cant flash via odin. stuck in download mode - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi
my s II had a sim problem then rebooted, then i saw the Samsung logo and it stuck that way.
i tried flashing via recovery a new rom , but everything is unmounted.
i tried via Odin a original firmware, but no luck. it stack on "writing nand" , i tried the leek ROM witch have 3 files PDA, PHONE and CSC but still no luck. now the phone enter only to DL mode (cmw gone)
any suggestions what should i do next? i read a lot of the guides here and didn't saw something like it...
maybe i need a PIT. file in order to re partition the phone ?
thanks guys..

Find Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread & try the stuff in it (even though you've already tried several of the suggestions in the thread) over & over & over. You don't have any other options, there is no easy fix. Flashing a PIT is probably the last roll of the dice, so make doubly sure nothing else works before you go down this path because if it fails/borks/whatever, you're probably looking at a new phone.

Keep the pit file method as a last resort. First look for @Hopper8's Odin troubleshooting guide here on XDA. Follow his steps and see if you can sort things out.

ok i'll try again..
but if i'll get to trying the pit method, what to do? i have 2 pit files emmc_EXT4_16GB.pit and emmc_EXT4_32GB.pit (that came with the leek firmware)
and do i check re-partition ?

Before you do anything with PIT's, search. This stuff has been covered here so many times before.
Edit - Here's one thread.

S2 NOOB flashing

ok i recently purchased a samsung s2 i9100p with a software issue in the hope of fixing it. i didnt understand at time of purchase that custom roms/kernals etc might have been loaded onto the phone and now im completely confused.
what i know about the device is when power button is pressed i get the black samsung s2 i9100 loading screen and no more
ive then read about how to enter recovery mode and the phone doesnt boot into it but will boot into download mode which reads the following
odin mode
Product Name: GT-i9100
Custom Binary: YES (8 counts)
Current Binary: Samsung Official
so i have no idea what versions of the roms, kernels etc i require as i dont know the current versions installed if any. And i have read about devices being rooted and unrooted which has left me confused in that aspect.
i did locate an official ROM file for i9100p with orange lock which is what i believe i need as the phone has orange logo on back cover. but when i get into odin ive tried both old and new versions the phone get to the NAND Write Start Stage and then Fails.
Anyone out there any advice as to what im doing wrong? it would be greatly appreciated
Search for Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread (do an advanced search on his username), try the stuff in that thread. You should successfully be able to flash it.

Thanks for quick reply il have a look at that now and see if i can get any further with it
It's a great thread/pretty much 'the reference' for this sort of thing on here, I'd be surprised if you can't recover it/get a successful Odin flash done with the info in it.

thanks alot mate at least i have a reference of what i should be doing now
downloading the files for this step
"Another option for i9100
If you have an i9100, probably the best option to flash is to flash 4.1.2 JellyBean leak. Download it here. This is a 3-part firmware. It will wipe your device as it flashes, and in many cases this extra wipe while flashing contributes to a successful flash. To set this file up in Odin (as it is 3 parts): PDA = CODE_I9100XXLSJ.tar, PHONE = MODEM_I9100XXLS6.tar, and CSC = CSC_HOME_OXX_I9100OXXLS1.tar. As usual, do not tick 'repartition'. "
in the hope the multiple files will be more successful than just the PDA> ROM flash i was trying. will post and let you know how it goes
Yep, hopefully the 3 part wiping the device will remove whatever remnants of what was previously on the phone that are causing the phone not to boot normally.

ok an update on my problem left it in repair shop and they managed to get it to boot to recovery but when i try and reset/wipe i am presented with a fallen over android with red triangle, its still stuck on boot loop but at least now i can access both recovery and download mode.
i also purchased a usb jig to try reset the counter but it doesnt reset must be whatever firmware on the phone from what ive read. after doing a check imei.info it shows that the phone is still under warranty until feb 2014 but i know because its been tampered with they probably wouldn't look at it
any guidance/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

[Q] Bricked?

My mum sold her S2 on eBay yesterday. On a previous occasion I had rooted it for her, so to reset it back I used stock (Orange) firmware from SamMobile. I followed this guide to unroot and reset it for the buyer, however, when I hit start in ODIN, it tried to set up the connection, but then stopped and said 'FAIL!'. When trying to turn it on it says to plug into Kies and hit restore. Should I do this, or is there another option?
Many thanks in advance
You need to keep trying the Odin flash; search for Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread if you're unable to do a successful one. Stuff to try in that thread should enable you to get it done.

Ok. Just to check, it it the CORE file that goes in the PDA field?
CORE file ?? What SGS2 variant do you have ? Normally with Samfirmware you'll end up with a zip file that contains a .tar.md5 file that you flash in the PDA section of Odin, an a .dll file which you discard.

UK Orange. It included 3 TAR.MD5 files, as said in the tutorial. It seems to be working now, anyhow!
Then do add SOLVED to the title of your post.

