4.2.2 is way older! the imei issue definitely raises after flashing it when downgrading from the roms released after july! samsung currently paused the 4.3 firmware for S3 and will resume sometime later!

can i try android hd based on 4.3?? is it still contains the bugs raised in stock tw 4.3??
or else can i try 4.2.2 with flashing mg2 modem.
thank you!!

Download ktool to back up your efs so you can restore if you lose your imei also install i file manager and run it under root and copy the whole efs folder just for good measure then back all this up to your computer

back up your efs every time before flashing. go through this link for any imei queries: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2393289
yes you can flash 4.3 based roms. they will have issues but minimized by the developers. no custom rom should be expected to be 100% perfect as the base itself has some bugs(you know). good luck

Rom
just flash rom and wipe it is easy

[Q] Battery shake retain

Hi,
I downloaded I9100XWLS8_I9100FOPLS3_FOP official rom that i have install on my galaxy s2 with wiped cache and data (new fresh install)
I rooted galaxy with Siyah-s2-v6.0b4 using oding + install triangle away since google apps.
I noticed 2 bugs, when i'm charging, when i press and retain scroll with one finger, screen shaking.
And when i'm unlocking s2 on home screen it's seems laggy.
There is a way to patch it without installing custom rom ? (I wanna prefer use offficial ICS)
How i can fix it ? Where i can report these bugs ?
Thank you for your replies

That rom is JB, not ICS so if you prefer ICS you need to flash different rom.
Its not a bug and if it was you would report it to samsung.
Try formatting /system in cwm and then re-flash rom.
First of all you are not using official ICS.
You are on official Jellybean, bugs are to be expected since this a new firmware. All the bugs will be solved as soon as more versions of jellybean come out. You will need to be patient or
If you want more stable firmware, you will need to downgrade to ICS.
oops

Did you read what I wrote?
Its a official rom, If you want to report a bug email Samsung.
I didnt have this issue in stock sammy JB or a custom rom based on it like Wannam lite.
As I said earlier try formatting /system partition via CWM and then re-flash rom.
You could also try Siyah kernel v6 beta 4 or even a custom rom based on JB like Wannam lite.
bug confirmed

From MG4 ROM to Cyanogen 10.1

Hi guys,
I have a question. I have an S3 with the MG4 ROM and I want to upgrade it to Cyanogen Mod 10.1 (Android 4.2.2)
How can I do that safely? Because, from what I've seen, if I leave this ROM, I won't be able to use my phone for calls, texts, since the EFS partition has changed.
Thanks in advance

Its not if you leave the rom. Its if you change the baseband to an older one. Flashing CM will fine as it does not change the baseband Just be aware that stock roms with older basebands will need you to reflash the MG4 or newer basedband.
I wrote a whole thread about this in General > Sticky roll up

So.. basically I can't flash an older ROM, as it changes the baseband. That's just it?

No. You CAN flash an older ROM, but if it comes with an older baseband, you must then flash a newer baseband. Its all covered.

[Q] Should I upgrade EFS?

Hi,
I'm currently running Paranoid 3.97 (I think), but the phone is currently acting up. I'm stuck in the loading screen, so I thought perhaps I could use the chance to flash a more recent rom. I can't remember the exact baseband version, but it uses "EFS 1".
When flashing newer roms, such as Temasek's 4.4 or CM10.2 stable, would I have to upgrade to EHF 2 first? If so, would I need to flash a stock rom first, so as to upgrade the EFS, and then flash a new baseband (if not already included in the stock rom)?
If I don't have to, are there any real benefits of doing so? Or should I just use the EFS and baseband I am currenly on and forget about it?
If no to the above; would it make sense to flash the latest stock rom anyways (I guess 4.1.2 with EHF2) or is that just a waste of time?
Thank you in advance for any assistance!

AOSP roms do not touch modem/baseband and efs.
You'll fine.
"Trouble" lies in stock roms newer than MG4 (inclusive)
Thank you for clarifying.
Would there otherwise be any benefits of upgrading EFS and baseband?

None at all.
Allright, thanks again. I'll let it be, then!

[Q] From Official 4.3 I9300XXUGMK6-DBT to AOSP/AOKP

Hello.
I had problems with my EFS folder and IMEI.
Now i got it all back and running the Official Android 4.3 Firmware I9300XXUGMK6-DBT
But now i want to go back to custom roms ( Paranoidandroid ).
With the update to EMG4 Android changed the EFS folder.
That was the problem why i lost my IMEI.
What can i do, to get custom roms back !?
Everytime i flash ParanoidAndroid i dont get MobileNetworks.
nobody can help?

In my experience, if you are back and running then search for efs backup/restore programs and backup your efs with as many of them as you can. Save them on your computer as well! Since you are on 4.3 and on the MG4 modem or newer, you are free to flash any custom rom you want, just dont flash a 4.1.2 custom rom or even a 4.2.2 as they will cause problems with your imei. Flash only 4.3 or higher

rooted S3, is it safe to downgrade from 4.3 to 4.1.2?

I'm currently using Revolution HD V52 (4.3) on my rooted s3, TWRP recovery, boeffla's kernel. used to be on 4.4 before it as well.
I plan to go back to omega V50.1 rom, which is based on 4.1.2. but before i do, can i make a downgrade from 4.3 to 4.1.2? will do a full wipe of Course & fresh install. I'm worried about EFS problems etc...anyone have an idea if it's safe or not possible and will brick phone?
Provided the rom base is EMG4 or later then efs is same version.
Backup efs then format internal sd card and preload as well as your normal wipe.

I don't know what it's based on to be honest, don't know how to check this.
this is the current rom's official page.
& here's the official page for the new rom i want (v50.1).
also, I'm currently using boeffla's kernel for 4.3. when i make full wipe and install the new rom, it will be back to stock kernel? i think it does, just want to be sure (forgot).
i second the question. S3 gained little-to-nothing with the 4.3 update, so i want to roll back to 4.1.2 too

you can backup the efs, I myself never had any problems with upgrading or downgrading.
you can follow the following tutorial to backup the efs, in case something does go wrong
android.gs/backup-galaxy-s3-efs-one-click/
why you wanna go from 4.3 to 4.1.2 ?

from my experience, 4.1.2 was very stable, worked great, no bugs, no lags.
4.3 buggy as hell
4.4 just doesn't feel right in general, something always isn't working, camera is crap etc...
from 1 days experience on 4.1.2, I'm happy i downgraded. it isn't the fastest or shiniest, but it's stable and everything is working just fine, good enough for me.

Have you tried Archi 1x ROM? Rock solid and stable as anything. Ive been using it for nearly a year now and not had any issues. give a try before going back to 4.1.2...you wont be disappointed. lots of option in Aroma to personalize the ROM to your needs.

I did, for a long time. then moved to version 2.X of it.
i tried nearly every rom for my SGS3 in the past 2 years, non of them was stable and sufficient as omega 4.1.2! at least in my experience.
second day with omega rom, and it's rocking, no bugs, no crashes, everything is working just perfectly (so why change it? :silly.
