I was having trouble getting android to boot and I was getting a message that said that the phone needed a restore. I downloaded the emergency recovery build for VRUEMJ7, the build I was on and flashed it with 3.09. I got a good flash notification in Odin but when it reset everything is black, phone doesn't come on at all (at least the screen). I tried a different battery and when you plug it into a computer it gets a USB device connected sound. Did I kill the phone? Any way to get it back into ODIN download mode so I can try the flash again or get it to come on?
What could I possibly try? Thanks for any suggestions.

No matter what I hold down on the phone it doesn't seem like the screen ever comes on. You can tell it's doing something because when you plug it into the computer it makes a USB device connected sound. It hasn't been damaged or anything like that either, so it has something to do with what happened when it was flashed, however it said it was successfully flashed on the phone and ODIN before it restarted...
99% u hard bricked it... Did the same thing on my own S4 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539877
I Tried everything posible... but the phone was dead! No download mode no recovery mod...
At the end JTAG solved my problem, cost me about 35$ here in europe...

My buddies phone just starts up to a black screen after the galaxy S boot screen. I've tried getting into recovery but it does not work. This phone was completely stock, so I'm assuming it was on 2.1 eclair. I tried odining back to stock but thats not working either, also the only way i was able to get it into download mode was by doing the method explained for HWL phones. I cant even get adb to recognize the phone cuz i can't turn on debugging, anyone have any ideas?
Use odin v1.3 . With the cable pluged into the computer and the phone off plug the usb into the phone while holding both volume buttons . That should get you into dl mode . Just flash back to stock .

That's what I did still not working, the phone was stock yo begin with, that's why I'm so confused, any way to wipe the phone? Our does using odin quotes the phone already? I tried adb but since the phone is not booting up all the way its not being recognized by the computer

Do it again and click repartition . But it important you use v1.3

ok i did all that, and its still going to black screen... tried several times all using 1.3
Did you use both files .tar and .pit

What exactly happened to make the phone that way?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
no idea, he said things started force closing all of a sudden, then it stopped booting up properly... he said he didnt root or anything, so the phone was completely stock...
and yeah i used both the pit and tar files
I have CWM 3.0.8, and want to get back to the red recovery, so that I can flash a new rom on my fascinate. The problem is, that I can not for the life of me get my phone to show up on Odin. I have tried on two different computers. I have used Odin on both computers for this phone, so the drivers are all installed. Any ideas? The rom I have now is a force close nightmare. I would like to get back to something that is stable.
Thanks for any help,
Brad

Ive used odin before, I just cant get the fascinate to be detected by the computer. It wont even mount the sd card via the usb cable to transfer files. I got the phone in download mode, connected to the computer through the usb cable, but can not get the yellow "added" dialog in odin so that I can flash the .tar file...
Thanks for the help so far,
Brad
Maybe a stupid question but do you have Odin open before you plug the phone in.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
You can also try to reinstall drivers or even odin check to see that you have odin 3 1.3 and maybe reinstall odin it can be found here in one of the forums.
I have tried it both ways, going into download mode, then opening odin, and first opening odin, then going into download mode.
Now, I have another problem. I was able to do a data wipe, which stopped the force close loop. I was then able to get my phone workable at least. Then, while resetting everything, I dropped it on my coffee table and the touch screen will not respond. The phone's soft keys work fine and i can turn it on, but have to do a battery pull to turn it off. I have tried turning off/rebooting, and again doing a data wipe. I don't know what else to do other than take it in, but I don't think that is possible since it is rooted
So I was on Paranoid Android 2.54 and changed to the newest SlimBean ROM in the usual fashion and that went fine but then I flashed SiyahKernel 5.0.1 and my phone would boot, but it would get to the home screen and repeatedly say 'com.android.phone has crashed' and the only thing I could do was turn it off. After I turned it off, I tried booting into recovery and that didnt work (and still doesnt a few hours later). I then tried booting into download mode and using this guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458 to recover it, but to no avail. Now the phone won't do anything at all. No recovery, no download mode, no nothing. Plugging the charger in doesn't make a difference either. So my question now is is my phone recoverable?
try a jig.
If it doesn't fly..jtag time.
Try usb jig and yes it is recoverable

