[Q] Thunderboly Upgrade - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am from India using an HTC thunderbolt my rom of CWM is old.
I want too change my rom but the problem is when i update my rom my imei number of the phone and other phone information like my cdma number all get erased so how can i save the my phone information and have a safe update.
I have already taken backup of my current rom.
Help me ..!!!!!!
As i dont want to use this Android 2.2 on CWM again

CWM is the custom recovery and/or its app you use, not the name of your installed rom...
To change your phone/ID/data settings in ICS, write, note, copy down, or use an app of your choice to back up those values (several such apps available, but I highly recommend just writing them down or taking a screenshot). When you've flashed the ICS rom, go to the dialer and dial: ##778# then press send, this will bring up EPST, which you can use to edit those values back to what you had previously. I know EPST is available on santod's custom sense roms,
http://www.forums.infectedrom.com/showthread.php?t=1757
But am unsure whether it's part of the stock rooted ICS sense rom.
Also, I would recommend using 4ext recovery to flash roms with... CWM never worked well for me TBH. The free 4ext recovery updater is available at the dev's site:
http://www.4ext.net/

So long as you are rooted and s-off, you can install any previous radio. S-off is important, because, with s-on, you won't be able to install anything through the bootloader (as radios are supposed to be installed from). If you reboot to the bootloader, you'll see your s-on/s-off status there. Grab a different radio if you like, I recommend the radio combo (by combo, I mean the CDMA and LTE radios together) from the initial ICS update. They too are available at infectedrom. Make sure to check MD5 sums on the radio package(s). Rename the radio package you wish to install to PG05IMG.zip, (that's pee-gee-zero-five-eye-em-gee) place on root of the SD card (upper level of SD, not in a folder), reboot to the bootloader, and follow the prompts, then reboot.

Yes, I'm a huge n00b.

Hi there!
Well, despite the huge warnings in red colors, I installed the official RUU 2.1 update. My HTC Hero is now with 2.1 and works fine, but I would like to install a Spanish language pack (MoreLocale doesn't works). Yes, I know I could wait to the WWE version but... The mistake is done. So, my questions are:
1.- Could I rollback my firmware or try to install a custom rom? How? (I tried Goldcard + Previous version without success)
2.- Could I install a spanish locale?
Thanks in advance and congratulations for the great job you're doing today. How many roms in less than 24h!
This is a so-called 'WE TOLD YOU SO' situation..
But, have you tried an old RUU package?
Yes, and I can't install the previous one. I also noticed that my bootloader version is newer (000004 before, 000007 now).
It's suposed to be possible? (install the prev. Version, I mean)
Maybe with the goldcard method, but not guaranteed it will work.
Ok, I'll try later again, but I'm not sure if this is gonna work, because I tried it twice a while ago.
Thanks!
Good luck
Tried twice with the GoldCard method (I did it well, because it worked when I updated) and I get this error:
Checking Main Version
Update fail!
And in the RUU installer:
Error [140] Error bootloader version (or something like that)
Suggestions?
Wait for someone who is able to root the new rom...sorry...

hi, i'm just a noob like you, i had to do the goldcard method, it didn't work the first time, but to make sure i was following the tutorial, i had to print it, and follow again, and then it worked, make sure you pick up the right one for your phone. and start from the beginning again , i'm sure you'll get it to work at the end, don't give up. just go through what you doing step by step, you'll find what was wrong.
Ok, I'm trying right now. Will post results.
Thanks!
hi, i've loaded my first custom rom,the new villainRom 10, wow the phone is very quick, plus pinching the main screen the new feature, great.
first i didn't know which rom to use, had to go with what btdag got. all the credit goes to him on a great tutorial plus villainRom great rom.
downloaded the new radio, haven't installed it yet. got to do more reading first before i do, to be on the safe side. goodluck uniyah hope you got it sorted.
cheers to all the devs and tutors
Well, I tried the GoldCard method for 15 times. It just doesn't works. I think it checks the version and give me this error.
One question: Is possible to install the Spanish locale?
For now it's just impossible to root the new 2.1 because nobody has done it yet so for now you will have to wait... However, the Sprint Hero had been rooted a few days ago so I think that it won't take ages to root our Hero...
Try MoreLocal in the market for installing Spanish...
MoreLocale doesn't works.
So, there is nothing I can do for downgrade? Any other Goldcard methods or something like that?
I don't think so... In my opinion some guy will find a way to root the new rom but you will have to wait...
As you have seen Gold card doesn't work...So the protection against root has changed...
New HBOOT probably denies installation of lower version than it already is on the phone, thats why you can't run any of the previous RUUs. Tough luck
Rooted 2.1 official rom's are out now try vilain 10 but be careful when flashing the radio because i just bricked mine flshing it :'(
Brrr, and I can't get into recovery mode. I get this when I try to put the phone in recovery mode (Power + Home button)

