I apologize if this topic has already been discussed but I have tried searching the forum with no luck.
I own an LG Optimus 2X (P990) bought from Germany, currently it's on 2.3.4 V20E and would like to update to ICS.
I could not get the software update OTA so I tried downloading the LG Updater software from LG directly.
The software detects the phone and says an update is available but when I cilck on the update button and let it run, at some point, a popup appears suggesting to make a backup. So far, everything is fine. Once the backup is done and I click the "Start upgrade" button, I get this error message : "An Unsupported operation has been attempted"
Has anyone ever seen this before? Could this be due to the fact that the phone is from Germany and I am in the UK or is there another way to upgrade the phone without using the LG software?
Thank you
dglad
I get the same problem over here, also with the p990. I am really annoyed by it... Hope someone can help us out.

So I have an Optimus T 509 Titanium. I was informed there was an update so i downloaded it. I told it yes to update. Now it seems to be stuck. It displays the LG Logo Then displays the updating screen briefly before immediately Re-Booting.It does this continuously.
Does anyone know what might have happened or how to fix it. The phone is completely stock no mods, not rooted. Hard Reset does not work and emergency mode does. I tried KDZ updater but i get a model ID error when trying the Optimus 500. I spent most of the day looking for the proper one every time I tried one of these http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/ezlooks_model_list.jsp?model=LGP509 Using the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865479 i got an error.
Edit's: changed the title to be more specific. The update in question was the v10L update i do believe. Got another one. It seems that a antivirus program called look out cause the problem. It seems the program also prevents rooting the phone.
Looks like it's LG's fault. If I were you I'd have it warranty repaired.
On a side note, I think that's a boot loop. I'm no expert, so others may be able to help in a while.
Gonna have it replaced. But this seems like something that should be addressed, I see multiple accounts of OTA causing brick on this phone. Since I can't use the LG Update either(for some reason my isp blocks it same with M$ Live services).. so this is, aside from rooting the phone the only way to get updates for me. I mainly think my failure was because of lack of availability of stock firmware. It also seems theres no way to get stock back without a factory firmware either. I'm all for tweaking but not if i can't fix it if something goes wrong.
ok, so a month or two ago I rooted my Motorola Atrix so I could install Gingerblur which went well at first. It was working great for me and then I noticed that once and a while i would look at my hone and see an exclamation point and an android icon..I would have to pop the batter out and put it back in to restart...what I think happened is that my phone tried installing an automatic update which failed maybe due to my hacked phone not being compatible...bc after awhile I would notice my phone installing an update and then automatically rebooting to the error screen.
I tried installing GreyBlur the other day..and it didn't work well..so I flashed back to 1.5.6..but now I don't know how to upgrade to 1.8.3..when I scan for a system update it says that my phone is up to date..how can I update to the latest firmware and how come my phone isn't automatically installing it? Have I lost my opportunity to do this since to all the hacking I've done to my phone? or am I missing something? please help =(
Have you tried downloading it from the Motorola website? You should be able to just follow the directions on there to update it.

I used the "second method" and just let the Moto installer do it's thing. It will take some time and look like it may be freezing occasionally, but just let it go. It should work.
Hope this helps.

I'm updating right now through the second method. I'm surprised I didn't find that sooner..I should of just went to the website to begin with..but I searched google and couldn't find any information on how to download it without going through an automated update.
I was also wondering if I should do a factory reset after updating
Hey everyone,
I know there are countless threads on this but I've been up all night going through pages and pages of info and trying virtually everything that each post said to no avail, so I thought I'd just make a new thread and see if anyone can help me.
Okay, so, I had a rooted L9, with locked bootloader, on stock JB before I started any of this. Yesterday, I decided that I wanted to put Cyanogenmod 11 on it, yet, I have only managed to soft brick it.
Basically, it's stuck at the Security Error screen. I can get it into the S/W upgrade mode, however, when I do that and open the LG support tool the program just crashes. The Windows "not responding" error pops up, and the program closes. I have no idea why this is happening now, because the program was working fine before, but anyways, yeah. I have the shttps thing running in the background, and the connection is successful. I tried doing the offline fix countless times, but no luck. I have the UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe file, too, that I've been trying to use, however, as you all know, it just opens the lg program when you click on "upgrade start" and the program crashes. I tried doing the software upgrade through the exe file, but it doesn't find the port. Device Manager tells me the L9 is on port 9, but it looks on port 1 or 0, and doesn't find the L9.
I think that's basically it, and, if anyone can help me at all it would be very much appreciated (I don't really want to have to buy a new phone!)
If it is a security error than I think it would be easier to fix it from omap4boot mode with unofficial fastboot. Its a thread in this forum.

I just got a new Lg G2 (Verizon) from insurance today and have been attempting to root it all day. At first I tried to the standard ioroot method, and as soon as the phone was supposed to enter stock recovery the Lg logo would show and the phone would then boot into the picture of an android with his chestplate open and a red triangle saying "no command". I tried several times. No change in results. I even tried factory resetting the phone. Same results (I am on 4.4.2 fyi). I couldn't find anybody else with a similar problem so I assumed maybe there was just an issue with my computer. So next I tried towelroot which many claim should work on all versions of the G2. When I click the "make ra1n" button it simply says "this device is not supported". Did they send me some new version of the G2 that for some reason isn't supported? Or has Lg implemented some software change to keep users from rooting? I have no idea what the problem could be. Any ideas what the issue could be/how I can fix it? I just want to install cyanogenmod
Ive got a brand new phone I wanted to get rid of the bloatware from my carrier. So I rooted it via kingroot, installed Titanium Backup and went to town. Then an OTA update came in and I accepted it, it seems that the phone battery died during the update installation.
Now I get a "no command" message with the android on its back. All the googling Ive done points me to do a hard factory reset via recovery, which I do but I still keep getting the same message.
Is there some software specifically for LGs that I could unbrick it with? I own several Nexus devices and a OnePlus and wugfresh toolkit has helped tons.
To add to the problem, I cant find much about it. Its a Mexican model called LG Zone or X180g. From the Googling ive done, Ive come to the conclusion that is called LG Ray in other markets.
I really appreciate your help

You can try to see if they have it. I don't think there is anywhere free to get the firmware. But yea, that was a big pair of screw ups between taking the OTA after rooting and having removed system apps as well as letting it die while trying to update. That's bad on any type of device. Since it is a MTK device, you'll have to use a version of the Flash Tool as it is different than most LGs, which use Snapdragon processors.
