Hello. I am using a Samsung Tab 2 10.1 P5113 and I updated my Google Play Music app to the update released on May 15th (the one with the "All Access" feature and ever since then it keeps crashing. It is completely unusable. I have tried everything I could think of. I was on CM 10.1 nightlies, then i went back completely to stock, I've unrooted, wiped, uninstalled, re installed, and every other idea I could think of. If someone knows any information that could help I would greatly appreciate it. (Note that I have root and am running on stock Touchwiz so I can post a logcat if you need me to, also all of the other Play Music versions worked just fine for me.
P.S. The new update for May 21st did not fix the issue at all.
I, too, have the same problem on all of my devices running the latest version, which range from a Dell Streak on 2.2 through a Note 2, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and HTC One S. I think it doesn't like that I'm in the UK, as it doesn't seem to be device specific.

Well I think that the all access only being available in the us might cause issues for you. I could be wrong though.

That would be silly but make sense.
Luckily, I can roll back updates on some devices. It's not the end of the world because I can still access my music but if I only had one of these and if I wasn't able to, I'd be more than a little upset about it!
For some reason it works just fine on my old Samsung transform ultra.

Ok. So I think they came out with a new update but kept the date in the description the same. I've been using the app all day now with no crashes.

Yes they did. I've checked that it works on my Nexus 4 (as I can uninstall updates) and although it took a long time to let me in the first time, it's working. So that's good. Thank you.
Still not working for me. Does anyone have the pre 15th APK so I can roll back?

There's a leaked Samsung Android 4.4 schedule on the net and it points to January for the S4 and N3. Going by the title at the top of the screenshot/picture it's the international variant S4/N3. US will be even longer. I'm quite pissed about this as these are the flagship devices and should be upgraded MUCH sooner. Thoughts?

Anybody complaining about non nexus devices not getting updates instantly have clearly not been paying attention the last 3 years. January is earlier than I would have predicted.

Not sure how big of a deal KitKat really will be,...
I installed some of the newer files [Email, Calendar, QuickOffice] from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2506623
To get some of the newer available apps, but moving to 4.4 washes away the hard work that Devs [Hashcode, beans, and Hyper] have already invested into 4.3.
I find Root and ROMs much more beneficial than the OS,....for now. De-bloating and customization is key!!
4.4 literally brings no new Ingenuity or function.
give me a break; give me a break; don't break me off a piece of that kit kat rom.

That's not entirely true, it does bring host card emulation to allow NFC devices without a secure element to use Google Wallet.

Doesn't 4.4 officially have like emojis integrated through the entire system? I could have sworn that's what I could have sworn I read. If it's true, that's enough for me to want the update

4.4 also allows you to record what your screen is doing natively. That is actually pretty awesome for helping give instructions on how to install etc.

Maybe they will mess up and leave some sort of exploit in the kernel or something so we can start flashing kernels and recoveries on this thing. Im starting to miss AOSP after a few weeks without my Note 2.....

Still isn't the same as having a bootloader bypass or unlock to truly run aosp.. heck we'd already be on kit kat if we had this that's where i will donate my funds to.

Never buy a locked device expecting aosp. Always assume a locked bootloader will remain that way.

Are you kidding? ART is potentially huge. I'd rather Samsung skip over 4.3 and go straight to 4.4 for this reason.

I really had to think about it when I chose to get the Note 3, but I figure the features on this phone are pretty amazing, and the way its looking is that phones will mostly be locked in the future. ATT is locking theirs, Verizon is locking theirs, Im sure the rest will follow. If two out of the four major US carriers are doing this, there is a good chance that someone will find a way around it. For the time being, we have Hashcode who has found away around the lock for the most part. We just need to get something like Loki or KEXEC working.
My other option was to keep a phone that has outdated resolution, software and hardware..... I had the Note 2 for a year and was ready to move on.

That part was for my Note 2. :cyclops:
We have no one to blame but ourselves. We accept the fact that the US carriers bend us over the barrel and do what they want to us. We accept it everyday by using their services, paying their crazy stupid prices and by accepting their restrictive contracts. Anyone who expects a US Wireless Carrier to offer an update let alone a Samsung update within a reasonable time frame is simply crazy.
The only reason the HTC One is getting it so fast is . . . well they don't have many phones to actually update or are worth updating so they have to keep pushing updates out to stay relevant. Of course the HTC one didn't get 4.2.2 we got stuck with 4.1.2 until we got 4.3. Of course I gave up on my HTC One long ago.