here.
Or make your own jig or have it made.
I have an um-rooted samsung galaxy player 3.6 (running gingerbread 2.3.6) I was browsing an app when suddenly it crashed! the battery was low, so at first I thought to plug it in, but before I did, I noticed that it was rebooting every 4-5 seconds. plugged it in, took out battery, tried putting in recovery (put bat. back in, hold power and both volume buttons) but it vibrates and just goes back into boot loop. it pops up with the samsung logo, stays for 3 or so seconds, screen goes dark, then it does it again.
I have been messing with it. when it starts booting, my computer recognizes it as OMAP3630 which google has told me is the name of the processor. It tries to install drivers but fails due to "umplugged device" when it turns off
Weird! If you have data to recover try using adb logcat to see what's going on. Otherwise reflash with Odin. I have only experienced this problem when using heimdall to flash my us yp-gs1, but it happens right after flashing.
What app were you using when it happened?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
a Forum app. It has not been flashed either. it is all stock 2.3.6 gingerbread. if i put the battery in then plug it in (without hitting any power buttons) it goes to a loading circle (that does not move at all) and just stays there. the computer does not recognize it in this state. its only 3 months old, but I have no idea where the recipt is!
weird! im sticking with my answer tho, if you want to fix it then put it in download mode and flash it
if you cant get to download mode then buy a $2 usb jig
Tried it! no luck. got it in download mode. ran odin and It said pass! BUT it only took 3 seconds? and then instead of flashing just samsung then rebooting, it started flashing samsung with a caution symbol under it and rebooting. went to do it again and it says suctom binary current binary:custom. so it seems it worked but did not fix my problem
Did you flash normalboot and factoryfs both?

I had a similar problem with the galaxy player 5.0. Took out my micro sd card from it and somehow that worked. Hasn't gone on any reboot cycle since.
I was gonna try the fs whatever one, but now i cannot get my computer to recognize it! i tried another factory reset and that didnt help. i got it to work once. Guess I will have to keep trying? I got school so I cant do it now (16, junior in High school)
yep you'll need to get to download mode to flash it. like i said before, a $2 usb jig will always do the trick (i loooove mine)
I dont have any problem getting it into download mode, my problem is getting the computer to recognize it. gonna have to try it on a dif computer I guess, which is weird, because I got it to work once, but now it wont. I flashed the normalboot the first time, what did i do wrong? should I have flashed the other (fs or whatever is is) one instead? thanks for the help!
When I'm in a bootloop after heimdall testing I need to flash factoryfs. For you I would say flash both. Try another cable/ try another USB port

Hello everyone
I have a few years old Galaxy S2 9100 that had the original firmware and rooted. The battery was about 20% and it restarted by itself and was stuck on the Samsung logo. I tried to make it work by no hope. I then tried to enter recovery mode but it gave me an error. I then entered download mode and tried to reflash original firmware through Odin but it was stuck at around 40%. I did it again and same thing happened. After that it was completely dead and won't turn on. I can't enter download or recovery mode. When I connect to computer, it gives nothing. When I plug it into the charger, it becomes hot on the top but nothing appears. Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks
Well

Try this:
- Take the battery out
- Fully Charge the battery via any battery charging device
- Place the battery back
And check if it's turning on -=-=-=-=-=-
If yes:
- Check if PC recognizes device i.e. USB port is working now or not
- Go to download mode if it's working and do the odin flashing with fresh files and right settings
- And if it's due to the odin flashing prob from your side, try sideloading custom rom and flash it.
If no:
- Go to service centre
Well, this is just me, maybe wait for other comments too.
Try this:
Find a way to fully recharge the battery. Then, reboot into recovery regardless if it's stock or custom and wipe data completely. Then reboot. It will take sometime but the phone should reboot to factory default. Be patient! If this fails, you need not worry. Just repost here ok

Thanks all for your input. Currently it does not go into recovery. Do you think if the battery is full charged it will?
Try charging the battery. What have you got to lose?

Actually I went to a phone shop and tried a new battery which usually contains some charge and it did not help. I will leave it overnight in the charger and see. Thxs
Try other battery...or try usb jig.
You might want to try a USB jig. It is like a usb flash drive. Its job is to put your phone into download mode. You can order it from amazon for about 3 bucks

I also had the same problem. The USB jig resolved it in 2 seconds

Was it exactly the same problem as mine? I mean dead phone with no response whatsoever?
I tried the USB jig and did not help. Maybe it needs the battery to be fully charged?
