I really really want this phone, but on Verizon my family and I have the grandfathered-in unlimited data plan. However this means getting phones off-contract and bringing them to Verizon, because if we upgrade through Verizon we'll be moved to the tier system, and we would very much not want to do that (as a family we use around 12GB a month, which is above the highest tier of 10GB)
So, I found it on craigslist for $425. Worth it? Any good upcoming deals on sites to get the phone cheaper than that off-contract?
EDIT: It is black 32GB model btw

Yes. You can't get a better phone for that price. It's cheap.
Any answer you get would be just opinion and since you're in g2 forum most will probably say yes. What's important to you in a phone? I personally think the g2 is worth every penny but if you want a phone that is on the latest software and youre not interested in the LG extras get the nexus 5. Ultimately it comes down to your personal preference

Absolutely worth it. I bought mine from Verizon for $449 during their special and love it.
Just could not part with my unlimited data.
It replaced my Galaxy Nexus which I've owned since release day.

I've also seen some in Texas. Also, anecdotally two of the AT&T stores near me were completely sold out of the OG when I was trying to get my phone replaced for what the techs chalked up to a hardware issue. They are selling, but still nowhere near a similar HTC or Samsung phone in a likelihood.

Actually, even if LG unlocked it to be just like the N4 AT&T would never allow that update, they absolutely hate their users having root or anything xda generally strives for.
My guess is that, among other things, it is so easy to tether/hotspot once rooted without paying for such a plan.

As long as you are in the return window, once you return it they reset your "upgrade" with ATT so you will be back to same status you were before the purchase

Nah....
I did it for the HTC One. Going to try it out. Paying 25bucks a month, I can either trade it in later or pay it off and keep it. To me, its no different than buying the phone outright and then selling it for half value.
Now if you have an upgrade available and can do the upgrade shuffle to keep unlimited, I would do that instead. But I'm being impatient.
Oh, and it let me keep unlimited.

I did the exact same thing. Enrolled in Edge, bought the HTC One, and kept unlimited. And I wasn't eligible for an upgrade on this line until November 2014.
Here is the link, I'm surprised it's not getting more attention:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2423121
I upgrade on average once a year, maybe twice depending on what Samsung puts out. I usually get phones about a month or so after they come out off swappa or craigslist for about half the price of new. I used an upgrade to get the S3, then upgraded to the Note 2 about 3 months later. I sold the S3 for 450 and got the Note for 375. When the S4 came out, people were trying to trade straight across for the note 2. I could have "upgraded" but chose to stick with the note. So I figure it would cost me less to continue doing my upgrades as I have then it would be to go with edge. Phone companies are never working for you, its always about making money. We will see how good edge really is.

The only one that is truly a good deal is Tmobiles Jump program. It's 10 dollars and that includes full insurance. So basically you end up not paying much extra to upgrade every 6 months. Plus, you don't have to have your phone half paid for. The only downside... It's t-mobile service. Otherwise, you are paying a lot more with Verizon edge.

Let's face it, the LG G2 "copied" and improved upon everything from the S4 - which is the least of my worries, as the result is a frantically amazing phone! However, LG could use a few pages from Samsung's marketing strategies. Just like HTC, LG hasn't been pushing aggressively enough worldwide to make its latest flagship wanted/desired by consumers, especially in the US. I really hope history doesn't repeat itself like with the Optimus G. LG has birthed a definite winner this time.

I got mine for $150 about a week and half ago from Amazon. I did a chat on Amazon today with a customer service rep and got them to match the $99 price. They did that even though I am not a new subscriber. I just referenced that price in the chat instead of the $119 for current subs with upgrade pricing.
I also got to keep unlimited data. This was through the Amazon loophole, not the recent Verizon glitch/boost 3rd quarter sales thing.

amazon does penny phones that are brand new too. when the dna came out, I think, or the rezound, one of them, it was a penny like a month after it came out... and they were both high end phones at the time. why is anyone complaining that there's a price drop?

I am keeping my eye out for the Moto X, its intriguing to me...BUT not over the LG G2, this thing lasts ALL day on battery.
My question now is.... am I holding the original designed phone that the Nexus 5 is being made out of? Should I consider getting the Nexus 5? I dont care for the stock Android thing or updates because I am rooted so that is not a factor.

Yeah man all of my trades were done locally through Craigslist, every one always tells me " I dont have the money you have to always having a newer phone" I am like WTF? I never pay full price for my phones. I always trade... its so dumb to me that people think they have to stick with the phone they signed a 2 year contract with...SMH
I honestly didn't think i would get someone to trade my HTC One for a G2, but when I got that offer i made sure to do it ASAP!
Anyways what do you guys think? Or better yet what would you do? go for the N5 or stick with G2?

Lmao I trade on cl all the time. At times it can be shady but if your smart you shouldn't be tricked
But for the first time I bought a phone full price which is my g2. It kinda hurt dropping the cash but I knew I was going to get a hell of a phone so its worth it 100%
Had a work buddy want to trade for a 5s he just got but no way lmao!

Yeah same thing here, I recived the same offer too for a 5S, and i said nah.
I do the same exact thing! You be surprised what kind of deals Ive gotten. Patience is the key, My best one was probably trading an old S3 for a brand new Droid DNA Verizon Employee editition, flipped that easily.

Lol...same thing happened with me also. Paying full price sux but this phone makes it worth it
i also got my G2 from a S4 trade lol welcome to the club !
You are guys very lucky!
In my country it is very difficult to trade phones. We usually sell used and buy used or new. This process causes loss of money as you know!
I have always tried to trade but never worked! (Most of the time trades are just not logical ; like an s3 for a blackberry curve or such)

And that's the thing it's mostly a loss for no matter what hobbie/hobbies your in. Unless you have a iPhone. That's the only phone you can pretty Much get almost full price of what its worth new

Honestly the only thing thats a big factor are the prices. The lg g2 is better then the nexus 5 IF you are rooted (pure android). Bought my lg g2 from a guy that didnt need for 500 bucks. 50 dollar difference than the nexus 5 that just came out. just got cyanogen on it and it'll work as good as the nexus 5. The nexus 5 only had the pure android experience and the price as an advantage. I got both of these from my LG g2 so for me there was no point in getting the nexus 5.

No..... For right now, the g2 roms are coming and the one I wanted was cm, and now we got nightlies so I'm good. Now n5 development will DOMINATE the g2 of course.

I am also waiting on CM for the T-Mobile version..... i think right now the camera isnt working.
I think the n5 is cool but, that battery and those side buttons. I got burned quick on my nexus 4 because pure android to me gets boring after a while. I like the stock g2 rom.
LG G2

Someone offered me a 2013 Nexus 7 and a HTC One for my White 32gb Note 3. I am pretty sure i am getting the G2. Really would love the N5 , but Google play says it won't leave the wear house for 3 weeks and I don't have anything to b use til thenn can't 3 weeks for a phone...I hear the G2 is pretty dope and almost the same performance wise as the note 3. I am nervous I am gonna miss this note 3 too much tho. Just can't hand not being able to rom/kernel all that good stuff.
Still thinking about that Nexus 7 and HTC ONE trade.