[Q] PB81

Anyone, any ideas?
Quite some time ago, when HD2 was brand new, there were some people around with unofficial beta-ROMs on their devices. Don´t exactly know what was going on, but I am quite sure the search function will bring this or that into light for you.
Maybe flashing with a Goldcard might help, not sure. But apparently, your SPL seems to face troubles, no wonder you´ve got freezes etc.
Did you try to flash something older than the 3.14 stock ROM? A lot of users are not happy with this anyway...
Also, older SIM cards or some SD cards can cause issues, did you try to flash without those in the device?
I flashed all three ROMs which are available to download at HTC Website via RUU and direct from SD-Card. I also tried to install all SPL which are available from Bepe and Cotulla. I got the Security Unlocked line away on top but the freezing problems are ongoing as before.
Actual I have two HD2s, both are from same Provider with same SIM-lock but with different SIM-Unlocks. I did a photo of Boot Screen and this shows the difference. I have actual on both last Stock ROM.

And here is picture from non-working HD2
As you can see, the difference is in first line "PB 81100" and "PB 81***" I think I have to improve here but not glue how to???
Update:
And now it becomes really strange. I already flashed the strange phone with Stock ROM from SD-Card so you can see above. After that I did a flash with latest ARTEMIS ROM and SSPL_RUU and the following Boot Screen appears
So before flashing there was SPL 3 on phone, while flashing there was SPL1.42.6666 on phone and after flashing there is SPL 3 again on phone???

Sir, SSPL works only for 1 (one) cycle. After you reboot the phone, your SPL will return to the original one (the one before SSPL).
SPL 1.42.6666 is only a temporary SPL modifying your actual/original SPL.
Cheers
Good, good, good ... but the question is --> How do I come from PB81*** to PB81100?

I forget the link, but I read somewhere in this forum, that PBxxxx represents the region of the phone. I think you flash unsuitable rom. In other words, the rom is not for your phone.

As I wrote above (maybe bad english), I flashed both mobiles with latest Stock-Rom (downloaded from htc.com/de) via, SD-card. Both mobiles were sold from same Mobile provider in austria with same SIM-lock. But, they were un-SIM-locked differently. Now, one is working smoothly (the one with PB81100) and one freezes almost (the one with PB81***) and GPS is working really, really badly in comparison to the other one.
EDIT: GPS is completly NOT working on device with PB81*** on Boot-Screen :-(

hi,
i have also an htc hd2 from "3" in austria.
i flasht it to hspl 2.08 without any problems.
but! since i let it unlock it in a mobile-store here in vienna.
the model ID- is now "PB81xxxx".
and now: it is not possible to flash it back.
here are the pics:
pocketpc.ch/htc-hd2-rom-upgrade/126754-sim-sntsperren-kein-flashen-mehr-moeglich.html#post990530
it seams the cnaged the model _ID during unlocking.

Flyer 3G Honeycomb: GSM Phone call

I would like to share my little experience while I was trying to enable the phone call feature on my honeycomb flyer 3G.
Here are the results: (check the screenshots for a better comprehension)
After rebooting...
1- the phone application appear in my list of applications
2- the phone GUI doesn't look perfect (the numbers are on the top of the letters)
3- I made a call and they answered but I couldn't hear them! and They couldn't hear me as well! (A red flash "WRONG" appear in the bottom of the screen while calling)
4- I asked them to call me back, nothing appeared during the calling time, but later on, a small missed call icon appear at the bottom of the screen.
Conclusion:
the problem consist in the following:
1- The sound and the speaker are not working
2- the GUI interface doesn't look perfect
3- no popup (neither a ring tone) while receiving a call. Only a missed call icon appear in the bottom after the call.

