how do i fix my camera on my prime? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

So my Prime's back 8mp camera is messed up. When I use my back camera, all I see is green lines running all across the screen. my front facing camera works fine. When I take a picture using back camera, green lines everywhere, can't see anything, the flash turns on, I can hear the auto focus working, but then it force closes. I believe that it is the cable connecting to the camera is out of place. I tried doing the pinching my tablet on the camera, and it worked, but when I let go, my camera glitches out. But now it doesn't work anymore when I try to pinch the camera.
I'm thinking about opening my tablet and try to reconnect the cable together. Has any1 ever fixed their camera problem? If so, how easy was it to do so.
Thanks!

Had the same problem a while back. Was still under warranty so I sent it in for repair. All I know is that it's a pretty common problem and that it definitely is a hardware issue.

Oh well my tablet I got a year ago on May 1st, so my warranty is expired. Also I unlocked the bootloader so i voided warranty anyways.

Happened to my back camera few days ago. Is there any known fix, outside warranty (bought my device two years ago, so it's not an option)?

I've never had this issue so I'm bot the best to advice. But It should be fixable, you just have to open your prime and do a little mod with the pogo pins, I'm pretty sure there was a thread with instructions for the fix.

[Q] (HELP) Vibrant camera problems!!!!!!

A few months ago i washed my vibrant. dried it out etc. Got it working fine except that the camera was forcing closed all of the time and also caused it to overheat. so long story short i took the camera out and it worked fine except for the camera obviously. i ordered new oem vibrant cameras online and went to put one of them in now i have a weird problem the camera works but the power button doesnt. i was messing around with it and found if the camera board is mounted upside down the power button works and camera doesnt but this obviously wont work seeing that the camera cant mount in that position and still be able to put the phone back together . i know this is really strange and i probably will not find anyone on earth that is having this problem but just thought id throw it out there and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Couple of things, If you have a oem camera and you make it upside down the power button works then there is something that is shorting between there, try using some saran wrap as an insulator and try that to see if that solves the problem. Also, use a magnifying glass and look very carefully. I would guess you will find some of the insulating protective coating (conformal coating) has a scratch leaving something exposed.
Hope that helps
I will try thanks for ur response I needed help beyond my knowing I appreciate it will try later and post back

[Q] SGSIII Smart Stay Issue. Anyone?

I was very excited by the Smart Stay feature of SGSIII but after a few days, experience, my opinion is that it does not work. I set the timeout to 15 sec. The eye flashes in the notification bar but most of the time screen is turned off. I tried staring directly at the front camera. Tried various positions too but no result. And all this is done in a normal lit room. Then I tried removing my specs and then it seems to work. Since I can't do much without them, so no fixed observation. Can anybody help?
do you wear glasses?

Any particular setting? Or particular angle at which you keep your phone? Mine for sure does not work. The eye flashes but then the screen is also turned off.
I have the same issue too. Does anyone know the issue and how to overcome it? Thanks
I get mixed results with it. It works under ideal conditions but I had to extend the dim period to use it in everyday use.
The icon appears to show that the phone is checking for a face and not confirming it saw one. I see it flash even when looking from an angle where I'm definitely out of the camera frame.

Me and a friend we bought s3 and both of us having an issue with smart stay !It works after you open the device for the 15-30 minutes and after that nothing, after the eye appears the screen goes off!We are not wearing glasses!!So any idea what cause that?A possible bug of it?Or any future update will fix it?
you guys running on XXfl2 or whatever it is?
smart stay works really well for me, never has an issue, even at acute angles
It never works for me.
Then again... I'm way to ugly for my phone to stay with me.
Smartphone's R getting to smart I guess.
Works great for me too...
Samsung already stated they are working on improving the feature as it is not yet capable of handling some light conditions, and most glasses.

Works fine for me with glasses, as long as the phone's front camera is pointing right at me.
The flashing eye means its searching for a face; the only indication that it has recognised you is that the screen doesn't turn off.
Same issue!
Yup, facing the same problem. Keep staring at the screen for hours for the damn thing to work. But it just wont. I have tried with my glasses off. Got the same result. The eye appears on the screen twice. The first time it dims the screen, the second time it shuts it off. I have tried different angles, but have finally resigned to my fate, unless XDA/Sammy figure it out!
not working for me 2
I am not wearing any glasses but it simply dont wok tried to change the angels but no luck ... hope it need improvement. This was the main reason to purchase the s3 but....
Mine works quite well, feels like its abit of a battery drain though.

It needs to be a nice distance from your face to pick up your eyes, light is an issue too.
Its a nice feature that has some obvious issues on a 1.X MP camera.