We probably don't have to worry much about bringing it to the Note 3 as I'm sure KK for our phone isn't too far behind. About damn time we see something!

Wouldn't it be a much safer approach to bring this S4 leaked version over to our Note 3? I mean you could be right KK for the Note 3 might be just around the corner, but what if that version of KK has a similar affect as the version that AT&T received, where the update wiped out Root and there was no way to restore it. Maybe that is something that is just going to happen with the Verizon KK update, Root will be lost, and the bounties will raise again. If you ask me, what if we take a look at the S4 KK leaked ROM and see if it is something that can be ported over to the Note 3, maybe it can, maybe there's a way to keep Root and enjoy KitKat.

I guess I don't know about obtaining root on a stock AT&T KK Note 3, but it seems there are plenty of custom, rooted ROMs based off the newest release. Porting a new version of android without the kernel (for those of us using SS) just seems like it'd be a lot of work and a PITA. Admittedly, I don't know much about this stuff so it may be more straight forward than I know.

Would it be possible use a stock KitKat ROM from another carrier such as Sprint, extract the radio, then insert the Verizon radio from S4 leak? I don't know much about ROM building or porting a ROM, but I know you need the correct radios to get it to work properly, maybe if cross-build with what is already available something should work right? and I hope on the retail version side of things...
When you start tweaking like that, it's becomes no longer signed, and then it won't flash. Plus I think the kernel is different, which is an automatic stop, as we can't flash different ones.

I'd think that the biggest issue with porting an S4 ROM to the Note 3 would be S-Pen support. Is that not a concern?
Personally I would try to use a Canadian 4.4 Rom since we have had the update for over a month now up here

SafeStrap ignores the boot.img even if present, so it can't get flashed on a retail N3.
Anything to note on the S4 leak such as root methods and what not?
The note 3 tar was posted on their site and in another thread. No root exploit is publicly available yet.

So what do you guys think will be the next update we will get you think Samsung/Tmobile will bother updating us to the 4.4.4 ??? Or just wait it out and go str8 to Android L ?? Will be interesting to see how Android L Looks once touchwiz is on top
I was wondering the same thing I'm betting we may not get Android L.... It probably makes more sense for Samsung to come out with a Galaxy s6 with Android L....

Same thing I was thinking I don't think the galaxy 5 will ever see Android L or at least for a really long time right before the galaxy 6 comes out.....
I'm guessing that Galaxy F/S5Prime will more than likely get the priority of the updates before the s6 lol
Well there's the 18 month upgrade rule, supposely these carriers follow. So we'll see L, just most likely in the summer or fall 2015 unfortunately.

I'm disappointed we don't even have 4.4 yet, I don't understand how this works. Samsung devs finalize it, and send it off to carriers? And then carriers mess with it? This takes months and months?

No, that won't help either. Even the 4.4.2 ROMs are broken. The devs are trying hard to get the drivers working, but I don't know enough about that stuff to see what exactly is holding them back.

fragmentation is the wrong word, fragmentation implies that android as an entire OS is missing major features and apps are incompatible which is simply not the case, you're thinking of segmentation which is what android is now(back in the 2.2/2.3.3 days you would be right though). With 4.0 android being released, it really blurred the lines between different Android versions and made things very modular as opposed to lets say iOS which is very monolithic, you can not get the latest safari on an older version of iOS, you can however have the latest google now, maps, ect. on a device with 4.0 without rooting and have full functionality for the most part(just missing minor things like "ok google") and unlike iOS, aps built on newer versions of android work on older versions of android unlike iOS where newer apps are incompatible with older versions of iOS
I think an update is required. I have a glitch with the back cover. The current modem is pretty awful. It even makes my phone start up longer. The device even added that T-Mobile 4G LTE screen logo too. I remember it took no time to boot up the S5. Now, it takes mine roughly 30 seconds.

Yes, please let me know. I had my kids ask me about it, but since I am using my Droid DNA (ditched my Galaxy S5 since I can't stand Samsung), I really can't give them a straight answer. It does seem that this PacMan rom is the best out there for this device.
Tap and pay does not show up in my settings so it looks like it's still a no go. They are still working on it over here but no luck yet. All because of the NXP chipset we have for the NFC. Beam worked fine for me but no Tap and Pay.
Sorry for the delay Friday blew up a work and today was the first chance I had to check it out.
