Doesn't boot. Just spinning logo forever. Didn't have time to see if ADB was on to try to get a logcat. Will try later.

I had been keeping an eye on his i9100 thread and the jist was to flash the latest CM nightly to have the newest recovery then reboot recovery and flash Waylands CM11 like normal.
Thanks Wayland, I am glad you have decided to help us out as well!
Also I just tested using the steps from the i9100 thread and still just get the CM boot logo. Nothing I did could get past it. I could however restore a Nandroid I had just made so no harm done.
Kind Regards,
Render
It doesnt boot for me too I would like to help with a logcat but the usb port dont work on my phone
Thanks anyway!

I will try again later today and provide a Log when I get back home
Logcat
I could not get past the CM boot logo so I could not provide a log at. If there is another way to get one for you then please let me know so I can do so.
Kind Regards
Render
I tried my best to get my phone to spit out a logcat because my phone also would not boot, it just sat at the splash screen. But, alas, I could not figure out how to get my device to not show offline. I know how to do it when Android is running, but not like that. BUTTTT, if someone can explain to me how to make the phone go "online" for adb during boot, I can pull a logcat, and would be more than grateful to do so, because im dying to try KitKat. Keep up the good work!
fastboot?
Is there no way to put the phone into fast boot mode and get a logcat that way? Would give it a try myself but my comp is on the fritz.

This might be a long shot, but I think it requires you to have CWM 6.0.4.3 and higher to install correctly. You might double check your current version.
My CWM version was 6.0.4.5 and it doesnt boot. So theres may be a problem that only a logcat could show..

Wayland said he would be taking another look at CM11 and our phone tomorrow. Just so you guys know.
Read on the i9100 forum before that someone who couldn't it to boot the normal way got it to work by just flashing CWM and not CM10.2. Tried that and no luck here.

Could it be an incompatible kernel issue? I know on the lg optimus zip and galaxy precedent (both straight talk phones with dev support from another forum) we had to enable sd-ext before cm would work. Not sure if that's the case here or not just a suggestion.
Wish I had internet to set up my build environment.
I have been watching the i9100 thread and have e been trying everything that has worked there but to no avail. I have been wanting to compile cm11 but have not had the time to do so. Wayland, most likely, will need to make some minor change but since he does not own our phone so we will need to be patient. I told him I would volunteer to test if need be.

If needed I have a spare s2 I can use for dev purposes however I'm not on the i777 but the s959g(straight talk) Vasily the same but minor software differences. I can be reached at [email protected] a lot easier then I can on this thread if y'all need any assistance.
I have been working on 4.4 for the i777 and getting CM11 to work right, I found that some people had to do ANOTHER Wipe data/factory reset AFTER flashing the rom and gapps. This is what has to be done on the CM11 rom I ported to the i777 to make it work. Just thought I would share.
Would you happen to know what is not working on this ROM? Any bugs you have found? Thanks.

Doesn't work. Not only that but now I can't go back to cm 10.2 after flashing this. I'd advise everyone to stay away from this port until its 100â„… bootable. If you try to go back you end up with status 7 error.

Hey guys, i hope someone can help me because i'm getting desperate.
Here's the problem:
I got a S3 for almost a year now, and always used the stock TouchWiz but recently I noticed how fast could a S3 with CM10 run and decided to change.
Root, flash, ROM installed. Happiness.
I was extremely pleased with the new ROM I was using, that was like one week ago, everything worked fine by then. Unfortunately yesterday my cam just stopped working, and I tried to google it, read more than 30 topics about that at many forums of people getting the same "CAN'T CONNECT TO CAMERA" problem.
I tried everything they said it worked, factory reset, flashing new ROM (tried ParanoidAndroid), Fix Permission on recovery, reflashing the CM10 ROM, tried stable version of CM9, tried to go back to Stock TouchWiz, and nothing seems to work for my phone.
So I got to this topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37072484
Tried that code in TouchWiz, and as soon as I type it it opens a window called CameraFirmware Standard but the rest of the screen is black (no options to cycle through), then in 3 seconds the windows closes and I got a message in my Home screen "Factory Test stopped".
I can assume from that that I may have a defected camera? It is a hardware problem?
Hope someone can help me with this, and can't think of anything else to try and I don't want to send it to customer service because they will probably take some days to look at the problem and fix it, and I need my phone to work.

It was on http://www.get.cm/?device=ruby, and is official Nightly for CM10.
I just figure if it is for the amaze, it was Sportsstar89.
It works great, and seems even peppier to me. I run CM10 'cause it has some features I need that are not yet present in the newer ROMs.

That's too bad. I used 4EXT with smartflash enabled, though I don't need it for S-OFF, just forgot to disable it. Since my last ROM was the CM10 immediately before it I wiped only Cache and Dalvik, but remember there may be more to flash if not coming from CM10.
Are you sure you got the whole file? Also, it could take 10 minutes first boot at CM logo. Why not try again, and maybe pre-flash the kernel--there's instructions around.
Maybe this will help:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2079288&highlight=stuck+spinning
And remember to flash the proper gapps:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Gapps
Also wouldn't surprise me if one of the other developers sees this thread and replies the quick fix.
Good luck.
Has anyone tested BAM on the TF201? If so what were your feelings on it vs CM11?
TF 201 is on BAMs supported Device List
I'm assuming you need to be on the 4.1 bootloader with a working recovery. You install it via the application
BAM Installer
if anyone is on 4.1 and willing to flash you should let me know how it goes. I am on Cromi-X on the 4.2 bootloader so I am hesitant to go through the whole flashing process if the ROM is buggy. Thanks in advanced.

