Just wondering if anybody else out there is strange like me and actually prefer CyanogenMod over AOKP. This is based on past experiences. I know AOKP is new to this device and is still buggy. This is not a complaint thread. Awesome job to the devs for getting us this far..

I thought the hivemind was in favor of CyanogenMod. At least, that is the preference I've generally seen. I haven't tried AOKP though, so I'm looking forward to trying it.
So far, yes. But, keep in mind aosp is still in very early development.

In terms of finished aosp, AOKP IS way better than CM9 . More features, way more. Aokp is stable as cm is. I know since im on the nexus but as a finished product the aokp will be the favorite, youll see. But i guess since aosp is early on this device you think cm is better cause of its name and past success. I think they failed at CM9.. they were really slow with deving and features

AOKP seems like it's not very mature. CM on the other hand has been around for a while, so I'm more inclined to use CM. I don't really care about extra features, I just want the basic "Google experience."

same here for my nexus i tried cm and aokp and bamf but the features are well kinda unnecesary to me.....i like the basic cleaness of stock aosp maybe with limited features like theme manager would make for a great rom
Cool.. I didn't say anything about this device.. My preference has nothing to do with Devin's AOKP build. I am just referring to past devices and experiences. I know AOSP is brand new to Rezound and I am not putting down anybody's work.
I prefer CM myself. I wouldn't have any problem settling on AOKP if I had to though (well, except for the unicorns)

I have a nexus and I always preferred CM9 to AOKP, as well as on my DInc. CM9 doesn't looks a lot cleaner and more professional throughout the ROM, and doesn't have all the gay unicorn crap

lol.. yeah the Unicorns are a little too much and agree with Joel on the features that I haven't used and probably will never use.
I don't get the AOKP hate.
1) Unicorns you can ignore them. Change the bootanimation.zip. The rest of them you never see until you change your wallpaper. You can even delete it all from the ROM.zip if you want.
2) Extra features- you don't have to use them. Having the code in them doesn't slow the ROM down or affect you. If you don't open ROM Control, you never see them.

amen. personally, i think the unicorns are a good conversation stater
I prefer AOKP, though I have a special place in my heart for CM. Its really funny actually. Last year at this time exactly my Droid 2 got cm7 and my Rezound has AOKP and CM9 at the same time a year later. I run AOKP because I'm a tweak *****, but I do really like CM's no BS no frills attitude. I'm mainly running aokp because I've never tried it before. Aside from heating and the usual issues, I've been pretty happy. Soft keys are buggy though.

yeah, jelly is a great rom. so is paradigm, as well. bamf=quality.
but yeah, i put CM9 on the rezound after trying AOKP and i just like the feel of CM9 more.
Unicorns
The additional features of AOKP can be enticing but they tend to come at the expense of battery life and overall smoothness when compared to CM9. I've yet to run either on my rezound but that was my general experience on other devices.
Furthermore, unicorns are mythical creatures devoid of genitalia that transcend the petty realm of sexuality. See Donnie Darko's explanation of smurfs for further reference.

Discuss your favorite roms. I've had a bit of trouble choosing between sense and nonsense personally. Currently running Deck's cm10.1 build, but switching to MeanBean every few days. There's pros and cons to both roms naturally.
My overall favorite is Tranquility by Bad Seed Customs of course just because of its flawless smooth opperation and dependability. Along with the Bad Seed teams wilingness to assist when ever they can. Favorite AOKP would be Team Hydra's Wild for the night CM 10.1 for pretty much the same reasons. Up and coming tho is joeyfettucini's Opperation JellyBean, really nice rom, very well made.

Operation jellybean. It looks sick and has an awesome volume output plus the awesome support is a plus
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
For Sense I agree on Tranquility, I ran it on ICS and JB. Second place is MeanBean on JB side. For AOKP I've run most of them, and I'm digging Rootbox for how much control you have. And, just as fast and smooth as CM 10.1.
I also like Tranquility, I am looking forward to their next update. I am currently running Operation Jelly Bean, which is a solid themed ROM. And I also like Viper4G. The amount of customization you can do with that ROM is great.
I'm loving rom ch3fs slim bean. Lots of features and smooth as butter.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
I'm surprised! Up unti lthis point, I'd thought MeanBean was the most popular ROM around, but I think I'll be trying Tranquility now... Question, is multitasking here still HTC's sense version, or has it been fixed? That's always been my deciding point when flashing Sense based roms.
Tranquility for me is tops and tied for 2nd are mean and viper, IMO

This is it, touchwiz vs aosp. Its all about who can make the best claim.
If so, what roms are you using? I've tried them all and i can't decide!!!!
here are my thoughts...
touchwiz, everything works but i dont care for anything.
aosp.... I like having all the extra stuff and dont have to customize anything.
-----
roms i liked were hyperdrive, cleanrom, liquid, aokp, cm10.1
I use CM10 on mine for one reason PDroid. I use Open-PDroid with AFWall+ and Adfree. Can have ultimate control of my phone. I really don't care about the gimmicks (Air touch, etc) Played with them for the first hour I had my phone, then rooted, ROM'd and moved on.
I like Touch Wiz. Coming from aokp, I'm bored with aosp (stilll like aokp), and the nav bar on the s4 (and s3) is goofy imo. TW is a nice change and it's clean. With tw what do you need to customize? A battery icon is about all, It's all done for you imo...of course, I'm using CLEAN 1.3, but to each his own...
I would like to try aosp but last I heard they were still having issues with GPS and Bluetooth. I like my phone to function fully. Once that's ironed out I'll make the switch.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
Well ive tried them all... and i dont care to customize. i am getting bored with aosp as well. im gonna try out beans to say ive tried them all... but might just stick to cleanrom which has always been my go to rom.
I'm running clean rom and I love it. Since I'm on Verizon it added the wifi toggle and got rid of a ****load of bloatware. Then I just used file explorer and finished the rest of myself. I like the samsung apps so I don't want a rom that gets rid of them

im getting pretty set on TW, but now im thinking jelly beans or cleanrom. but who knows
I like aosp simply because touchwiz looks hideous
After rooting my s3 and playing with Touchwiz and AOSP I've opted to keep my S4 stock and have yet to root the device. I can use Nova Launcher and use a few other programs to get the AOSP look I need. Plus I have the added benefit of the camera features and no GPS issues. We'll see if the AOSP ROM for the Nexus Edition S4 helps with those issues but until then... It's TW for me.

