Hello!
Today I received the Update for Superuser 1.0.2.3 automatically via Google Play.
SGS2 NeatROM Lite 4.6.1 Android-Version 4.1.2
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...uperuser&hl=de
When starting the app I was asked to install the updated binaries what I immediately did.
At this point I did not receive any error or hint!
I guess that this update wasn't successful
because I do not receive any popup-windows since then:
- Apps which do have root-access already
(which are listed in Superuser!) stay with root-access.
- If I delete an app from the Superuser list I cannot add it again in the future (because Superuser isn't willing to give me a popup-window)
-> it's root-access is gone!
- Fresh installed apps do suffer from this.
(After reinstalling Tasker I experienced this/found out about this
and first thought that Tasker might be the problem...)
Being convinced that the Superuser update just failed
I restored from a nandroid backup.
This time I tried to update the binaries with the recovery-method:
The recovery gives me an error:
The ZIP is damaged or similar...failed...
vfat /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 fstype2=ext4
Now I found this empty folder: root /dev/com.koushikdutta.superuser
which is dated today. (I can probably delete it?)
How shall I now behave and install/update the Superuser binary file
succesfully to the newest version (1.0.2.3)?
So far i do get to see this question on every reboot
Have the same problem. I went to Settings-Apps and uninstalled updates. Now works great
Thanks! It's good to know
At some other place SuperSU was recommended - I'll see what works for me...
I switched to SuperSU now -> works nice
Me too, works very good. How have you done it?

Ok just got a replacement Vibrant. I Immediately went to the official release of froyo to test. Installed fine using KIES. Attempted to Root and did so successfully using the SuperOneCLick app wich when finished tested and confirmed root. Went to install Busybox and it gives me the Nand locked error.
1)Is there a way to confirm phone is nand locked?
2)Ive only found a way to unlock nand is for the Bell version or requires a paid app or extra non Tmobile sim card (wich I dont have). Is there a way to unlock nand for Tmobile not involving either sim card or cash?
3)Is it possible to odin a different rom/kernel (namely TW's Newest Nero) if phone is nand locked and have working busy box/root?
open titanium backup and click on 'problems?' to d/load busybox, same issue?
Yes it downloads busybox and then says "failed" after verifying busybox. Says cannot get root permissions. Please verify you have root and Busybox.
download terminal
open it
type "su" (no quotes)
what did it return?
SU comes up with "Permission denied". Should I try using the "update.zip" method with froyo? As i said the other program confirmed root supposedly. Super User Is installed BTW.
Did you follow this guide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925400
Ok that was the guide i was following. Issue was that whenever I tried to dl the recommended file manager from market , It would show the dl completeing and then close with the application never installing and not showing up in applications. I had already had ES File explorer installed as that was my favorite on my initial vibrant (pre official 2.2) because the ease of transferring files wirelessly and other functions. I uninstalled ES and ran Titanium again and this time was prompted for SU rights. After giving rights to Titanium i again ran the "Problems" button and ths time busybox installed. Restarted Ti and ran "Problems" and updated busybox just fine.
Seems my immediate issue is done. Now on to backup and then ROM's.
You, my friend, deserve a big, sloppy, man kiss.
*BTW The app Super Manager is still not installing for me even after removal of ES and reboot of phone.
Open titanium backup
Select "market"
Wipe data
Wipe it again for good measure.
Still in tb
Menu > market doctor
Fix market links
reboot
Open market
Agree to terms
Issue fixed?
Perfect that did the trick. Never knew about that feature in Ti Backup. Again many thanks. Working on the CWR signature issues now, following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423 . Dont want to do anything until I have a nandroid to fall back on.

Firmware Version 2.1-update1
Kernel 2.6.29
Compilation No. 2.1.1.A.0.6
Has anyone had an issue with the newest binaries with the latest superuser AP? When I updated the binaries, I lost root permissions even though it shows permission is granted.programs requiring root access will not work. If I use the old binaries aps work correctly. The only annoyance is the constant reminder that there is an update to the binaries available. Any fix?
I had that problem a few days ago.
Over the course of a few days, I received 2 update notifications of Superuser app from Android Market. The 2nd update fixes the problem.
I suggest you check "My Apps" in Android Market for an app update
goto the Market & uninstall the updates. 3.05 is the one causing the force closes. Revert back to 3.02. You can also search for the 3.02 version & goto cwm and flash 3.02. that will fix the problems saying you don't have root. I had that problem on my HTC Thunderbolt also. www.teambamf.net had this solution in one of their threads.

