CM11 Doesn't Recognize External SD - AT&T LG Optimus G

Hey guys, I just posted here about my LGOG getting kernel errors and such. I have since fixed the issue, installed TWRP 2.3.6 (I believe) and flashed Cyanogen Mod's nightly build for CM 11, 12/11/13. The flash was successful and I have no issues other than my external SD card not being detected. TWRP also does not recognize the external.
I remember reading somewhere that it may be the format of the SD card causing it to not be read, but I'm not entirely sure. Any advice would be appreciated.

This was just me being kind of stupid. I should have figured that since CM11 has been out for 2 days that it's gonna be a bit unstable and I assume that external SD cards are a problem at the moment. I flashed the stable CM 10.2 build and everything works just fine.

Will be fixed soon.

[Q] Phone Storage and SD card won't mount (says "Unavailable")

I recently rooted and installed Bionix V 1.2.1, and it works fine with the 2Gb SD card that came with the Vibrant. However, whenever I put either one of my 2 Transcend 8GB cards (both formatted to FAT32) into it, neither the internal storage nor the SD cards will mount. The phone still boots properly, but in settings they both show up as "Unavailable".
I have searched the boards and haven't found a fix for this particular issue. Could it be the brand of the SD cards that's causing the issue?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I tried that but it didn't fix the issue
I seem to be having the same issue, any help would be appreciated =)
Bionix 1.2.1 has numerous issues. Im a nero fan. But bio1.2.1 was not good
I couldnt download anything from xda.
Now on 2.2.1 stock rom from einherjar dev team.
It is the best rom out. Period. And few have tried it.
So get goin. U wont be sorry.

Retried Voodoo kernel, still no effect.
Look at q&a its all bionix problems right now. 1.2.1 has clear problems right now.

ya, reinstalling didn't work for me either. I was really liking Bionix, but maybe I'll try another rom.
@torturedsoul: did you try booting without a microsd card? Mine only works when i boot with no card or with a Sandisk 2GB Class 2 microsd. Neither of my 2 Transcend 8gb Class 6 cards work, so I'm thinking the rom just might not like those cards.
@Mr Orange: If I was going to switch roms, should i just disable voodoo lagfix and then install a new rom from recovery or is there another step? (sorry for the noob question). Also, is mobile AP working for you in the einherjar rom?

thanks Mr. Orange, i'm gonna check out that rom
So I tried that other rom, but it's still not mounting the 8gb cards. So now I'm thinking it's gotta have somthing to do with these SD cards.

False, it does work.
It appears there is more than one cause for this, and more than one solution as well. I removed my micro sd card and now my internal is working fine. I would like to figure out what do do about the external slot not working though...

[Q] What's going on here? (CM7/CWM problem)

Over the past week I have been trying to jump over to CM7 and keep having the same problems with my sd card. I flashed cwm4 for CM7 before flashing CM7 and that goes fine. CM7 installs fine.
I get a damaged/unrecognized format on my SD card while in CM7...so I erase/format it in CM7 (I have it backed up), then load all the stuff back to it. The main problem is when I want to flash other things while on CM7. I get to recovery via shutdown menu and cwm refuses to mount my sd card. I've tryed my 8gig and 32gig sd cards. I've tried battery pulls and taking out/putting the card back in.
Right now I'm back on ComRom and my sd card has never had a problem in cwm or on the rom itself.
Anyone have a solution or suggestion?
Hmmm that's tricky...are you using the 7/17 build or the nightly? I'm on the 7/17 build and have never had sd card issues

I've run into similar problems with both cm7 and miui. See my post damaged/blank sd card several posts down. Someone suggested that cm7.1-pre had fixed the problem for him, but I haven't been able to get more about that. I've gone back to ed05 until a stable build of cm7 comes out. It's ugly to look at touch wiz and it's a little slower, but it's nice for everything just to work.

I'm having the same problem. Have you figured out what was causing the problems?
I'm not too sure, but being unable to detect the external sd card is a common issue amongst most aokp ROMs I've used.
As for your internal memory being used up, I had the same doubt and then realised it was mainly because of my backups. Each one was ~900Mb so that ate up most of my internal memory. Delete any redundant backups from the clockworkmod folder if thats your problem

Installing a secondary ROM takes up about 2GB of your internal memory, if that's what you're talking about. Anything more than that could be your backups..or something I'm not aware of.

Just to update my original post...
I appeared to lose my internal SD when I upgraded to CM9 RC2. Didn't bother me since I had external SD still.
When I updated to a CM10 nightly, I lost my external SD card as well.
The way that i fixed it was by going back to CM9 RC1. When I loaded that ROM the media scanner informed me that the SD cards were corrupt and reformatted it from me. After that I reinstalled CM10 and it recognises both
I had reformatted my ext. SD card using my computer before, but that hadn't fixed the problem. It would seem that my media scanner (in CM10) wasn't recognising the ext. SD or the internal and thus not reformatting it....
Not sure if this helps, I'm not as versed in the workings of android as many people are on here... What I did above fixed my problem though, so perhaps it might be of help to someone else.
Check out the thread for your rom. Some one else before you, has probably already asked about your problem and got an answer

Cyanogen Roms and SD card question

Ok, I have tried the CM10 rom and the Paranoid Android rom. Here is my question, I formatted my SD card with my phone while using Beans V2 rom (assuming exfat?) and the first time I flashed CM10 it said my SD card was damaged and I had to reformat. I just flashed PA and I took my SD card out until I was running PA and then when I put the card in it said damaged. I restored to Beans V2 and it still says my card is damaged. What are CM based roms doing to my card? What is the solution to this? Formatting on a CM based rom? Thanks
Ok, I can't format the card on the CM based rom. So is the solution to format on my computer first? Fat32?

I am having the same problem as you with, coming from Beans to Phandroid. Now, I cannot seem to mount the Internal or External SD, either using MTP, Mass Storage or Clockwork, What did I do wrong!?
I don't know exactly what is wrong with you're card because I would assume that it would be fine once you went back to beans but I can at least confirm that fat32 on my 64g is working fine with paranoid android.
must be formatted to fat32...read section 3 of my guide!
Yup. Figured it out. Thanks guys. I'm still not sure why CM based ROMs would corrupt the card but I guess that's for another day.

i'm glad it's fixed.

[Q] Paranoid ROMs and others

I love the feature set in a lot of the custom ROMs but for the life of me I can't get them to recognize my SANDisk
64gb Micro SD card. I have tried NTFS and FAT32 and PA can't see either one. My PC can read either just fine.
When I go over to most of the 4.1.2 builds they read my card just fine as well. Looking for a 4.2.2 that works or
4.3...can't find one that works with this SD. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Can you access the SD card in recovery?

No I can not.
I really don't know how to advise you then. Your custom recovery should be outside your OS version. I had the same type of problem when I moved from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2. I ended up accidentally solving the problem by installing an updated version of PA. However, I never had an issue managing my SD card with TWRP or CWM. Have you made sure that your custom recovery of choice has been updated to the latest and greatest before flashing 4.2.2 ROMs?
I recently read something that said that the ability to read different file systems for SD cards was
based upon the kernel and not the ROM...not sure that makes sense to me now as I just installed
Devil Kernel, AllianceV6 ROM, and I am running TWRP version 2.6.0.1. I can read the card on my
PC, and under the ROM but TWRP refuses to mount it. Seems to vary what wants to read my FAT32
card and what does not. Oh well. May post over on TWRP. Thanks all.

I was reading in the paranoid thread that you had to format the car to the proper either ex-fat or something like that you should look back five to ten pages in the paranoid thread they explained. It is only an issue with 64GB cards
