[Q] Best kernel for my P-7500? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a SG Tab 10.1 running Cyanogenmod 10.2 ROM, I didn't touch/change the kernel, All I want is better battery life without sacrificing the Performance I would really appreciate a recommendation

Just use the one packed with it. Its good enough and besides, there are no other separate 4.3 kernels.

Did CM 10.2 flashed a kernel with it?

Did CM 10.2 flashed a kernel with it too? How many hours does your P-7500 last till it reaches 20%?

Of course. If there's no kernel then the ROM won't boot. Mine can last for around 6 hrs before reaching 20%.

Thinking about ics

Its been awhile since I have browsed the sgs2 forums and I stop in and notice ics is all over here. So I'm thinking of upgrading my girls s2 to 4.0 and I want opinions and stability and function of the current roms.
I'm leaning towards aokp or cm9. I have cm9 on my note and a500 so I'm fond of it obviously.
Coming from gb rooted w/ cwm full wipe and good to go I assume? I ask because in the n7k forum the leaked kernals suck and there were all these stupid methods for going from gb to ics...
Anyway thanks.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Yup full wipe. I am not running either of those ROM's so cant comment on them. I have been following Task's AOKP thread. That may be the next one I try.
If you'd like to try a Samsung based rom, give ShoStock2 a try. It's the best I've ever tried.

Ultimatum and SHOstock are excellent. AOKP is pretty sweet too.

ICS is well worth the upgrade
I've been running CM9 since the first nightly. I love it. Haven't had any issues.

I've been running aokp for a few weeks and love it so far. It has been pretty stable and fast as hell. I'm sure things are even better in the latest build, but I haven't flashed yet.
Its like when GB became available and everyone was still on Froyo- once you open the desert and have a taste, your likely not gonna go back. And now that video recording is fixed- its all gravy baby
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
Definitely go with AOKP, it's stable, fast, full of features, and rocks great battery life.
The only benefit of the Samsung ICS is MHL.

If MHL is a must, i think you're stuck with TW for now. My final choice was between aokp and cm9. Check the support/discussion threads, big difference...
No need for MHL I just want a stable ics rom for her because her miui rom is buggy as heck.
Thanks guys ill keep watching the dev section. For me aokp and cm9 are really similar so it just comes down to battery life and stability which is different for each person.

Aokp all the way baby, super stable and awesome battery. Way better than gb
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA
I've been using shoshock lastest gingerbread build. it's great. I'm waiting for a while.
Running AOKP and it's running great.
Just flash Siyah's kernel and go for dual boot to check both Samsung and AOKP/CM9 roms together.
I've been running CM9 since the first nightly. I love it. My phone feels brand new and I don't feel like upgrade it, except I want LTE.
Thanks everyone. I flashed aokp for the extra settings and customization. Its been super stable so far and battery is good but will be better once it settles. Might try siyah might not???
Anyone recommend a Better modem? Have you been getting batter with gb ones or ics ones.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
I'd go with CM9 nightlies simply because it's supported by ROM Manager which makes it ridiculously easy to flash new updates, which come very fast by the way...plus it's CM9. Good luck.
Cm9 is nice I use it on my tablet and note but lacks some features I know my girl requires.

I tested the latest LD3 but decided to change back to LC5, it is faster than the old modems and seems more stable in my area. I have been running AOKP for a while and love it.
I am enjoying CM9. Lots of Entropy involvement. Good team working on it.

Siyah 4.1.5. and Neatrom lite works for me.
Speedmod latest GB kernel (I think it's k2-21) + checkrom v6. It's a GB though

Try this one, you'll get the best battery life anyone on here has ever had. I promise.
I use dorimanx kernel 7.11 + slimbean 2.8
In my case the battery lasts longer and it's stable and heavily customizable :good:

Seems all of them are the best. Gonna flash them all together.
The absolute best battery you can get is with Kernels that have MMC_CAP_ERASE enabled.Trust me. It might take you a while to find one but when you do, woah. Be sure to do a few data wipes after you've flashed the said kernel to get the most optimal battery life. I promise you it works, I did that and haven't needed to charge my phone for over a month now.

I would love to encourage Samsung to install this lovely kernel to all it's android line-up so we all can get benefit of life time battery life
Hi Guys,
I'm a new member so I cannot post in the Development Thread of the Super Nexus 2.0 ROM for the Galaxy S2 GT - I9100.
Galaxy S2's battery life is horrible as experienced by most people and I am no exception. So I was looking for a Good ROM with best battery life.
My search ended with Super Nexus 2.0 ROM. Its a very good and stable ROM. But its been almost a month since i installed the ROM but the battery life is almost the same as the Stock ROM. Tried some battery saver apps, but not satisfied. I would not like to change the ROM as its brilliant expect the battery life. So thinking of changing the kernel (Never done that before), so what do you guys think which Kernel is the best for Super Nexus 2.0 ROM and Battery Life.
Thanks.