Samsung patented this feature so i guess the app dev is in a bit of danger unless he is not really rich.
Other apps wont be as good either, as smart stay was made with this hardware in mind (namely the camera). Others will have to bend and shape to fit multiple cameras, making detection algorithms not as strong.

Camera button stuck...

Has anyone else experienced an issue with their camera button getting stuck half way down?
I just noticed when I took my case off yesterday that my camera button was stuck along one edge, the edge that borders the black back. The front edge was still sticking up. This position prevents me from a "half-press" of the button for focus (not that that worked well anyways). I've tried to dislodge the button several different ways and nothing has worked.
If anyone else has seen this and fixed it, let me know. If this hasn't happened to you, then be careful because the only thing I can think of that could have caused it is the case.

Dang, that sucks... I guess I'll be heading back to best buy tomorrow to see what they can do. I knew the camera button felt weak, but I didn't realize it was that weak. Oh well.

Strange issue

So when I'm on the phone, my screen will black out.. give you a good example: was talking to my wife this morning about an accident.. I was trying to take a pic while on the phone, but every time I tried to use the camera, my screen kept shutting off.. as soon as I hung up, it worked fine.. not just the camera, anything does this.. this a normal issue, or something worse?

Sounds like the proximity sensor, try playing with it in phone settings

Put it on speaker phone next time. Cause its the sensor. The sensor is next to the speaker on the top of the phone. So next time just put it on speaker phone

You don't have your thumb over the sensor do u? Mine is pretty sensitive as well. If my hand even gets close to the side of the sensor my screen goes black.
This issue has been discussed in the forums before but I can't find the link I was looking for. Apparently this issue w/the proximity sensor was on some, not all, early model HTC EVO 4g LTE's and required you to send bak to manufacture for fix. I have the same issue n this works for me 'most of the time'... Just take your phone away from your ear, in upper lefthand corner wipe screen a few times with thumb/finger. I'm not guaranteeing it will work for you. Like I said, works for me.

[Q] Front and Back camera don't work in MB860 Atrix

I have a motorola MB860 phone and after a repair both frontal and back cameras don't work.
When I touch the camera button the camera app opens but the screen is black. If I touch the shutter button it looks like the picture is taken, but it doesn't save the picture. The flash doesn't work. And frontal camera is the same thing. Only a black screen. The camera app doesn't force close or anything. It opens normally, but cameras don't work.
I tried updating the software of the phone and still the same issue with both cameras.
Do you know if it is a hardware problem? Speakers, microphone, and volume keys work fine. I know they are connected to the flex cable of the front and back camera. So what does that mean?
I just need to know if I need to change the parts or maybe there is something else I can try to fix it. And what are the symptoms of a camera that doesn't work? Should the camera app force close or should it do what I mentioned before? Show a black screen?
Thank you

I would think that cables are well connected. The repair was change of touch screen and display. However, let me know if I am wrong, but I think rear camera and frontal camera are in different cables. So it's weird that both are not working. And I understand that one cable also has the speaker, mic and volume keys. Which they all work. So that is why I'm confused about this.

Rear camera has the vol up and down keys and headphones. Were both cameras working prior to repair?
Sent from my DROIDX using xda app-developers app
Yes they worked before the repair.
What I would really like to know is if that behavior means that the cameras don't work and they need to be replaced. I'm guessing that if the volume keys and headphones are working then the camera must work too. So why does it show a black screen? The app opens, but shows a black screen.

Not necessarily. I had my vol keys not working and my camera and headphone jack still worked. It could be hardware related. But i seriously would double check the connections first. Are any on screen camera buttons showing up or is it just a blank screen?

The fact that the camera app does not force close leaves me feeling very curious. It might be helpful to know what ROM +kernel you are using, and posing the logs might give us a better chance at diagnosing the problem. It's possible that the cables were damaged during the repair, not at the connector end, but around the cameras.
Ok, here is the rom and all phone specs attached in a picture:

Now, I don't know where to get the logs you are telling me about.

I have THE same problem and both cameras stopped working as yours after the replacing the touch screen (digitizer)
---------- Post added at 08:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:16 PM ----------
I used (flash) 3 or 4 different ROMS and it still not working, also i installed differen camera software thought normal apk and recovery too... this doesn't work
Nope, it is a hardware problem. IIRC, both cameras do not share the same flex, but I don't recall if one was connected to the other

Some guys from motofan.ru said that this problem may be becuse of conflict with touchscreen controller on the main board of phone... that why I think that the replacement of touch may be the decision of this problem... But i'm not sure... And now i have no opportunity to find any touch for my atrix...
Also may you tell where did you buy your touch (digitizer) is it original or chinese version
P.S. in my case flash is working fine...
Have you tried reflashing SBF?