I'll try that and report back.
Thanks
I rolled back the update and I am no longer told the binary needs an update...although that does make me nervous about other stuff...
Hello everyone, first (third, actually, but anyway..) post here.
This morning I installed this wonderful ROM (Beanstalk 4.4.2), and got stuck into a little issue:
With the moving from Android Tweaker to Android Tweaker 2, I've decided to remove the older app (I did not like it anyway, but that is another matter), since last update made it useless. And here comes the problem: I can't.
I've tried with Clean Master and it says fail, I've tried with Titanium Backup and it says complete but the app is still right there (and it also "works"), I've tried via command line: pm uninstall atweakerfree.apk, says he can't (obviously, all of them had root access, and I was "su" on the last one).
I also had the same problem with two of the 3 launchers coming with the ROM, once I've decided which one to use, but in some way, after enabling ADB root access, Clean Master made it through.
Android Tweaker just seems to be unremovable, also tried to remove BeanStalk Explorer (I prefer other file managers), and failed here too.
Any help? I'll be forever thankful.
Maybe You could delete the apk from /data/app (or /system/app) via Root Browser?
Or reboot to Recovery, mount /system and run Aroma Filemanager?

First advice did the trick, thanks and solved!
Hey Guys,
I'm having an issue with my root and I cant seem to figure out, the device is the first gen Asus Infinity TF700. So, my root has been a bit wonky for a few months now, hadn't really payed much mind to it as all my apps that need root were working fine but trying to install some new apps that need root would always tell me that I dont have root (even though it passes rootchecker and everything)
The other day I tried installing another app that needs root and it ran extremly slowly, when trying to perform certain things it would tell me I dont have root and at one point it said to install SuperSu and update binaries.
I had Superuser installed, I opened it up and noticed that it hadn't added any new apps to the allow list and the last log entry was months old, it seems like it's being blocked by something else or it just broke.
So fine I uninstalled Superuser and installed SuperSu, ran SUperSu and it asked to update my binaries, I hit continue then selected normal for the update method and it failed, tried several times all with the same result - it fails and exist when I hit OK.
I found some info saying that Busy Box Installer could be used to possibly fix this issue, I downloaded BusyBox Installer, opened up the app and hit Install but it also fails to install, I tried selecting the advanced installer method but that just fails loading the advanced installer.
Another thing I found was people saying that this could be caused by a full system partition, mine is 93% full but withouth properly working root I can't delete any system apps, I tried installing system app remove and it tells me I don't have root.
You guys know way more abut this then I do so maybe this all points to one thing? It kind of seems like it all points to one underlying problem, if anyone could help me figure this out I would really appreciate it.
I just flashed CM11 onto my Amaze (T-Mobile S-ON) and everything runs fine except when I tried to use titanium to restore my apps, it gave me this message: "Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted, and try again. This attempt was made using the "/system/bin/su" command." I opened Superuser and scrolled to info. It says "superuser v3.1.3 (46)" and "su binary v3.1.1 (17). When I press on the su, it goes to a binary updater which says "downloading manifest," then, after a minute or so, it says "fail" in red at the end of the "downloading manifest" line. I downloaded superuser by CWM after this problem and when I opened the app, it said: "The Superuser binary (su) must be updated. Please choose an installation method. Recovery mode installation is recommended for HTC devices." It gives me the option to press cancel or Recovery Install. When I press recover install, it says: "There was an error installing Superuser. Please send a log of the error to the developer." I went onto the superuser website, downloaded the latest arm su and superuser, put them on my sd card, went into 4ext and installed both from sd card and still have the same problem.
Problem: I can't grant superuser permissions to any apps because something is wrong with my su binary. I tried installing su-bin-3.1.1-arm-signed.zip from 4ext and it said the installation was successful, so I do not know what is wrong.
Root?

I think you are not rooted.
Try app "Simple Root Checker" from Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simonedev.simplerootchecker
If not rooted, try this to gain root:

I used that app and it said: "Android 4.4.2 HTC Amaze 4G Application Superuser found Terminal Rooted Busybox installed BusyBox v1.21.1" So I am guessing I am rooted. Should I try using that tool to flash SuperSU anyway? Thanks for helping me out with this.
SuperUserSU problems.

Nice--my mistake. In your Superuser info, where you found your su binary listed "su binary v3.1.1 (17)", did it give the file specs right underneath--it does in mine.
Also, if you go into Superuser app, then Preferences->Security->Automatic Response, is that accidentally set to "Deny?" Betcha' that won't work.
Is Titanium Backup listed in your Superuser apps list, and if you open the info there, is it "Allowed?"
Probably what you said about re-flash Superuser is reasonable, and worth a shot if the Automatic Response is already set to Allow or Prompt.
I'll also wager that someone else with good insight and experience will stop in the thread with a working answer for you.

The problem you describe is common with more recent versions of CM (at least I've experienced it). It's due to the way CM is now implementing their included Superuser app, which is different from how it used to behave and how many other apps expect it to behave. The solution is to flash SuperSU in recovery from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053 (if it resolves your issues please remember to thank its creator and consider purchasing the full version).
When you set it up, enable "pro" mode, survival mode, allow it to install the scripts, and respect CM root settings. If installed correctly you should be good to go.
I hope this helps