[Q] [q] which rom to use?

Hi I am 15 years old and i have a samsung galaxy s2 GT-I9100 with stock ics 4.0.3 (exactly I9100XXLPS). It have some issues with (not opening some times) wifi and several battery drain when im playing games ( need for speed, asphalt, etc). I want to play games and surfing but my phone does not keep its battery until night. So I want a rom and a kernel which have no much battery drain, fix wifi issue and if its possible to extend the wifi signal...
Sorry for my poor english.
Thanks in advance.
Hi, i'm also 15 yr old, btw i'm from Serbia(if u know where is it...), if u using cf kernel it has a wifi bug so i suggest u to install siyah or dorimanx kernel... And, i think themes like this(whats best rom, which to use, ...) are forbidden, sorry btw try SuperNexus rom, for me that's best rom for begginers, wish u a luck !
I have to say that ROMs are all about personal preference. Imo you should test out various ROMS to see what's best for you...
That being said, I'm currently using Cm7 on my I777 and it has great battery life (although I suspect it has something to do with turning the second core off and using Siyah GB.)
For Jellybean my preferred ROM is Super Nexus... I got pretty good battery on that one too!

I'm using PA 2.54 with Dorimanx 7.17 kernel with moderate UV and battery save settings from STweaks. I deactivate auto-running non-useful apps and location services, use lower brightness, uninstalled some system apps and frozen others, etc. Search forum for more info

Sorry, but i am not a begginer and i know where is serbia... Anyway i am using stock kernel too now. Also i was using latest jelly bean resurection remix with latest siyah a week ago, but latest resurrection remix version had a very big issue with severe battery drain, so i decided to return to stock unbranded 4.0.3 and then try an other rom. Thats why i create this threat, for not trying all s2 roms.....
Thanks to all of you guys who replied.

How many battery cycles did you let the battery settle for? You should give your battery at least 3 cycles before you judge the life of the battery after you flash something. You can also try CPU spy from the play store to see if your device is deep sleeping. Also try better battery stats to see if you have any wakelocks.

I use RR 3.1.2 and I don't think there is a severe battery drain. Use better battery statsto know what caused it, at the first place.

I give the battery 10+ battety cycles in each rom i try before i report... I will try battery stats and set cpu but i think (because i have tried them in rr) they will not give me the exact reason about my problem. I will try again and post here the results.
Anyway, thank you.

In rr 3.0.1 jelly bean (the latest i have tried in rr) i didnt install the fixes which released one day after (was for rom fonts, etc, nothing for battery), because i have updated via update me app, which didnt download the fixes... Yesterday i found these fixes on internet... Do you think that this was a cause of my battery drain problem? But why the problem remained (not like in rr, but ramained) after i installed the official stock 4.0.3?

Hardly when idle and ok while using it. 4 - 5 hrs gaming. That's the max you can get with stock batteries.
Im not 15 and I want a rom and kernel that makes the battery last a week. Will be playing games all day,and making the odd call, and listening to music.
Ive got a ds,a psp and an ipod......but I dont use them now as its my phones responsibility to think its all them........and to make calls etc.
Now why have I got to charge the phone every day ......its totally ridiculous.

Using a Kernel other than Semaphore?

Is anyone out there using a non-Semaphore based kernel?
In my experience, Phore (and its variants) is fast & smooth, but for reasons I have yet to surprise, after a few days my poor refurb can't handle it & becomes a kernel panic landmine.
Again, not bashing Semaphore (why would I? It's awesome).
Just looking for something that might prove more stable on MY finicky phone besides the stock CM kernel.

[q] aosp roms

So ive flashed alot of TW roms. But I really want to go to aosp 4.3. What is good n stable along these lines? What kernels does AOSP have? Is it worth going from 4.1.2 to 4.3 or should I stick to AOSP 4.2 roms. All advice is welcome

The latest CM is probably the most stable AOSP kernel out there right now. I would just use the stock CM kernel though as I get some weird issues with the other kernels out there.

There is no BEST and yet they are all the BEST. Members are expected to research and read through the Development threads. The only thing you will get here is a list of all the ROM's & Kernels because every member has found what is best for them. You can get the same list by looking at the first few pages in development.
Thread closed.
Have a great day!
