Succulent's 10.0 dated 12/31 saved my Nook's life - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

My Nook has been around a lot with new OS's. I've always had some problem with CM7 10.1 ... Finally I tried Succulent's 10.0 dated 12/31 and I have a very well behaved Nook. No WiFi problems. No more problems with battery drain. I'm DONE. Thanks to the developers

Yep! I still keep the Tablets in trhe Family on Succulents 1231 CM10 build. Super stable! I see no reason to "upgrade". I like to experiment so I' have tried other builds, but none of them give me anything I want that isn't in this "old" build.
I am filled with admiration for all the developers though. They do such amazing work! :good:

I've only found one problem with this build. Sometimes I will be in the middle of working and my tablet will shutdown and reboot. It's not a full reboot though? I've also had WIFI dropping but this can be fixed by taking a WIFI lock in the command program

I haven't had one single unwanted reboot in the year I've had it installed. Go figure! Can't say I've noticed any wifi problems either, but then wifi here is not as reliable as I'd want so maybe I just took for granted it was the wifi in the house acting up when it may have been the Tablet.

I had one "spontaneous reboot" incident in all the 10 months on Succulent's 10.0 12/31 builds, compared a few incidents a month with 10.1 and 10.2. No WiFi issue whatsoever.
FWIW I am running CM11 M2 snapshot at the moment, it's not bug free but its performance is surprisingly quite snappy.

Just use recovery to back up your current CM10.0 before flashing CM11, that way you can revert back to CM10.0 if need be without any sweat.
To flash CM11, you'll need to use CWM 6.0.4.5 (or TWRP 2.6.3.1) or later version; see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49024436&postcount=105 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49111924&postcount=8 on how to create flashable recovery zip to update recovery in emmc.
Be aware that CM11 sometimes randomly fails to boot (or reboot), see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49082178&postcount=131, so don't panic and give up if it fails to boot first time after installation.

I flashe CM11 and it seem to run great. Only problem is ... I can't load a lot of my application from the Play Store. When I try to install I get this error message. "my device isn't compatible". Some will install and others won't?

Went back to 10.0 CM11 has that awful low battery poltergeist thing. Get down to 20n percent battery and the ghost takes over. 10.0 doesnt do this

i would also like to endorse this build for a few reasons:
1. super snappy, UI is smoother than 4.2 JB and kitkat
2. the old tablet UI is in this ROM and it's really easy to enable and configure, which is awesome because the old tablet UI is amazing
3. yeah no wifi problems, battery life is pretty solid too from what i've seen.
on cm10.1.3 official, i was getting FC's of the process "com.android.media" on boot. doesn't happen here, i don't think it happened on kitkat either. if you want a really stable tab, flash this build.

Looks like I am taking the wifes Nook back and checking this out!

After having a ton of stability issues and horrible battery life I tried going from CM11 back to this build. Problem is I am getting an error trying to flash it. Do I need to revert back to an earlier CWM to flash CM10?

You need to use earlier version of CWM, e.g., 6.0.3.x or 6.0.2.x.
(Alternatively you can replace the update-binary file (in the folder \META-INF\com\google\android\) in the CM10 ROM zip file with its new corresponding version in the CM11 ROM zip file).

good release version?
I'm running this 12/31 build of succulent's and it is indeed quite stable. I noted it is a debug build. I'd assume a release build would be a little quicker & smaller. Is there a release build equivalent to this package? thx!

9/9/13 nightly here... Seems GPS won't lock on and I can't mount external SD card storage.
When I try to dirty flash back to the IRC build (8/18 unofficial), I get the Cynogen boot animation spinning forever.

I've been running the 9/4 nightly with no GPS problems.
I stopped using USB storage several weeks ago, and switched to MTP mode. CM's MTP is doing transfers much faster than it used to..

I don't suggest dirty flashing an older nightly over a new one. A clean install is most likely the fix, unless you have a backup you can restore.

I meant the sd card doesnt mount at all (scenario: i go to open waze and it tells me there is no SD card installed). Not just for USB transfers.
I did dirty flash back to 9/4/13 and SD card and GPS are working now. Thanks.

Same issue here. 9/8 and 9/9 do not recognize SD card. I was using the experimental NO DELAY zip with no issues but I've decided to run RC2 for a while. I have better battery life with 10.1.3

CM10.2 camera vs Sense
Hi guys. Is there any way to permanently set the exposure to -1? I find that most if not all of the pictures taken on CM10.2 are overexposed, or the white balance is way off. As an example, taking a picture of a lamp in the evening looks like I'm taking a picture of the sun or something. The Sense camera is really the only thing I miss on CM10.2. Any advice on how to make the camera perform better on this ROM?

9/10 for me kept bootlooping. In fact, it happened when I connected to the PC to move some files over. I'm assuming its still messed up but it could have also been my SD card, because it was wiped and I had to kinda start over.
9/5 would reboot and then stick on the CyanogenMod boot screen.
9/6 - 9/8 wouldn't even boot up at all for me.
9/4 seems to be the most stable one for me.

TBH, im not sure if im the only one that has this issue with all 4.4.4 roms but with all 4.4.4 roms I had wake issues where every time I press the power button, it had a delay issue, I literally had to keep pressing the power button for it to wake up. The 5.0 build seems to fix the issue.
Just wanted to put it out there lol.

