Get Flash on KitKat - Nexus 10 General

As I wait for news to get AOSP browser and flash back on N10 before I update to kitkat, I stumbled on this...
http://wccftech.com/enable-flash-player-in-android-4-4-kitkat/
Anybody willing to try it?
edit: Also, here; http://www.phonearena.com/news/Here...e-Flash-support-in-Android-4.4-KitKat_id49851
I may just pull the trigger now, I can get over the Phablet Settings. Now to find AOSP browser....
2nd edit: My bad, already posted on xda...I only frequent Nexus 10 bits. Sorry http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47958533#post47958533

Brilliant works great thanks

I followed the instructions, and so far the links to flash content have been working. On some of them it gives a warning of incorrect flash version, but still plays.
I guess that learning to use and like Dolphin is in the works. Xscope is my browser of choice, or at least has been.
Thanks for posting this.

Mozilla Aurora, flash issues!

Hey people of xda
so i just got my GNexus a few days ago and im totally back into the android scene already! Gots me some AOSP rom on it and root
Anyways, i tried out firefox / fennec now that my phone should be quick enough to use it properly (unlike my G1 ) and i realized it doesnt support flash. So according to mozilla wiki, it is only supported on 2.3, and on a bugreport i read that it isnt planned to be supported on 3.0 / 4.0, due to adobe dropping support on flash.
Anyways, i am wondering how hard it would be to get ICS supported for flash on firefox? I tried putting the flashlib in the plugin folder of aurora, etc. didnt work of course, since it's a problem in the sourcecode.
I realised that on youtube, flash seems to work! It doesnt actually display a flash missing warning or anything like that, on all the other sites.
So i was wondering if that is actually a flash implementation or a custom youtube player by mozilla right there?
Can anyone investigate? I don't have an IDE with all the fennec stuff set up, so i can't check on that. Would be awesome to get aurora with flash though, since it renders stuff really fast and it has a nice and smooth interface
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android#Download_Aurora
I think the YouTube player is html5... I May be wrong

you are indeed right i totally forgot about this, but im pretty sure since the interface looks a tiny bit different from the flash version.
Anyways, i headed to a mozilla "plugincheck" site, which gave me the message:
"for safety reasons, firefox has disabled your obsolete version of flash. Please update to a newer version" (translated it directly from the german version though, lolz. but you get the idea)
I guess we have a hint right here! How do we get aurora to NOT disable flash?
(I still dont have the sourcecode set up anywhere, im a lazy person.)

One guy did nand' my Miui nandroid onto a Mx2 236 and wifi did not work so this would be the same but if you are on unlimited data everything else video, sound may work on the Mx2 236.
You can # these out yourself. Use Root Explorer to unzip MIUI4DX2B1.zip and edit then rezip. Done.
The kernel check is the first action taken In the META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script:

#package_extract_file("system/etc/releaseutils/check_kernel", "/tmp/check_kernel");
#set_perm(0, 0, 0777, "/tmp/check_kernel");
#assert(run_program("/tmp/check_kernel") == 0);

Update to the op.
I have vids on you tube working great but just in hq. If hq is off vids bomb.
I may have done some other hacks to get this not sure It could be turning all the compatibility off plus the browser.

I'm gonna be honest with you, I have an extremely difficult time reading anything you post on the forums due to the strange and seemingly unnecessary abbreviations you tend to use.
With that said, thanks for the files, I appreciate it.

I was a tad under the influence, and in retrospect, that was pretty rude of me. Sorry 'bout that. <3
everything was kinda just thrown up here.. might help more people to have a description on how to do things exactly. took me a lil bit, but i figured it out on my own, great stuff, thanks for the post.
I tend to post in the midst of the my hacking frenzy. The op will get better
Anyone know if miui can be tweaked to not set compatibility to on for user apks?

I know you can turn it off manually for individual apps, but I don't know about changing what it defaults to for all user apps. I would imagine you probably can, though how is past my understanding of android.
Going to check in those unique miui build props
Bump for more apks.
I am giving this a try. I will report back with what I have.
I have been running MIUI and it runs great on the MX2. Everything works except for wifi. Even themes work!
EDIT: I am also reporting back that Camcorder does not work either .
I posted a question on the q/a thread about it to see if the community has any ideas. (link below)

All you have to do is go to the Firefox mobile site and when you SEARCH for thebl keyword FLASH the first thing that comes up is a page stating that Firefox for tablets DOES NOT support Flash, although the beta version does but just for phones. Amazing the info I found with a 30 second search and read

i looked and only found different versions to download, handy if u know where to look. in my job i do things for people who dont know where to look; and its sometimes not as straightforward as the first thing you see in the first 30 sec of looking. so i take it theres no workarounds and no magic touchpad exceptions ... thanks for the info and help tho.

Try ICS Browser+. I'm sure the Mozilla bunch will come up with a fix eventually.
Don't mind the previous poster, he gets off on putting people down. Ask away here, that's what the general and q/a sections are for.
firefox nightly already has support for flash
also some of the aurora builds back in march had it too {if i remember correctly they introduced the flash fix)

[ROM][DISCUSSION] Ubuntu Touch B&N Nook Tablet

Hey all, I've been around for a while and suppose I finally got off my butt and decided to try my hand at building stuff. I just wanted to let you know I posted this in the Ubuntu Touch Dev forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41307690
All credits go to the efforts of all the devs who have gotten us this far, I know there would be no hope for me without them
Not really usable, but it boots! :highfive:
I'd like to keep the dev questions in that thread if we can. General discussion can be here.
Updated dev post...
-dejello
Posted a 2nd build and added stuff to the post, sorry about the name change, more for me than anything else. Apps stay open, videos stopped working >.< I haven't checked the logs for anything yet, will do when I get a chance...
Figured I'd put up some new pics... I found out apparently if you swipe right on the status icons you get a Device pull down vs the individual ones... <-- DIdn't know that until a little bit ago Pics show that, multitasking (gallery on left, calc on right) and Home screen with the side bar...
I was just wondering today wether anyone had tried this yet thanks for the effort it's appreciated.