Original Firmware

Hello, I f**ked my phone and I couldn't repaired it like.. for 2 months practically.
To make the long story short.. I think i have done 2 things wrong..
1. I wanted to "install" the transparent bar. I followed this tutorial : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCeBOz8bxlc
But after I deleted those files ( astro couldnt deleted, i deleted it with another app ) the weather widget went crazy after restart.. it appeared.. dissapeared.. so i reset the phone to original settings ( settings - restore ), the batterry dropped from 100 % to 87 % to 66 % very quick.. my USB connection was gone.. phone couldnt see it anymore.. just charging..
2. After I've done that.. I rooted my phone again.. installed titanium back up but.. I deleted Chat-On.. and my phone would not boot after that..
So beeing a noob I thought if I'll go to my phone download mode and try to root it again ( http://iceimg.com/02tAwaev/xda.png ) will fix it and I've don that but of course it didnt.
All I've done afther that is beeing more stupid by nuking my phone.. and now I can't get if fixed.
I've installed a Custom ROM but couldnt get any incoming calls.. busy mode always for people who tried to phone me..
I was told by a guy who worked at a GSM that I need the exactly same OS that i had.. but:
1. I couldn't found on samsung site XXLS8 PDA..
http://iceimg.com/H_ZbTUYX/1.png
http://iceimg.com/cUJK03eT/2.png
I need the XXLS8 PDA file + CSC + MODEM files and I couldnt find them available for download...or any other advice for how to fix my phone pleasee...
PS: I read the link below but when i put only the pda file it will stuck at "setting connection"..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365701&page=1
3.Click PDA,and select the extracted JB/ICS firmware file.Do not select any other files like .PIT file.
4.Click Start.Firmware flashing will begin. It will take 5-10 min to flash.DO NOT DISCONNECT DEVICE!!
Check Samfirmware, AndroidFirmwares.net or Samsung-Updates.com for the firmware you need. If they don't have what you're after, use another stock rom released by your carrier.
If you find you have problems flashing with Odin, search for Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread & try the stuff in that thread. Should enable you to get a successful Odin flash away.

Phone stuck at some weird logo for me.

Hello,
This is my first post here. Just now I was trying to flash PhilZ Touch using Odin. While it's still in process, I accidently pulled the usb cable from my phone. I thought it was fine. So I removed my battery since at that time I was still at download mode. But when I tried to on my phone, it stucked at the image that I attached below. What should I do to fix it?
That's forced download mode - to fix, flash stock firmware with Odin - as you're already in download mode, you don't need to try & boot into it, just connect the phone to the PC via USB & off you go. Problems flashing ? Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting thread stickied in General has the info you need to get a successful flash.

Thank you for the reply sir. Can you explain it more detail? Is it just flashing the stock firmware with Odin will fix it? Or maybe there's some other steps that I need to do?
'...to fix, flash stock firmware with Odin...' (I won't be posting this a 3rd time), thread stickied near top of Q&A titled 'Flash stock firmware' has instructions.
Alright. I'll try it out. Right now, still downloading the stock firmware. Btw, I'm using I9100G so, are the steps still the same? Because what it says on the thread is

Yes. Just make sure you download I9100G firmware, he's wrong - usage of Odin is exactly the same for all I9100 variants - extract .tar.md5 file from zip you DL from Samfirmware, junk .dll file in the zip, put .tar.md5 file in PDA section of Odin, click start.
I've already given you more than enough info that you could easily have found by searching, so I won't be posting to this thread again. Up to you to fix it now...

Dead home button and bootloop

So as the title suggests i have an dead home button and bootloop. This means that i can't boot into recovery to do a factory reset.I flashed the stock rom via odin but it still bootloops because of the previous cyanogenmod rom i had. I can't enter recovery by the up-power-home key combination and i also can't enter by the adb reboot recovery at bootloop.
I don't know if there is anything else to do, Is there any method i can wipe data and do a factory reset from odin ?
Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread stickied in General; download the 3 part firmware linked to in thread & flash with Odin - this will wipe the phone & hopefully get rid of whatever is causing bootloop. Problems with flash ? Go through troubleshooting steps in thread methodically until you get a successful flash.

Oh my God, it worked! Thank you very much, i cannot believe it f****** worked! THANKS!
Good news, glad it worked. No probs Don't forget to thank the OP in Hopper's thread, he put a lot of time/effort into putting it together to make it the 'go-to' thread for S2 on here in these situations.
Hello!
I am facing a really similar problem, however, i can't enter the download mode (also because of the broken home button) to flash the 3 part firmware that was linked in that thread. Do you have any other idea? i also tryed the adb download mode but the computer is not recognizing the usb (SAMSUNG USB MTP failed).
Thanks in advance.
The only thing that *might* work is to force the phone into download mode with a USB jig.....then follow @Hopper8s guide as @MistahBungle suggested to the other poster. If your phone is bootlooping as opposed to being completely dead, you have a reasonable chance that the jig will work.
My wife says I'm a phone geek....She's probably right
hey!!
Thanks for the reply!! After about 50 trys, the phone miraculously entered the download mode with the technique of holding the volume down pressed and plugging a charger in it. After that i followed the steps described in the guide, flashed the 3 part firmware and worked like a charm!
Thx a lot for the help!!
Cant find link for 3 parts firmware ... any help plz ???

Check hopper8's odin troubleshooting guide. It is sticky'd in the general section and has a link (hosted by me) to the 3 part firmware in the OP
