Clockworkmod recovery ROM installation aborted? - Samsung Galaxy Mega

Hi,
i have been using the Cassies XtraLiteRom V4 from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2372863
for about 3months. but just recently my phone become weird.
it all started when i was skyping. then the app hanged. i got no choice but to reboot.
after i reboot, i realised that it is not in english. (its like it have changed to Slovenia automactically)
then the phone work as per normal.
but i realise that the freedom app is not working and it keep on saying that it is "not available in my country."
i feel that it is quite weird then i tried to do a reformat, but i get an error saying that "installation aborted".
i tried to use the stock rom but the same error came.
i do a full wipe and clean up on my phone and did a reflash of clockworkmod recovery. and tried again. but the same error came about.
so i go about unrooting the phone then installed the stock recovery and tried to install the stock ROM.
but there is an error E:signature verification failed.
is there any kind souls out there to help me? i am kinda sad right now.

Select the rom for your country from the site below and flash using odin.

I get the same error, but I may be arriving at it from a different method. I'm new to this, so I wanted to get all the pieces together before flashing anything. I got rom manager from the market, the fixed cwm (not loaded yet), sc 2.9.2, and odin. I was looking at rom manager, and saw the option to "flash recovery" so I thought this would be a shortcut. I did it, and it says I have 3.0.0.8. So then I wanted to backup my current rom (stock). When I selected "create backup", it prompt for a name, then reboots (into recovery) and that's when I get that error. Recovery text is blue. When I select "apply update.zip", I get nothing but a blank screen with the triangle and droid image.
Another thing that concerned me was that the market description of rom manager says that samsung users have to flash a compatible kernel first. That made me nervous, because I didn't want to flash anything until I had a backup.
I get the feeling that using the 3/30 cwm fix will resolve that issue.

Yes, following GizmoDroid's steps for the 3/30 cwm fix should help. The other thing that will help is leaving rom manager alone and not touching it at all. It no workie for our Fascinates right now. Neither does the orange cwm 3.0.0.8. But I believe I read that several of the devs want to start pushing toward that cwm. For now though stick with the 03/30 and don't touch rom manager for anything.
Is there any other app to use for backing up roms? Or should I just get the stock ea28 rom to keep as a backup?

I use titanium backup to backup my apps, sms backup for my text messages, sync my contacts to my gmail account, and now that these great devs have given us a working cwm that allows us to do nandroid backups and restores, you can use that to save a snapshot of pretty much your entire phone except I think I read somewhere it does not backup your kernel and modem.

[Q] Flashing Rom Help!

Right, I have a Motorola Razr XT910 GSM (As I am in the UK) fully rooted. Whenever I turn my phone on I go straight on the CWM screen, not a problem. But how do I flash roms, I've tried the method of going into 'install zip from sd card' but doesn't seem to work, as it ends up saying 'installation aborted' but why? I know theres another, alternative metod (fastboot) but how do I do that on my mac? I'm so confused by this thanks!

Messed up flashing, could use some help

On my Verizon GS3.
I was using a stock-rooted ROM, and then today tried to install the latest wanamlite.
Even though it says No Wipe, I did just to be safe in CWM (or so I thought).
When trying to flash the ROM, I got the "assert failed:write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img","boot")" error , and I remember seeing a (status 7) error
Then I tried to reboot... and then nothing but a black screen.
I've tried the Volume Down + Home + Power button to get into "Download Mode" with no success.
I would appreciate any help towards getting this rom on my device.
PS. I've searched, and read these threads

Man, I should've been paying attention. I was directed to that rom there from a thread I found in the Verizon section.
Sorry bro, just get a rom from the Verizon forum I'm sure your phone will be just fine after flashing.

By the wayJJ I didn't use Rom manager to flash stock. I did use Odin. I used Rom manager to flash synergy like I do all Roms. This was the first time I actually fixed a soft brick myself instead of having my tech friend do it. I must say it's extremely satisfying when I can fix it myself.

Perhaps give TWRP2 a try as the recovery. I've had more success with it over CWM with newer ROMs and never went back to CWM.
When reporting an issue... it's a fantastic idea to describe your problem as clearly as you can.
"Error blah blah blah Bad ... blah blah blah" doesn't really help anyone to help you.
Cwm gave your an error, now I can only assume it was a status 7 error.
That means your recovery is older than the type of script used in the zip to flash the rom.
To fix this, do as the poster above said and get the latest twrp, or find an updated version of cwm.
I personally use twrp so I'm not 100% sure where to find the latest cwm if it's not here on xda.
Now... if this isn't the error you're getting. Do yourself a favor and just flash that rom and
POST EVERY SINGLE THING CWM SAYS.

Hi,
what did you mean you went back to stock? and what is USSD?
here are my issues:
Hi, I really love this CM 10.1 ROM I am running the 10.1 201330209-unofficfial-quinctatt. Everything works fine except when I reboot the phone it loads the boost screen starts up and then freeze once done with the boot screen.
SO I need to restart the phone a few times to be able to get it back on.
---also I have 5.8.4.3 CWM in stalled and try to use ROM manager when it works even got the paid version but booting into CWM works best.
I am unable to install the latest cm-10.1-20130306-EXPERIMENTAL-quincyatt-M2.zip. I get a.
--- "zip status 7 aborted message.
Also when I try to install cm-10.1-20130304-EXPERIMENTAL-quincyatt-M2.zip. it installs fine,
But when I try to place calls.
---there is no sound on the speaker or external or internal.
I would like to stay current on the nightlies but are these just some of the glitches that come with it?
---Also I tried installing the GB-modem because my GPS wont lock, I think that is when the phone quit allowing me to make calls(no sound on speakers) which help the gps a little I guess? not really.
I am now back on the i717UCLF6 baseband.
If it wasnt for my nandroid back up I would be totally LOST!
I mostly use liquid Mod it works best, love it! but would like to be on 10.1 CM. Still no gps lock though. I REALLY NEED GPS, i drive a lot for work.
I know there is a lot going on here buy ANY! help is very much appreciated!
Install the latest TWRP recovery ...IMHO And although I might get flames thrown for this, use recovery to flash directly, and not through the rom manager app.
It has caused users some grief...
Regarding your sound and boot errors, boot into recovery and wipe all caches ....cache/dalvik cache .....then reboot too test. It sounds as if your flash may be dirty somehow. And if restoring apps to your new roms by using titanium backup or other apps, restore only the APK and not the associated data stored by those apps.
CM nightly builds are buggy yes, and will have errors not found in stable builds. But having used the same build you are referring too only a day ago, I can tell you that my sound was okay with the M2 rom.
And I commend you on the creation of a proper nandroid backup. It seems all too often we find users in real trouble with no backup in their pocket to save them.
Call me anal retentive, but I flash bleeding edge tweaks every day, and I keep backups compatible to all 3 recoveries we have for the note just for this type of emergency.
The latest TWRP and a cache cleaning should help you with both the current build, and future builds to come.
Good luck, and happy flashing ...g
