to me several times when i was using Gummy a few weeks back. I just kept doing battery pulls and restarting and was eventually able to get into TWRP. Try this some more and then odin.....
I have been trying to get it working with your advice of battery pulls but no luck. I have downloaded ODIN and installed and also downloaded the two tar files (the kernel and pre-source kernels). I *think* it's good news that ODIN/computer DOES see/recognize that my s4 is connected and disconnected. The issue I'm having is that when flashing the kernel, it does the first green bar and says PASS but the phone restarts and enters the bootloop (it restarts right into the Samsung Custom screen and will stay for a minute and restart again and again)..
I feel like I'm so close but so far away... I know that there's someone reading this that may have the solution or advice to help me get on my way.
I'm still without a phone and I know that there is certainly no one else to blame for my situation then myself but regardless, I would like to see this problem solved! I have a backup on my external sd and there's obviously no way to get to it since my phone won't actually let me into the recovery. The blue TWRP screen just hangs...
Please HELP!!! what can I do????

Just picked up an mdk s4 which was doing the same thing. I odin back to stock and booted into the phone to make sure everything was good. Then I went back into odin and flashed the md2 pre release kernel then booted again into stock and proceeded to use motochopper.
You shouod have 3 files. The mdk tar file and the two kernel files. Worked like a charm for me you sure you're doing the steps correctly?

[Q] Bricked I9100 - seeking expert help

Hi Guys,
I would like to pick your brain as I have run out of options here.
My I9100T stopped worked funny way.
Phone - Samsung Galaxy S2
Model - I9100T
Sammobile official unbranded Australian ROM (XSA) for I9100:
PDA: I9100XWLSH
CSC: I9100XSALSA
MODEM: I9100XXLS9
Version: Android 4.1.2
Added: 2013-02-25
Rooted - SiyahKernel S2-v6.0beta5
1. I haven't been using this spare phone for over 1 year. I have decided to I can use it for my other simcard. Phone turned on and worked perfectly. Until I have decided that I have lot of junk in it and I want to wipe it quickly with factory reset not from CWM but from the phone menu. What happened is that phone started wiping some of the files and then screen stayed black - turned off (no vibration). Since then I wasn't able to turn on the phone as but I could charge my phone. By confidence I have found out when battery is out at least 30-60 min and when I put it back I could turn the phone on. However I wasn't able to pass "Samsung I9100" logo as logo will disappear and phone will just have black screen - switch off without vibration. I left it couple of time for half day just in case but with no result. I guess this is not eMMC brick as I had 4.1.2 ROM.
I am able to access download mode same as recovery mode. I have tried flashing brand new stock ROM from Sammobile as Kies come up with some error that my device is not supported. No luck with stock.
2. Then I have tried to restore I9100T in error with my I9505 backup in CWM. I know silly. But what can you do with human error. Restore failed and situation is pretty much same. Only difference is that I can't charge the phone now.
I have tried following things which I was able to google:
- tried different battery
- flash stock ROM from Sammobile (there is some incompatible error with I9100T model in Kies so I have downloadedd ROM from Sammobile)
- flash CM10
- wipe all Dalvik cache, cache, data, system ...
- used nuke scripts to wipe everything on the phone
- through CWM created 2nd ROM and flashed stock ROM
- swapped 2nd ROM with 1st one
- tied latest stock ROM 4.1.2 but tried old stock 4.0.3 and 4.0.4
- flashed new bootloader for I9100
- used .bin files to repartition the phone
I have no luck as phone is booting up to the recovery mode. Then when I have restarted it I can't turn on the phone unless battery will be removed for approximately 1 hour.
Second variant is that I can see android logo and bar underneath so I can see that phone is initialising new ROM but after few second phone goes off to black screen (I have tried to leave it couple of times for half day). Same thing if I will try to turn on the phone I will need to remove battery for approximately 1 hour.
I am running out of options here and I am pretty much ready to try crazy stuff in order to restore the phone. Could you please share your expertise or your opinions as I am not sure if it is soft brick or hardware might be affected as well. But I still have hope hehe.
Please share your screenshots here from other smartphone for better understanding. So,
1. You are rooted right?
2. You restored factory settings from your S2 settings knowing that you are rooted, right?
3. You can access download & recovery mode?
4. Can you charge your S2? Does it show charging while dead?
Have you ever trim your device?

Thank you for suggestion but I am not really sure what do you mean by Trim the device. I have done some googling but I haven't got far. Could you please explain bit more or share some link.

to nhmanas:
1. No, now it's pure stock ROM.
2. If you mean if I have reset to the factory settings knowing that phone is rooted then answer is yes.
3. Yes, I can access both.
4. Yes and no. I will explain below.
Yesterday I was able to turn on the phone and it started 4.0.4 without any problem. I have done nothing with the phone since my last post. Phone works fine except reboot, charging, power functions.
- If I try to reboot the phone, 2 soft buttons (menu and back) at the bottom of the phone will light up and nothing will happen with phone. I have try to leave it for hours.
- Power off works fine.
- When I powered device off or I have try to reboot it I am unable to start it again straigh away. Battery needs to be removed for about 1 hour and then phone will start.
- Charging works but again if battery is removed for 1 hour and placed back. If I power off the device and try to charge it dosn't work.
- I have try to upgrade the official ROM 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 over OTA and KIES but it failed because after reboot screen is black and soft buttons are ligh up.
Do you have any suggestions?
Access download mode and flash a stock ROM for your S2. Find it on sammobile.com. During Download Mode, connect cable and flash it through Odin.

What version of android did you use before brick?
Is it stock or aosp?
Trim is a command that delete or just trim (I dont really know one or both) your unused space. But this command is harmful for some emmc (sgs2, note1 and some more)
I am asking this for superbrick bug on official 4.0.4 kernel.
4.0.4 official kernel factory reset is a superbrick bug.
Sorry for bad english not a native speaker
