Root/custom roms questions - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Hello,
Some time ago I tried to root and install a custom rom for my lg l9 p760(v20i) but I failed; error was: "security error" at boot.
Now, bad ideas comes to my mind again and I want to repeat the process.
My question is pretty simple: in order to have a rooted phone with a custom CM rom, what steps should I follow, and most important in what order: root, busybox, unlock bootloader and then install cm recovery?
Thanks.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221102 There u go. Secutiry error is shown when u try to install a custom rom on a locked bootloader. I think the correct order would be
1 Install Fastboot drivers
2 Unlock bootloader
3 Root and then u can install busybox and cwm

Thank you for you answer.
So this is where i was wrong: last time I just rooted the phone,then using an app from Play Store I installed CWM then got that annoying "security error";
Thanks again and have a great day!

I'm gonna guess you used Rom Manager to install CWM.
From what I've read that's a big no-no on our phones.

cwm recovery status 7 error

hello
i'm trying to flash a custom rom (unofficial jelly bean port for xperia sola, by munjeni)
i see many others flash it successfully, but mine's always stuck at the status 7 error.
please help
Is that the getprop error?

Have u flashed the kernel by munjeni!??
The same thing happened to me with the bootloader lock. Once I unlocked it, I have installed so many roms. You should read if that rom is for unlock bootloader only.

Hi francantabria, you could try this:

Don't use the last Robert's BusyBox, use the old one from here:

Hi francantabria, if your bootloader is still locked (it will be so if you don't unlock it) you can't install a real recovery, but you can install a very similar tool - bootstrap or second init- (the artas182x's one) which needs busybox for working.
Busybox is a set of advanced Linux commands for Android, just Google it.
Cheers. Good luck.

Hi francantabria, of course you can, but the proper order is (giving as a fact that you want to unlock the bootloader, you know that you'll lose the guaranty stuff):
1.unlock the bootloader (previously you need to be familiar with fastboot, install its drivers,...)
2.install a recovery via fastboot (or Nandroid Manager) it could be CWM or TWRP.
3.root easily (flashing SU and busybox from the recovery).
4.flash custom rom.
If you follow this way read the tutorials seriously and do it the exact way.
Respect the timing issue: be very careful. I have not unlocked yet, so my experience, at the moment, is only by reading about it. (Fastboot drivers installed and a little more).
Cheers. Good luck.

[Q] Can i use Cyanogenmod Installer to install custom roms other than cyanogenmod ?

As the title says, I am asking whether i can use cyanogenmod installer via play store to unlock bootloader. I have stock rom and I want to install 4.4 roms and i got sick of waiting for samsung to release an update. So i am asking if I used cyanogenmod installer to unlock the device and then unroot by myself. After then can i install other custom roms just by flashing them? Is this a safe course to follow or do you suggest it would be better to follow one of the guides that shows how to install custom roms on S3 from start(stock rom)?

[Q] Help with rooting my HTC DX (going mad)

I have been trying for about a month now to root my HTC DX and have been successful in unlocking bootloader and installing a custom recovery (CWM) but when it comes to installing Superuser zip through CWM and rebooting the superuser app is present but when I verify with root checker it says 'Sorry! This device does not have proper root access.' I've read threads on the forums with people having the same problems and resolving them but it doesn't work for me . Can anyone help me please? It's driving me mad lol.
Try using TWRP if your device is not rooted before rebooting your phone from TWRP it will give you a msg "phone not rooted install superuser" just swipe to install and it might work...

If the @GtrCraft 's file doesn't work, just flash a custom ROM with root included (i.e. this ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2330229)... and don't forget to make a nandroid backup before you flash anything.

[Q] HELP! I flashed clockworkmod recovery before unlocking bootloader LG 4XHD

Hello I have a problem with my LG optimus 4XHD. I didn't like the 4.1.2 lg skinned android so i wanted to install a custom rom. I started by rooting my phone that worked but then i flashed clockworkmod recovery without unlocking the bootloader. Now i can't enter my recovery anymore but i can still boot into android. Now my question is: Can i still unlock the bootloader now without bricking my phone? Or is there another fix for a problem like this. Can someone please help me?
Thanks!

How did you flash CWM without unlocking bootloader?
And I think the bootloader can only be unlocked only with stock recovery.

Thanks for replying i flashed CWM using the Rom manager app. Do you have any idea if i can get the recovery to work again?
You gotta find stock recovery and flash like you did in CWM recovery.
This is my idea and true in logical. Isn't it.
Try at your own risk and Good luck, mate.

Thank you for tying to help me .Finding a stock recovery and flash it looks pretty hard. I would like to know why i can't unlock my bootloader now? Does unlocking the bootloader require you to have access to the recovery? Again thanks for helping i really appreciate it
I have unlocked many bootloaders of many MTK devices. The phone will be reboot to stock recovery and format the whole phone after unlocking bootloader. So I said that you need stock recovery.

You gotta find your stock recovery yourself by googling or request approriate one on the forum.
And see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163974 to make a flashable zip.
Or try this flashing recovery.img directly using Mobile uncle tools (I am not sure this would work. 50% to work)
See my thread here to try latter way.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2686654
Follow the steps 2, 3 and 5.
Good luck, bro.
Either your phone is bricked or CWMR is not flashed.
