I have noticed that I can shut down my phone, plug it into a charger and, when it reaches full charge, the phone starts up. I am using the kernel that came with TACHYON.
Is there a way to prevent this?

This is a function of your recovery, not the kernel, when the phone is off... What recovery are you using?

Try flashing TWRP 2.6.3.0, might be a bug in CWM.

Try removing the battery completely, then hold down the down volume key and plug the USB cord in and don't let go until it's in download mode. Then replace the battery into the phone. This method has always worked for me. Hopefully it does for you too

Usually takes 10 seconds lol yeah make sure the computer has Samsung drivers installed and try the OEM USB cord. Although I have used non OEM cords before and worked just fine... I'm very very surprised that taking the battery out, then holding the down key and plugging in simultaneous didn't work.

You do know there's an edit button on your posts right?
For some reason my phone keeps rebooting while I'm trying to flash a new. I even wipe everything prior to. I have it happen on both ukb 1.3 and codis 1.1. Both of them reboot during the middle of the aroma installation and never at the same point. I ended up having to restore my backup which worked fine. I'm using twrp 2.4.0.0 for my recovery.
Anybody have any ideas?
I'm going to try flashing cwm later tonight to see if that fixes it.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
Try using the hardware buttons to make you selections in aroma.
Nope that didn't help. I made it through the menu of choices this time, which I have been able to do before. It still locked up during the installation process. I am also on cwm recovery to see if that was the problem. That didn't help either.
Some people have had to try 10-20 times :/

Okay will try. Does that have something to do with the aroma installer?

Just keep doing it, it'll work eventually. I've noticed if you don't touch the options quickly, it'll freeze.

Finally after about at least 20 tries it worked and the faster you pick your options the better chance you have. Thanks

I've had this happen both on CWM and TWRP....
Both while backing up or installing a rom. It will go for about 15-30 seconds and reboot...unless it's plugged in...battery is at 80 percent....
Totally makes no sense....any idears?

I tried another time, I mounted system before running anything. It worked. Not sure if it was a fluke, but try it, get back to me if it works.

Ditto, TWRP 2.4.0.0 beta touch in my case.
I should be able to fix this. Look tonight for an update if my testers approve it.
EDIT: Well none of my builds work so can't

Welllll, we'll seeeeee if it continues.
Basically wiped everything, including the ROM I was about to flash without backing up first. I'm using a computer that runs only Ubuntu so I don't think I can use RUU. The device won't go anything past the loading screen and I've no idea what to do.
Can you get to recovery by power off til phone flashes and turns off then hold power and volume .

what rom are you flashing?
There must be something that I'm missing with the Note 2 and Note 3.
Rooted stock, then went to Bonsai, then back to rooted stock.
I made a backup each time in TWRP. I tried restoring my backup of Bonsai tonight, but it fails. Tried reflashing the rom (same file I used last time), and it boot loops. Tried using the rooted stock backup, and it fails.
Tried reinstalling stock root rom, and it bootloops. Tried another rom, and it boot loops.
I wipe after every install and restore attemp, and wipe cache and dalvik after each.
I had the exact same issues on the note 2. Any suggestions or ideas? I'm ready to go back to HTC or something...
I still can't get my phone to boot....I also noticed that when in recovery I cannot mount usb storage....wtf
Downloaded the stock file to flash through odin and it's failing....whats the deal with these phones...
Is there anyone here who can help.......
When you say the stock file, do you mean the MJ4 tar file? If that doesn't work, you might try one of the older files and see if that works and then flash mj4 again.. Outside of trying that, not to sure. You might try sending that guy freeza a message, he seems to be the go to guy for this phone.

It turns out that TWRP did something with my efs backup and that caused the problems. I found a script that I flashed in recovery and now it's working again. Flashed back to bonsai but my lock screen isn't working and I don't have a power menu. Any suggestions or files that I would need to flash for this?

Sounds like factory mode triggered by efs problem. Search for this, I've seen posts to fix it temp/perm I'm 100% sure of this. Go look same fix will likely apply.