Well kitkat roms definitely had wake issues with this device for sure so you're one in a million.. Lol It has been fixed in 5.0 for now and the biggest thing we fought was sleeping issues. The device always wanted to reboot every time you turned off the screen or when it timed out. I'm hoping those days stay behind us from now moving forward. So how's the camera now & did you dirty flash it? I'm gonna try the gapps you pointed out since I still don't have the playstore.
I had the Playstore in the last build using Banks minimal. I was able to d/l TiBu and restore my apps.

Yeah hope it doesnt do that again, it was a pain lol. Camera works fine , im having screen flickering issues. -_- . I hope theres a something on Xposed framework that can fix this issue. Dont wanna keep going to developers option and enabling hw overlays. Yeah its weird, you have to flash a "certain" gapps, a xda member pointed out this issue on the slimLP forum. im seeing a lot people with other devices are having issues with the gapps also. You should download the gapps and upload it to your AFH.
mobile data not working

the 404 error? been wondering about that myself... i think i still have a copy of the zip on the phone, but not the recovery (unless it also comes with the CM zip?)
from earlier reading, it sounded like everything before 13 is now abandoned
now even if it's more stable, all the snapdragon camera updates sound extremely exciting, maybe we should try one of the 13 nightlies sometime this week

I'm on 1/6 cm 13 build. It's somewhat stable. Data drops very frequent, which I'm sure it will eventually be fixed, I just can't afford to right now. A few FC with some settings option, nothing major. It just can't possibly be as stable as cm12, which was worked for a few months compared to a weeks

So this post caught my eye... Is someone working on Android 7.0 for the Ascend Mate 2 or is it already out there?
SHM, a dev who brought us TWRP and a few 6.0 ROMs, is working on 7.0. Understandably, he doesn't like people asking for ETA's so he'd prefer us not to bug him.
Also, since CM officially supports our phone, won't we be getting an official CM14 as well?

@nate5711: I think this CM14.1 runs more smooth than CM13 (official). It hasn't crashed yet; previously CM13 rebooted occasionally. The battery life is very nice also: 9-10 hours SOT, similar to CM13.
I have been using TWRP by Matt (this CM14.1 Developer) for a while, so I didn't see any problem with it (the previous version is 3.0.M5-0 released on July 19; https://android.cmphys.com/twrp-mt2/). The only thing is TimeService which led to inaccurate time in TWRP, but I always named Nandroid backup myself which is much shorter while with more information. It has been fixed as Matt stated:good:
I did make a Nandroid backup of CM13 using TWRP-3.0.M5.0 and I am sure there is no problem to switch between this CM14.1 and CM13 without loss of data. I tried both clean and dirty flash of CM14.1 (over CM13), and currently I've been running the dirty-flashed one flawlessly. I tried switch between CM14.1 and CM13 with TWRP and there's no problem at all.
Sure, as I mentioned earlier, LiveDisplay night mode doesn't work. There's no CMTE either. Otherwise everything is good on my end.
Thanks to Matt for his wonderful job! :good::good::good:
BTW, Matt has his CM13-Dec 26 nightly available to us also and he said the Camera (CM13) has been fixed. TBH, I haven't tried his CM13-20161226 yet since I am very satisfied with his CM14.1-20161225.

Thanks for the helpful info, dl the rom and I'm very much enjoying it..
Thank you for providing the latest build. I have installed it and seems to be working fine. Need to use it for a few days to cycle the battery to know how good is the backup.
Thank You so much for the update so far is very smooth. Is anyone else having the camera randomly popping up during a phone call? I have tried to download gapps again and reflashed still having the issue. Am i missing something in the settings?

Will you report here? if so, consider this a subscription!
Used PA a few times in the past and it has always been one of the smoothest and best running roms for me, so i'm very interested!

The real problem about it is the updates... will it be supported continuously or just 1 month. Considering PA's track records I doubt they will be able to sustain it for long. But I still have my fingers crossed.. Can you please do me a favor and install the HDLR camera zip found in the themes and apps forum in n6p and check if it works? if it does I will be flashing PA right away.
Also @seangeezy122 please do check the kernel and grab a couple of screenies
Thx for the info & links, downloading
Just one question : are gapps included? or should I flash theme?

@chadouming cant wait till you get your hands on their source!
I'm kinda sad. I've downloaded the rom twice now, and I've been clean flashing it, but my Nexus 6P boots up and then shortly freezes at the setup screen and reboots. It does this continuously. I'm using the latest BeansGapps, if that helps.
EDIT: I flashed just the ROM without Gapps and it works. Maybe my BeansGapps are corrupt and need to be re-downloaded. I'll give it a try.
EDIT 2: Okay, this ROM doesn't like BeansGapps. It restarted once, but it's chugging along the setup process just fine now.
it is encrypted or not?

No issues with BeansGapps, worked fine from the get go.
So far so good, no issues at least. Will play around for the rest of the day and see how real world usage goes.

did you use the full or mini gapps package
Flashed the rom with openGapps stock package, working fine for the moment. Looks promising but lacks extra features that other roms such as pure and RR have like hold power for flashlight and down right clear all button.
The MD5 hash for the rom file is CE696A1C396864B23F40A37CF9A4C5D6 if anyone is wondering.

Ever since MM PA isnt really about the features but more on the smooth side of the UI and a small handpicked own festures. Thats why before on MM I used some xposed modules to incorporate those small features I miss. Though this lack of features shouldn't be a bother to minimalists like me.
Which gapps beans or banks or open?
And which versions for vendor n2g470?
And where's the official page... Google+?