Any way to run this off an SD card?
I haven't even looked into it yet... I need to look into the Ubuntu side of the code to see what it isn't pulling in like it should be so this thing can function better. I found a script in another forum for auto changing the display stuff, added an Acclaim piece to it and it works, will upload it when I get off work today.

So the wifi doesn't work? Try using another wpa supplicant, like in Demetris's kernel.
How is the dev coming
Sorry, no new news yet, i didn't get too much of a chance this weekend to look into it... Between the family and having had to basically start over and I kept having problems even getting cm10.1 to build... I will work more on it time willing ofc..

What steps are you following to build this? I what to build a Linux other than Ubuntu touch. I think that plasma active would be awesome on NT.

The Wi-Fi problem comes from the Ubuntu end. Since this is Ubuntu Developer Preview, the wifi does not work.
question about ubuntu touch for nook
hi, i am new to this forum....
i was checking to see if there was an ubuntu touch image for the nook, and i ran across this post.
what i was wondering is if there is a way to install the image to boot off the SD card simular to
the N2A (nook 2 android) image does? i was thinking this way i could test it with out
bricking my nook tablet...
any ideas?
its awesome that someone is taking this on, as it looks like the nook is about to
become history.
thanks
Hey all, sorry I haven't posted much, just wanted to work on this a bit more before posting. I managed to get wifi to work with some terminal junk through adb and ubuntu_chroot. Basically it's not loading a module (wl12xx_sdio.ko) it should be. The network gui still doesn't show anything as of yet. So yes, I will still need to look into it more and check the source files as well. I am uploading a new build and will have instructions for it soon in the dev thread. Wondering if I should move it to the dev forum here
Not sure why, but atm apps have started force closing again. I need to reboot and see if it's somehow related. Seems something else just malfunctioned
UPDATE: Apparently getting the Network Manager GUI to work correctly is pretty simple http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41838135#post41838135
I have updated that post and I suppose I will upload my the build reference. One thing to note, the afterflash file correct the dpi seems to make my screen blank out with the latest Ubuntu builds. Not sure why just yet but it should be simple enough to add a conf file manually until I make some scripts. I have not tried adding security to the network (added wpa2-psk and worked like a charm after restarting the network-manager!) nor messed with hidden ssid's yet.
UPDATE: see Build 5 notes, I hadn't fully updated my ubuntu sources apparently Display seems to work now with newest builds!
Just when I start to get somewhere, they up and change versions on me (saucy now) Testing to see if it works!
UPDATE: Saucy boots!
-Swipe right side of screen to the left to unlock
-Network list shows then apparently goes blank after trying to get on (which I did the second time after a reboot, list stayed second time).
Note that there are two different versions of Saucy out, make sure you currently download from the same links as before (with the word "preview" in the url).
At some point I hope to figure out the missing battery indicator.
hey dejello whats the current news? are you still working on it?
btw saucy does seem to boot, raring seems to be okay
Still waiting for updated porting notes.. I have tried a few things unsuccessfully and will keep going, but this is not dead

thats nice to know keep up the good work :good:
by the way i heard that adamoutler was working on it too, but last thing I heard from him was the ubuntu recovery. wonder if he's still working on it
a little printing mistake there, saucy DOES NOT boot
I support this project and will hop on board if/when this gets closer to completion, or if we can boot off MicroSD :good:

install older version of mi browser on miui 11??

hello,
am on miui 11.0.5.0 global and was able to remove the stock mi browser(v10.....etc).
am trying to install an older version of mi browser that had better features than newer versions , it installs but keeps closing everytime i open it!
is there any workaround to make it work?
I know I'm not answering your question.
But why exactly do you prefer to use a browser filled with ads and junk?

Poco launcher gives you a neat way of hiding those bits of xiaomi scurf that you can't uninstall - why not just do that and browse with Iron or something better?

Regardless of ads or not, why do you still insist on using a inferior browser when there are so many others out there that do a better job.

i already mentioned the cause above!......the old version am talking about has a certain feature that isnt working anymore in new versions!.
All you mention is "the feature I'm looking for" or the "cause I'm looking for"
There's no direct mention or explanation of what you're looking for. Maybe more people will help you if you choose to explain a bit more rather than shut down every comment that's trying to help you.

the reason for posting this topic is to get help regarding running an older version of miui browser that installs but closes everytime i open in oreo/pie/q ......it runs fine on other android phones on nougat!!.
specifying the feature thats working on this old browser and not working on recent versions wont help coz poeple who "try to help" would simply recommend using other newer versions or even different browsers!!
if i wanted to shut comments ....i would have simply ignored any replies without a direct solution!!.
Okay, so you know how it works in the software world. Nobody codes everything from scratch. What we do is build upon the work of others to get what we want. Your previous browser would have been built with various libraries that it hooks into to provide different functionality. Now a new one has come out which was installed on your fone and this is using later versions of the libraries and possibly some APIs may have been dropped. So you're trying to use the old browser with the new libraries and it's entirely possible that the APIs/ABIs it needs are no longer available. So you're SOL. You're going to have to run your browser in debug mode to see what's wrong. I hope it works out for you.