Yes, I've made and received several calls since.
Be aware that unlike Gingerbread there is no Settings interface to change the ringtone, you have to use an app to do it (most music players will allow this).
The resource IDs in the dialer are also still wrong and there is no Call button (you have to make outgoing calls via the contacts list or the past calls list, not the dialer itself). Of course you can now just install any dialer from the Market and it should work.

Stuck on white screen on HTC Flyer 3g Asia WWE
Hi, Sorry to break in.., i just bought an HTC Flyer 3G P510e and in pursuit of getting the best out of it i think i've got it bricked.
I unlocked, downgraded to GB, S-OFF ed and rooted the device to activate the phone features. In the process intalled Revolutionary Recovery and all that. After activating the phone feautes i wanted my Honeycomb again and used RUU_3G_B09 to upgrade to Honeycomb but the phone features were not working , it had the problem same as explained in this thread and i decided to go back to Gingerbread. I went straight to backup and restore to restore and earlier Gingerbread backup i made.. since then i have been stuck with this htc white screen and the device wont stay off when i long press the power button. I tried other previous backups but all failed. I run my old GB RUU; RUU_3G_B09 but it made matters worse beacuse the revolutionary recory page does not appear again..I am in Ghana and there are not such experts here, Please i need help to get the device working again.

You can't just go back to GB once you've started the process of moving to HC. There are boot files that aren't compatible with both versions. If you can get into FASTBOOT you can unbrick yourself, but it'll take maybe an hour or two of work.

You did such a wrong thing to post in the development section :banghead:
If you had 1.53.007 hboot, you have the official ics ota, that means you already have latest radio installed
You also have s-off, but im not sure about your bootloader, is that the jopunoutbear hboot?
If so you should be able to flash your beloved cm10.1 and all other roms without problems
If not downgrade it to a 1.49 hboot and flash your Rom afterwards
Try to make a factory reset and reflash any rom, to check whether your problems are still there or gone
Or try a different sdcard, maybe jopounutbear has corrupted it, wouldnt be the first time...
my bootloader is firstly locked , i unlocked it with htc dev and after switch-off it becomes jopunoutbear...
friend its my first time,i m still change my radio only and that's happen further i requried to change hboot, now i never want to flash any new rom ,can u tell me how to go back with latest radio and without problems...
again thks for reply...
but now i do my work done.. with the help of pg86img.zip and cid changing, i change my hboot to 1.49.0007 and afterwards i upgrade my system to 4.0.3 ,,now my bootloader is locked but system has switch-off.... again thkss thkss
i think post was completed ....

Should I treat the bootloader unlocked version of att htc one as the same as the international, or should I only install stuff from the att htc one forum?

I am running ARHD 7.0 with no issues at all, however I did flash the latest radio posted in the international forum, this was prior to learning that there is really no reason to at this point. Attempted to roll back to the backup of the original radio.img that I captured prior to upgrading (just for comparison purposes), however my build number still shows 1.29.401.12. My question is, is the build number derived from the ROM and the baseband version derived from the radio.img?
Correct.
got it, thanks. that explains why my baseband is not changing, its the same radio lol
Have any of you had any issues regarding flashing a rom? I have been reading some of the rom threads and it seems some have issues with Aroma or the rom's flash, however, then they cannot get their phones to boot. I want to flash one but I do not want to have any of those issues, as I already had a problem with recovery.
I sometimes have trouble with aroma with my HTC DNA, which is similar to the One. With me it sometimes freezes if I don't hold the device straight. Why... I have no idea. However, when this does happen I return to recovery via the pwr+vol and redo the process. It doesn't hurt anything for me just takes a bit longer. I've ordered the one and I'm definitely planning on flashing all types of stuff when out gets here Wednesday God willing. Just be sure to backup. That's saved me countless times.

Wait, when you select wipe data in order to flash arhd, doesn't it wipes firmware too?
I mean when you flash arhd that has latest firmware, your baseband still says 1.26 instead of 1.29?
How is that? Confused
So we can flash all the roms and kernels in there thread ?