I have been trying to get it install since yesterday. It says it installed successfully using the new TWRP Voyager recovery that is KitKat compatible. The ROM just sits at the Asus screen though for 3 or 4 minutes and won't boot the ROM. I don't know if there is something else I need to do or not. I know I haven't bricked my device as I was able to get back into recovery and install my backup. Anyone have any suggestions???

Maybe the new recovery isn't necessary? I am not too sure it seems like a lot of the community for developing is found on Google+ I haven't seen anything on XDA about BAM Android for our Primes, hence the reason I posted here in the Q&A

Actually I had to use the new recovery because of an error 7 message. I did research and I found out I needed a KitKat compatible recovery. Hopefully someone out there can help us.

Ah well that makes sense, we don't want to brick the tab over a possible ROM. How is CM11 though? I had 10.2 for a while but it stuttered too much for my taste. Have you noticed any degradation of overall performance with gaming and videos?

Nope really don't want any bricks. I'm still playing around with CM11 so I'll let you know for sure in a few days. So far I really like it. :good:
So guys, I have finally rooted my s3 (international version) after the warranty expired a week ago.
Have installed CWM and am in a search of ROM for it now.
For now I have decided to flash CM 11, but have few doubts about it:
Should I install m9 snapshot or m10 snapshot? I read it on reddit that m10 is not stable, so should I go for m9 instead for now?
And the zip file from their official site is around 212 MB, so does this zip file contain gaaps? If no, then where can I find the gaaps file for cm 11 m9 snapshot version?
I am kinda new to these things so sorry for being so noob.
And since I am flashing a rom for the first time, do I need to do anything else other than these steps:
1. Backup current rom using recovery.
2. Copy the zip file of the cm 11 rom in SD card.
3. Reboot into recovery, clear data, clear cache and clear dalvik cache.
4. Flash rom and gaaps(if not included in rom).
Any help regarding the above post

Only stock roms come with gapps.
You need to do some reading before you start playing.

I have actually read a lot about it, have done all the prerequisite steps (nandroid backup, efs folder backup etc), have downloaded cm 11 m9 and gaaps for it, now the only thing that is stopping me from flashing is rootSU post here which says:
"Note that Cyanogenmod is very controversial for the international version of the S3, there are technical issues, and newer stable version is always behind, I would NOT go for Cyanogenmod at the moment.."
So should i go ahead and flash cm 11? What do you guys suggest. I know i am being too preventive but this is my first time so i think this is understandable.

tHANKS How much FREE RAM do you get in CM11 Snapshot.
I will be doing the EXACT Same thing as you today or tomorow .
but I have a question , I'm stuck
How did you BACK UP your EFS folder/file?
I cant back it up suing the APP KTool Hack?
There is not much difference in free ram, but that should not be a problem I guess.
And for tha efs I actually used a app called Samsung tool (there is thread here on xda, go ahead and search it, else I will provide you tha link once I get on pc.) But after I read about k-tool, I even used it to backup it again and it worked for me fine. So you can try Samsung tools or may be some expert can help you in this regard.

Hey!!!!!! THANKS!!!

I JUST PUT THE FIRST EVER ROM ON MY PHONE!!!!!!
IT WORKS!!! :d
Im so happy I didn't screw anything lol!!!
How are you finding it?
only 1 stupid thing I got charged for a GPS because my phone automatic used mobile data!
CM11 Snapshot, is like Normal Stock Andriod. Has a few new things? like DPS and some terminal setting - Not sure.
It felt a bit laggy ,first but then speeded up.
WAHOOOO I GOT KITKAT!!!
Lol nice.
For me it wasn't laggy at all, buttery smotth. And yes as of now I haven't found any drastic changes, although haven't used phone much after updating but still I don't think my battery life is gonna improve :/ So most probably would be dead soon, will have to research on it though but thats out of topic now
Android operates differently to windows so the theory about free ram doesn't apply here.

Are you unable to download from cyanogenmods servers?
No tests have been done on this rom, I compiled it remotely it may or may not boot, I am unable to test due to my work, I work away from home, no computer and can't risk phone while away from home, I will do my own test once I get home and have complete access to computer.
Again this is untested alpha, all risks are on you, I can't provide and help, make sure you know how to get your phone in and out of bootloops, make sure splash tool is working for your phone, if something goes wrong you may need it to restore your phone.
To all that test this rom good luck, and post back your results, those that choose not to test, not a problem I fully understand, this is not to be taken lightly.

Usually thats because of a bad download from my experience , since i used to get that error alot.
Thanks for testing, When I get home, I will test it on my phone, check logcat and see what I can find.
This will probably be my last public testing, The next test ROM I release will be private.
I will post notice here when ready, and those that tested this version and still want to test any future versions will receive a download link via pm.

Well, we all have a to start somewhere... An actual "stable" version of CM may never really happen. I'd be happy to try the first build that actually boots up. No matter how buggy it might turn out, just so I can give you feedback and get a general sense of what this phone should feel, look like and behave out of the box.
I really miss the several options and customizations from CM ROMs... But above all, I really miss having a nicely made custom kernel with a good kernel manager app (like EX kernel manager) to set it up exactly the way I like it... I have faith in this device. Particularly because this phone is selling so well. I really hope for an official CM development for the R1 HD. Hopefully even a good custom kernel...! That would be awesome! Maybe then I'd be able to retire my Nexus 5. I have really missed having an external SD card... 64GB vs 32GB makes a huge difference.
I think the problem is in the boot.img, the init.