I wouldn't call it hideous. It just lacks eye candy. I used to like aosp alot but it never changes and looks the same. I'm bored of all the themes for it too aosp is insanely fast on this device and If the IR blaster is implemented someday, I'll leave aosp on my phone for more than 15 minutes

agreed. TW does look very cartoonish, but i got bored of aosp. im happy to be back on android though.... i was on apple for a few months.
After having smart stay, air gesture, and the ir remote, I won't go to AOSP based roms until they add those options. I can make TW look better by theming it.
thanx.
I typically run AOKP, but bounce around between the AOSPs a bit. I wasn't minding TW on this device so much, especially with some of the cool tweaks, but I cannot stand having both the quick toggles (which are way too huge) and the toggles page.
Weird as it is... the clunkyness of the notifications pull down is probably what makes TW a non-contender for me.
Edit: Oh, and some weird Bluetooth issue between the S4 and my car that only exists with TW and causes skipping in the sound unless I make a phone call first... lol.

Has anyone here used both? I'm currently using ViperDNA but considering moving towards CyanogenMod 10.1 as it appears to be more and more stable as a daily driver.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Backup and try it out
Everyone has different preferences, so you will get any number of different opinions
Yeah you just have to try it man I'd personal try like slim bean or carbon may jelly beer those are all soils choices and they are more option loaded then cm10.1. Just as stable as well
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
I agree give it a shot. I personally am not a big fan of Cm 10.1. I like the more polished roms. The Sense 5 Dream rom and Viper are my favorites.

Agreed with what everyone else said, just try it out. You'll get 100s of different opinions. I've tried both and continue to bounce back and forth between the two. They are both phenomenal ROMs with very talented developers.
Viper has full features (otg + mhl) I had trouble with those on cm. But cm is a lot leaner... They definitely both have pros and cons

Depending on which Rom you use I've noticed aosp is snappier where it matters but has it drawbacks as far as widgets goes. Viper is the best sense Rom IMO. Always the best customizations and amazing support. I'm torn at times which one to run day to day but I usually stick with the least problematic. Aosp for DNA has some kinks to iron out so I'm holding out for that.

Unfortunately, I've had nothing but trouble with the Viper ROM. Absolutely LOVE it, but my 4G almost never worked, and I constantly lost all connectivity altogether randomly. Moved to Cm10.1 and haven't had any issues yet. I miss Viper though.
thinking about rooting and installing ROM][09/09/2013]M7WLV Port is ths rom TOTALLY BUG FREE??
I've been using it for a few weeks now and haven't found a problem yet.
I'm not sure that any of the Rom's are totally bug free. Most of the sense based ROMs are pretty good! I'm not a big sense user but the ones I have tried work really well.

Cool thanks guys
There is no "best" ROM. Every ROM is great, as we have some rockin' awesome devs. It just boils down to preference.
Sense based:
Software designed for our hardware, less bugs, not many features, but things just.... Work.... You want to stay sense but want a metric S*** ton of features? Try Viper DNA, if you want a little less features, try NOS.
AOSP based:
Made for all iterations of Android devices, more prone to bugs, limited by software (I noticed AOSP camera compared to Sense on this device is a joke IMO, as Sense camera is MADE for this brand of phone, AOSP is made for a plethora of devices). You get nice features with no loss of performance (to a degree). With AOSP you get that Stock Android feel Google intends without OEM putting their skin on top of it.
It really boils down to the features you want, and the way you want your phone to act. Some Roms fly, some don't. It all is just the nature of the beast. Best to try a few out, just be sure to search that ROM's thread for any bugs, reviews, and features.

ABFP (Android Bug Free Project). Just kidding. Anyway, Sense ROMs definitely have the least bugs, but the AOSP ROMs are pretty good too, mostly everything works. I suggest you give the Google Play Edition ROM a try though, It's got all the benefits of being a sense-based ROM but it feels like pure AOSP. It doesn't have all the cool features of the real AOSP ROMs though.

My answer to this question is simple.. Though there are many great roms based on AOSP, they are all based on the CM 10.2 source.. For me, there are still too many bugs that I consider to be showstoppers ... I love AOSP and always will.. but I've been running Sense 5 since Joelz released just the rom OP is asking about.. now I've moved to Venom since I'm a tester and it frankly just works. Battery life is good, performance.. etc. It's all there.. I think there is a strange issue with Skype, but I don't use it.. those that do I feel bad, especially those that use it for phone calls, Venom will fix it.. just in time. :good: ... But honestly, this question can't be answered by anyone but you. Flash all the roms available, give them 3 days each.. operate like you normally do on your phone and see.. Really the only way.. But the most 'bug fee' will always be on Sense based roms.. :highfive:
Running gpe right now because I needed to use viber. With xposed it looks just like any other aosp rom. Maybe I'm just biased, but it doesn't feel as snappy as the proper cm/aosp roms.
