What Galaxy S3 do I have? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just recently received the Galaxy S3 from Verizon. It was a replacement phone for my Droid Bionic that was water damaged. (my fault)
I want to root it and install CM 10.2 or whatever the most stable version is.
I'm having some trouble with what model I have. In system settings it says my model is SCH-I535.
Is my phone a I9300 or a I9305?
Which root tool and recovery works on my phone?

You phone is a SCH - I353, if I am not wrong is the Verizon version of the i9300. you should visit the Verizon forum for your device her on xda.

The hardware inside your phone is very different to the i9300 and any of our firmware, kernels or mods will probably brick your phone.

By the "telus variant", do you happen to mean the SGH-T989D? (check the label under your battery for model number)
If the device model is indeed the SGH-T989D, you should to to that device forum, which is located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1329.
This post is currently in the forum for the GT-I9100, which is a different phone than the SGH-T989D.
Man just do a factory reset... Wipe data and you should be good to go

Try the S3 toolkit - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488
OP.. Are you trying to root ICS or JB on your i9300t? I just did a quick Google search and there are guides out there to root JB on the S3 i9300t.
Here's just one of the ones I clicked on..

Cf root should work for your phone even on ics. At least that's what I've read but most people recommend flashing a stock jelly bean Rom and then rooting from there.

What problem you have to root?
I got a I9300T and all root options for the I9300 work fine. The only difference is that the T model is said to work better on the 850mhz frequency.
But please correct me if I am wrong.

I think the T model prefers the 850mhz, I'm not entirely sure, but the differences are minimal and any i9300 should work on the t model.
Yes there are roms specifically for I9300t which are really all about the radio.
Check out gharrington's 3minit rom in the Android dev section.

All i9300 mods/ROMs should work for i9300t

I'd like to use 4.1.2 BTU MG4 and pref paranoid android 4.2.2
Thanks

Search for googy max's dual boot kernel in the original development thread...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Does that actually work with MG4 4.1.2 when I was in the thread it says clearly that it works on 4.2.2 leak...

Nothing works with 4.2 leaks as there's no kernel source for 4.2.
It works on all sammy 4.1.2 and all AOSP 4.2.2

So I can use it with the 4.2.2 paranoid android and still keep my ROM will it mess up anything with my efs since I'm on MG4 thanks for the reply

It should be fine so long as you don't flash additional basebands from within the second rom.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4
How can I tell if this will do different basebands? And is old root ok for MG4 or is there a updated root sorry for the questions I was fine before MG4 came along I haven't flashed ROMs since
Sent From My GALAXY S3 I9300 via Tapatalk4
You can only have ONE baseband on the phone. Aosp roms don't come with a baseband.
Root as before

Thank you very much for your help I just don't want to screw up my phone I'll root tomorrow after a full charge

The i9300 doesn't have knox. Either you are mistaken or have another model, in which case you've posted in the wrong forum.
